(CNN) – Keeping to his promise that he would release a controversial video clip of Delaware GOP Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell every week until she appears on his television show, liberal comedian Bill Maher unveiled another clip of the Tea Party favorite on Friday.
In the latest clip, culled from a 1998 episode of Maher’s old show “Politically Incorrect,” O’Donnell is shown vehemently asserting that “evolution is a myth.”
Video: 'Evolution is a myth,' says O'Donnell in 1998
A stupefied Maher asks, “Have you ever looked at a monkey?” to which O’Donnell replies, “Well then...why aren’t monkeys still evolving into humans?”
Maher aired the clip on his current HBO show, "Real Time with Bill Maher."
The latest clip comes days after video of O’Donnell surfaced showing the candidate in 2003 claiming its possible to stop Americans from having sex.
And last week, Maher released a clip that featured O’Donnell in 1999 saying that in high school she “dabbled into witchcraft.”
O’Donnell’s campaign has dismissed the previous clips as distractions.
According to a CNN/Time/Opinion Research Corporation poll released Wednesday, Democratic Senate nominee Chris Coons holds a 16 percentage point lead over O’Donnell among likely voters, 55 percent to 39 percent. Among the wider pool of registered voters, Coons leads O'Donnell by 25 points.
Ok- I am respectful to religion.. but this is the thing. Does anyone remember history at all? In the 1500's, Galileo was put in prison by the catholic church for daring to say the Earth revolved around the sun, instead of the Sun revolving around the earth... religion is continuously and shamefully wrong over and over again because they refuse to budge on their beliefs. Unlike religion, Science does not claim to be absolute, it can be changed and updated in its theories when new information is obtained. This argument that Evolution is just a theory because it does not fit into Creationist standards seems oddly familiar to me. Can't you religious nuts just quit while your ahead and actually learn something from your own history? Evolution is a proven theory, over and over and over again, its basically a law of nature which all science is based on. The fact that the church and people like O'Donnel can not put their heads around this just makes them less credible and almost retarded like in their approach to this discussion. I am mind boggled that this is even a discussion to be had.
It still is the Theory of Evolution !!!! It takes more faith to believe in evolution than in bibical creation. The Dems are getting more desperate by the day.
Evolution is not so controversial in other countries – not suprisingly, where the education system is a lot better. Sigh. I feel sad for all the people on here who think evolution is "just a theory" or "has no evidence." Very sad indeed. Yes, the earth is flat and the center of the universe, and that guy Santa Clause – oh, wait, I shouldn't say anything so as not to destroy their world view.
And I don't think Maher is trying to destroy her (she doesn't need any help there) but he just happens to have her on video saying some pretty wacky things. Believe you me – if that was a Democratic candidate and Maher didn't share it, all we would hear from Tea Partiers is "censorship!" Don't be so hypocritical.
Evolution: The Core Concept of Biology. This is from a 2010 text book by Silvia Mader. Since when did a concept become a fact. A concept (abstract term: conception) is a cognitive unit of meaning—an abstract idea or a mental symbol sometimes defined as a "unit of knowledge,"
Do we all now understand what a concept is? Jusus is a concept and so is speaking and using the word fact in place of concept. It is a dumb concept but a concept non the less.
O'Donnell is so pathetic that I can't believe there are people in this country who will actually vote for her. How low has this country sunk to even have candidates like her!
O'Donnell is a barking lunatic. – Goes right along with you Fox-watching- racist- Bible-thumping- Creation morons.
You idiots – her opponent Coons was speaking in hyperbole when he titled it "The Makings of a Bearded Marxist' – then again I guess that's too much to ask for the Fox crowd to understand what hyperbole is – despite the fact that you sheep have it rammed down your throats everyday.
What I find amazing is that no one will criticize Bill Maher for his inexcusable behavior. What he is doing is nothing more than extortion. He's a child who doesn't get his way. "Come on my show or I'll humiliate you daily" Does he stamp his feet and call for his mommy too? "Mommy, she won't come on my show. Whaaaa"
Take a show known for its wit, add someone who's clearly dim, and what do you get?
Dim + Wit. What's that equal?
If Ms Palin can see Alaska from her porch Ms O'Donnell can believe in whatever she wants.
Such a sad state in our country that many of our own politicians, not just candidates, feel evolution is a "myth". Yes, you can be a Christian and still follow science. The state of ignorance we are in is alarming and embarrassing!
O'Donnel once again shows here complete ignorance. The Catholic Church, the religion she "claims" to be part of has since the late 1800's insisted on a nonliteral interpretation of Genesis and has accepted evolution backed by emperical scientific observations. In other words "fact". The church also stated and I quote "we also know the dangers of religion that severs its link with reason and becomes prey to fundamentalism". Fundamentalists like O'Donnel, Palin, Angle are the new danger to our society.
How is this shocking? Any idiot can tell you that the GOP and teabaggers are full of science deniers.....preferring an unprovable sky daddy instead of actual scientific evidence that can defend itself against criticism.
Maher is a total idiot. I can't stand his show.
Bill Maher happens to make more sense than most of the pundits out there. Yes, he's a liberal, so if you are a conservative, I can assure you you will not like him and you won't think he is funny.
What I don't get is what anyone sees in people like Sarah Palin and her mentee Christine O'Donnell. It scares me to think that they may actually get elected.
what a sad state of affairs. someone says something idiotic and a nation gapes. don't we have, you know, actual problems to solve?
Whats wrong with believing in a middle ground? I accept evolution as a practical, readily verifiable reality, just from observing the world around me. But I also believe that evolution has its origins in, and is guided by, a Creating Intelligence. Anyone else for a reasonable idea that pairs logic and science with faith?
This woman is an absolute moron.
I guess Palin won't be wearing the Stupid Crown much longer.
Hey if you are a little depressed and want a GREAT LAUGH go check out old clips of Christine O'Donnell thru the years.I CAN'T STOP LAUGHING.....SHE IS NUTS!!!!! She seems like a nice lady but she is NUTS!!!!!! Glen Beck must love her because she thinks it is 1776.......
I would hope she at least thinks to get a flue shot EVERY YEAR because the virus mutates (evolves) or does she think one shot one time would do it. Or, just forget to get the shot since adults do get it worse. If God didn't want man to do science we would not have been given the intelligence (or at least a lot of us) to look in to how things work. Sorry, but my God is big enough to handle this question. Why isn't yours?
Sorry but evolution is not a theory. The physical evidence is overwhelming, from the fossil record and the various humanoid remains including, Human, Neanderthal, Lucy, to the 4.4 million year old Ardipithehecus. Using techniques such as Biochronology, Argon Dating Tehprachemistry, and Magnetostartigraphy and Molecular Biology we are able to understand the nature and age of the fossil record. the reason that "monkeys don`t evolve into humans" is that they are their own branch of the family tree and at one point shared a common ancestor.
What I find amusing is that Bill Maher (or anyone else) finds it shocking – shocking! – that a politician would proclaim evolution is a myth. For crying out loud, that is a requirement for getting elected in Kansas. I gave up arguing with evolution deniers after I was called "closed minded" for not laughing at the willfully ignorant, specious arguments. No point is arguing with a flat earther either.
you can see evolution at work all around you. just listen to the political parties change their talking points to satisfy the crowd they're talking to at the moment. Now that's proof of evolution.
So what1 as a Christian, I too believe in the Biblical account of creation. In fact, I don't know any Christians who believe in evolution! Is THIS the Dems primary the argument against O'Donnell, her Christian beliefs? What's that about your tolerance, Dems? That appears to be just like evolution, A MYTH!
Why does this stun? A large number of intelligent Americans reject the theory of evolution. Even though it has been taught in higher education, public schools, and promoted by the liberal media as fact for decades. I find it stunning that people who consider themselves to be intelligent believe that the physical universe and life on earth is the product of chance and time.
Many people on here have commented that it's an old clip and therefore should not count for some reason, those are the kinds of people who I call wrong. What counts is that it shows that she has a closed mind, that she would rather believe in stories than in science or the truth. It shows that she is merely one of the many blind sheep who will just follow without asking any questions. The kind of curiousness that would have kept us in the dark ages. The bible is not a history or science book folks, but these are the types who believe it is. I have no problem with her believing anything she wants to, just not as a senator, I don't want to take any giant footsteps backwards.
Vote NO in NOvember to the party of NO.
