(CNN) – Joe Biden isn't the only member of the Obama White House frustrated with the Democratic base.
So is the big man himself.
In his lengthy Rolling Stone interview, President Obama took the opportunity to express deep frustration with the low enthusiasm among Democratic voters this election cycle amid charges he has fallen short on a string of campaign promises.
"It is inexcusable for any Democrat or progressive right now to stand on the sidelines in this midterm election," the president told the magazine.
Obama went on to describe his administration as the "most successful in a generation in moving progressive agendas forward," and said it was flat out "irresponsible" for Democrats to stay home on Election Day.
"The idea that we've got a lack of enthusiasm in the Democratic base, that people are sitting on their hands complaining, is just irresponsible," he said. "Everybody out there has to be thinking about what's at stake in this election."
Obama's direct admonishment was published a day after the vice president turned heads when he told Democrats at a New Hampshire fundraiser that the base of the party needs to "stop whining and get out there and look at the alternatives."
Obama's comments came as the president heads to four states this week in an effort to drum up excitement among voters who flocked to the polls for him in 2008 and remind them of his administration's accomplishments. To that end, Obama said he keeps a list of fulfilled campaign promises. The president claimed 70 percent of them have been met.
Democratic discontent has grown more palpable over the last several months as Obama has been forced to fend off charges that, among other things, he was too eager to compromise on health care, hasn't pushed hard enough for gay rights, and is advancing the same foreign policies as the hawkish Bush administration.
A recent CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll showed that only 30 percent of Democrats are enthusiastic about the looking midterm elections, as opposed to 53 percent of Republicans.

Two things bother me about this. First off, there is no such thing as a responsible Democrat any more, just as there is no Democratic Party anymore. There are only Democrat liberals left, responsible Democrats left a long time ago to become Republicans or Independents and many of us now identify with the TEA Party. Secondly, he is "slamming" and "blasting" the Democrat liberals in the same way as he is "slamming" and "blasting" Fox News and its viewers. Fox viewer are much more intelligent. Smells so much like fear and desperation doesn't it?
The reason they are not voting is because while they don't like what they see, they can't quite bring themselves to vote for the Reps....so this is the next best thing. Obama has done nothing that he promised–except health care, and only 18% of the folks are "Extremely Positive" about that. Those are obviously the left wing nuts that will always back a Dem/Lib agenda. This is gonna be a bloodbath, and Obama has never operated in any kind of environment where he was not the darling of the moment. He is simply a pawn, and it will be shown in the next two years. The man could not lead a starving dog into a butcher shop.
Uh ... cnn ... did any of your staff graduate with an English degree?
I quote:
"The idea that we've got a lack of enthusiasm in the Democratic base, that people are sitting on their hands complaining, is just irresponsible," he said. "Everybody out there has to be thinking about what's at stake in this election."
And yet the title of the piece is,
"Obama scolds 'irresponsible' Dems"
If you look carefully, staffers, the subject is "idea," not Dems. I think how he means "idea" is perception. In other words, "the perception that Dems aren't energized is 'irresponsible,'" meaning that CNN & other news affiliates are being "irresponsible" in how they portray political events and that almighty "spin factor". Perhaps, I don't know, he's referring to the litany of articles aimed at charting how the GOP can reclaim seats this November, and maybe frustrated that you, along with FOX news, make the weakest, most cursory inquiries when it comes to the policies of Bush's presidency and the Tea Party Express's background & ideological affiliation (I mean, come on! They're RUNNING for GOP primaries; independent, grass roots, Washington outsiders don't get to run in the primaries of any political party).
Ya'll have a good day now.
This guy just doesn't get it! The problem is that his policies are bad for the nation! Nobody could have gone as left as he has! And he is also in denial, the American people do not want "progressive" policies. They destroy the country and the economy.
Okay it is inexcusable because the freakazoids (GOP Teaboogers) stand to gain the majority. However, Mr. President, with all due respect, I for one am sick and tired of putting these whiny, no backbone, can't-get-it-together Democraps back in office when they are too scared to do what is right.
I'll vote Democratic because I know that their is NO ALTERNATIVE if we're to have any kind of a chance of moving this country forward for the middle class under your leadership. Yet quite frankly Mr. President whom you need to truly take to task are those punks in Congress that are too afraid to back you up because all they can think about is getting re-elected and stuffing their pockets. You need to close the freaking doors and tell those chumps that in public they should stick to the program, and dissent in private. This has worked wonders for the Rethuglikkklans and they have done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to earn anyone's vote or their paychecks.
So put your size 13 foot down Mr President and telll those DINO's that we're tired of seeing YOU doing all the work, taking all the HITS, while they cower behind the scenes, and have the nerve to distance themselves from their President except when the money is rolling in or the polls go up.
And his approval ratings among his base just dropped another two points from those comments. Obama has fallen far short of his promise. His healthcare bill is another very expensive give away to private industry and does little to contain the cost of healthcare and certainly doesn't assure coverage for all. This administration's obvious lack of concern about the civil rights abuses against the GLBT community is appalling and his leadership skills have been MIA. While the economic stimulus may have been somewhat successful, the lack of oversight written into the bailout and stimulus bills is appalling. This President was great on the campaign trail but inept when it comes to actually governing. When will the electorate actually take a look at the resume of candidates? Obama's resume was thin and superficial, much like Obama himself.
Blame, blame and more blame. President Obama should take a good hard look in the mirror...70% of his promises met, yes I agree, the ones to destroy American capitalism and replace it with one of Government control and regulation over every aspect of our Society. Funny, an unemployed Republican wants a chance in the job market, an unemployed Democrat just wants more unemployment benefits..that says it all!
Some Democrats do not realize that its not just simple showing up at the ballot box on voting day. They have to be engaged like the Republicans are on a constant basis. Then again since the whole incentive for Republicans is money over social advancement, I see why it is an easier choice for them to make.
Going to the "Rolling Stone" and to college campus is the only way this clown will come close to being re-elected. Going to the kids and the people with their hand out is how he became president. Hopefully the kids will smarten up. We know the people with their hand out will vote for him. It's a sad day in America when there are as many people that don't pay taxes as there are those that do.
Wonderful. Republicans have repeatedly tried to block any progress on "Obama's Agenda," totally crippling our legislative process, all in the name of winning the upcoming midterms, and the President kicks his base. Amazing.
It would appear that obama believes his Democrats and others should accept his explanations that everything wrong is the fault of former president George Bush and people should get down on their knees before him (obama, the great one). Failure to capitalize obama is by design, not a typo.
Obama scolding dems is shameful behavior on his part. It is his outrageous agenda that has put the democrat party in such a predicament. If this man had the slightest expertise at creating an environment where the nation's economy could start improving in a meaningful way the dems would not be in political hot water. The arrogance of this man is unbelievable.Dems walked the plank for this man's policies and this is their reward.Well, pay back will come in 2012 !!!
This President is REALLY SCARY. Honestly. He is maverick. He is WAY left which will only make a small percentage of this country happy. He is out-spoken against Fox which makes him look almost dictatorial–if he had his way, he's probably shut them down "for the good of America". Seriously...anyone else getting just a little scared? He will have to move to the center (a long way for him) in order to be healthy for our nation. Let's make sure we vote for a fiscal conservative with at least a moderate social agenda who will listen to the people. He's making me nervous.
I couldn't hold in one more thing. The man may be brilliant but that doesn't mean he wasn't prepared for the office and it doesn't mean he isn't wrong about a lot of things...or at least some very important things. We seriously overreached when we hired him...and now he's on the loose in a bad way.
Go Mr. President! I can't stand the professional left anymore. ANYONE of the so-called Dems who votes for the republicans, I hope with ALL my heart you get exactly what you deserve. I hope your sons and daughters are shipped off to unnecessary/unfunded wars, you lose your jobs, your homes and your health care. Instead of helping our president they do nothing but complain and back stab him at every chance. I almost wish the country would get republican leadership again. Maybe this time they will appreciate how how hard you have been working. So go ahead and vote republican so I can buy a new bumper sticker that says "Banana Republic Forever".
Democrats. Right For America.
Obama, you dont represent a good section of the democratic base, just Sarah Palin doesent represent the majority of the republican base... its like you were made for eachother...
I'm upset at Obama for not acting like the leader of the Democrats. He needs to look into the mirror when assigning blame. The Democratic party is in disarray because they lack the strong leadership that is the hallmark of the Republicans. As much as I despise the right, I do have admiration for their ability to focus and work as a team. How else could they still effectively control congress despite being heavily in the minority and having policies that are the opposite of what most of the public actually wants? Just look at any poll where they ask people their view on issues without bringing politics into it and you'll see most people like Democrat policies even if they don't realize it.
I will be there voting as I always do, I don't know if my vote will get me what I want or what I believe is best for our country but I will be there to cast it because that is what I believe in. By voting I have a say, no matter how small, in how I believe this country should be run and the policies it should follow.
The arrogance is astounding.
I read the article and you're headline is misleading. If you read the entire article, he is not talking necessarily to dems themselves but about the media's perception. As a dem who has seen the crop of repubs and teabaggers up for election, I am definitely motivated to vote...for dems! Obama may not have accomplished everything he wanted to but he is doing fairly well. All of the far left liberal out there....stop whining and support your president because the alternative would be disasterous!
He is absolutely right. I hope people listen.
Obama scolds 'irresponsible' Dems
Is this fool a President or just a non-stop campaigner?? Wait until the American voters "scold" the Progressive DemocRATS next month for their IRRESPONSIBLE and RECKLESS policies that have made a bad situation ten times worse. Nobody voted for a Socialist makeover in 2008 but that is what they have jammed down our throats no matter what we have said. VOTE THEM ALL OUT.
He's right! Vote Democratic in November for continued positive progress and results! Vote Republican for destruction of the middle class and a return to the dark ages.
Obama is a legend in his own mind! He is upset at folks that have discovered what he stands for and choose not to vote for him! This dude is one arrogant SOB.....
Sounds like its everyones fault but his own. Maybe he should just crawl back to his hole in Chicago.
I think they call this the Messiah complex......
What accomplishments? You mean setbacks!
I dont get most of the comments. If you are part of the new rep. tea party, then I understand (you have been watching fox news and beck for too long) but if you are a dem., how could we simply sit idle and criticize .. if you don’t like something do something about it. But sitting on the sidelines and letting the rep. tea party take over and start wars after another (believe me Iran is next, middle and lower income family are also in line, the environment, social security, medicare / medicade, Gay's equal rights, the fed deficit etc...) is inexcusable at best - So, what is exactly your plan Dems.. sit on the sidelines until the new extremist rep. tea party (this is not the neocon, but neocon on steroids) take over, then wake up and act (... unfortunately, I don’t think the US can handle another blow like the 8 years of W)… To ALL DEM WAKE UP and VOTE this NOVEM
The president hasn't fallen short of his promises. He's done a great deal despite the stupidity of the GOP destroying America one vote at a time.
Dear Mr. President:
You are doing superb work; perhaps we really need to be in campaign mode. Your accomplishments have been remarkable, but all too many of the American people are not getting the message. Perhaps they are watching FOX "News" which is not news at all.
Suggestion CNN: A series–a long-running series–on FOX News and its supremely low journalistic standards would be most welcome. And Americans should know much, much more about Rupert Murdoch. This man has done great evil to this country. Perhaps CNN can even issue a handbook (online and/or hardcopy) of false claims made by FOX News over the years.
He lashes out at everybody except himself. Some uniter!
As Abraham Lincoln said: "You can fool all of the people some of the time; some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time." The people now see Obama for what he truly is.
Looks like we are in constant campaign mode. When will he start governing?
As Abraham Lincoln said: "You can fool all of the people some of the time; some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time." The people now see Obama for what he truly is.
I think he's done better than anyone else could have with all the republicans, rush, and faux news holding on to both his ankles the whole way..... hes one man people.... we need the entire base to stand up and vote the right out this fall. Otherwise, its back to failed Bush policies and more than likely, another recession.....
If Obama has completed 70% of his campaign promises, then I must be on the Moon. 70%? Really? I do not believe that for one moment!
I cannot help but recall the very first lie that Obama committed. When he was campaigning, I remember him specifically saying, "No former administrators and no former lobbyists" in the White House. What was the VERY first thing he did when became president? He put in former administrators (of the ol' Clinton era) and former Lobbyists. What else? He nominated Bill Richardson to be Secretary of Commerce!!! The man who is currently (and was at that time) under a federal investigation for corruption! How in the world do we trust this man? I know I did when he was running for president. Because of him, I will probably never vote Democratic again. He shattered all the trust I could have had for someone like him.
I am one of those people he is trying to "revitalize". I never voted or became interested in politics until his man energized me into it. Many more people are like me in that respect. Now? Many more people are probably like me in that they regret their vote. Good luck, Mr. Obama, because I sincerely doubt you will be able to get these people to vote for you again.
In summary:
Blame Bush................Check.
Blame Republicans.....Check
Blame Fox News........Check
Blame "the rich"..........Check
Blame Blue Dogs....... Check
Well done, Obama... you haven't forgotton anyone, have you?
What's wrong, Tin Man? Just because you're not getting what you want, it's all of a sudden someone elses fault? "Whaaaa ... the Dem base doesn't like me." "Whaaa ... FOX News doesn't like me." "Whaaa ... Congress doesn't move fast enough." Seriously, how can anyone respect a guy that does nothing but complain? No wonder his poll numbers keep falling.
JFK said "ask not what your country can do for you, ask what can you do for your country. In our bad economic time when Americans needed our statesmen/women the Republicans voted NO, that's called "Dereliction of Duty". Now Republicans want a YES vote from Americans because it's what they expect the country to do for them and not what they have proven to do for our country. Furthermore, Republicans have replaced the Bible which they pledged upon with their so-called "pledge to America", why because of their "DERELICTION OF DUTY". THINK ABOUT IT.
Who cares what this man says anymore. He needs to stop talking and get back to work. First his attacks FOX and now he attacks Dems who don't support his agenda. I can't see how he is going to get re-elected. If 70% of the comments on CNN are negative about the POTUS, then that is saying something...Go look at the article where he calls FOX News destructive. He is losing support all around.
This is getting pathetic. Straight up, pathetic.
Okay, so now the President is unhappy with voters who put him in office that he hasn't done anything for and now they don't want to vote for their party again, he's unhappy with President Bush, and he's unhappy with Fox News – maybe he is beginning to understand how the rest of us feel. We're unhappy with jobs, taxes and the games played in Washington – glad to see you might be starting to "finally get it"!
Scold yourself Mr. President. Us voters have lost hope in you due directly to your lack of focus on priorities, half-baked legislation, image obsessed leadership style, and not being able to offer any clear strategy on our pool of problems. Take a look in the mirror and in your own house for the people to lash out at. It may be time to admit that the job handed to you was too big.
Oh poor Barry, he's going to take his ball and go home. Bo Hoo.
Face it, Mr. President......your own party is unhappy with you!
Hi Mr. President:
You have NOT been able to do the job that you told us that you will and you have mislead us about your abilities and intentions during the election. We are the ones who have the right to complain but now you complain us !!. Do you think that American do not have brain? do not have feeling? we are just puppets for you to play around with?
Perhaps Obama should blame Democrat lawmakers who have no spine, no vision and no conviction of their ideals. All they are worried about is winning the next election.
Speaking only for myself – but since I am part of the "base" – I plan to get out there and vote in november, but President Obama needs a reality check if he thinks he's delivered on 70% of his promises. He's fallen horribly short of nearly all of them...and frankly, the compromise on health care (although expected) is one of the biggest thorns in most peoples side...because in the end the people compromised for, didnt even support the final bill. That compromise was pointless and I cant help but wonder what level of stupidity it takes to not grasp that.
I wont deny that he's been working on a lot of things, but considering he's not out there touting all the great things he's done...it suggests to me even he realizes he's not done anything great yet. "having worked on" those promises doesnt count as delivering.
1. Why should we care what is at stake this election? Lets rethink this, it should be What is at stake in the countrys future.
2. Obama is "advancing the same foreign policies as the hawkish Bush administration." No!? what did you expect from picking between mccain and obama? Not a very good choice. I believe this country needs MAJOR reform or we will be watching this entire existance of a experiment dissipate into history and watch all the other countries that would love to string us up knot the noose.
The President is absolutely right in scolding the Dems. The Dems ought to ask themselves. "What were you expecting when you elected Mr. Obama in 2008 as our President?" Were you expecting that he would fix the country's problems in 21 months? Look at his accomplishments in 21 months; health care, financial reform, small business tax cuts and financial assistance, etc. Were you expecting that he would have to come talk to you everyday like a parent talks to his/her children? Let's be grown ups; the problems of this country are decades old (both the Dems and the Repubs are responsible for the mess) and need thoughtful and careful planning and execution to address them. Give the President time and most importantly give him your support he so badly needs. If the Dems or the Progressives on the right sit out the elections this year, they would be doing a disservice to their country, to the Party, to the President and most importantly to themselves and their families and children. The elections of this year are perhaps the most important. If the power shifts back to the Repubs, then rest assured we will revert back to the failed policies of the Bush Administration.
It is about time these folks understand that nothing is made for you. You go out there and fight hard and not give up until you WIN. It is called PERSEVARANCE
THAT'S RIGHT!!! It's time to start dealing with these cowards who will stand for nothing. We had to drag them along through the entire Healthcare debate, and now they're running scared from their accomplishments in order to appease, a minority of fringe Hannity followers. It makes no sense.
I can picture Al Gore, back in 2000 when only after the election did he realize what a mistake it was to distance himself from Bill Clinton.
Be prepared to make the right decision on the spot without fear, rather than having to think regretfully in retrospect Dems. Get it together; we have work to do...
He's right. Dems need to get off their pity pots and vote in November. He's doing the best he can considering the constant blocking by the Repubs. And please look at the alternatives, from the lunatic Sharron Angle to the idiotic Christine O'Donnell. Are they and their ilk what you really want in Congress? I certainly hope not!
Why is the president having a lengthy interview with Rolling Stone? Why not a news journal?
Good. He is correct. The people who voted for Senator Obama may be unhappy that President Obama can't wave a magic wand and change the direction of the ship of State. Well, here's a heads up for you all; NO ONE CAN CHANGE THIS COUNTRY FOR BETTER OR WORSE BY HIMSELF.
Face it folks, the only way we can have good governance from either party is to eliminate money from politics PERIOD. I do not buy the argument that money = free speach. If that's true then only the wealthy have a voice and that is not democracy.
Obama to Democrats, "How dare you vote based on my record and resutls thus far!".
Obama is truly out of touch with reality. He scolds 'irresponsible' Dems for what? Not wanting his failing policies? Not holding him accountable for numerous failed campaign promises? He needs only to look at his party's policies to see where the problem is. Democrats had a chance to prove their worth being in control of congress and the presidency, yet they have failed miserably and continue to blame Republicans, even when they are split on the issues themselves. They've had their chance and blew it with their own greed and corruption. A prime example of why one party should not hold complete power if there ever was one.
["...he was too eager to compromise on health care, hasn't pushed hard enough for gay rights, and is advancing the same foreign policies as the hawkish Bush administration."] This was said about President Obama!!
THOUGHT:
Okay – GAYS – sit home and watch where Don't Ask Don't Tell" goes!! Out the back door! How about all of the other gay rights you are fighting for – GOOD LUCK with that if the EXTREMIST take over!!!
CITIZENS OF AMERICA: We already see the 'benefits' of Health Care Reform. Take notice – the RepubliCAN'Ts are campaigning FOR Health Care Reform MORE THAN the Democrats. Have you noticed that they are NO LONGER SAYING 'repeal' HCR??? Instead, they are picking HCR apart; taking out the GOOD POINTS (which is 90%); scraping what’s NOT good and they will end up getting CREDIT for something President Obama and the DEMOCRATS have accomplished WITHOUT THEM???? WAKE UP, Dang!!
FOREIGN POLICY: You can say what you want on the STUMP – but when you get in the HOUSE it is different – especially when you have access to ALL of the TOP SECRET documents that ever existed!!! But besides all of that, President Obama ALWAYS stated that he will end the war in Iraq – ENDED!!! He always said that he will send more troops to Afghanistan to finish that war – HE DID!!! What the heck is WRONG with YOU people – meaning the POLITICIANS and the VOTERS!!!
Please America – go see a doctor and find out WHY you’re suffering from Short Term Memory Syndrome at such a young age (if you are young). And if you are OLD, still go see a doctor and see if he/she can prescribe something – and STOP watching FOX NEWS all the time – that in itself is a Health Hazard!!!
DEMOCRATS – make the politicians in your area STATE the CASE and mean it – UNITE the BASE and believe in it – WIN this RACE in November 2010 – WE have to ‘get there’ first BEFORE 2012!!!
This is T’SAH the Original Liberal – and I approve this message.
The President should follow the advice of his Vice President who chastised Democrats for whining too much. Obama has been whining about Republicans, Fox News, and now Democrats. America wants a leaded, not a whiner.
I think most dems are realizing that he is no different then the Bush administration and have given up on him. I put myself in that category.
Obama loves bailing out crooks and failed companies just as much as Bush.
I don't blame Dems for being mad.
The President is correct, with friends like some of the Democrats, you don’t need enemies! Sad, when you have the opportunity to do a lot of good work for the people and some are to chicken to take it!
Mirror mirror on the wall, who will get their tail kicked in the fall
I agree with the President and find it appalling that the mood of democrats to fight 8 years of Bush in 2008 has dissipated when the fight now is against an EVEN WORSE EVIL– TEA PARTIERS even more crazy-drunk on Beck/Palin/Hannity. That's why I can't wait to vote in November, am donating to Organize for America, and am considering volunteering.
Sounds like the man is coming apart at the seams......lashing out against everyone......his own party, dem voters, fox news, political opposition, people leaving the WH........apparently he doesn't believe in freedom of the press or our constitution......he's sounding a liitle like Hugo Chavez
My family, Neighbors,Churchmembers and friends are voting for Democrats in Nov. just like we did in 2008. We know as hardworking Middle Class and Upper Middle Class Americans the Democrats care about us.
Obama went on to describe his administration as the "most successful in a generation in moving progressive agendas forward," and said it was flat out "irresponsible" How arrogant and ignorant this guy is.obama is a huge failure ,the people have lost confidence in him.
So President Obama is "scolding" the base for complaining that he failed to carry through on the platform for which he was elected (and in some cases doing the opposite). That's the way to energize the Democratic electorate! He cannot regain their trust and their votes by punishing them. And Joe Biden telling the disillusioned and angry voters who ELECTED them to "stop whining" is adding insult to, well, insult.
Mr. President, it might be that the majority of American's didn't elect you to move a progressive agenda forward. They elected you because you were not Bush. Sadly, you spend like Bush, you grow government like Bush, you follow Bush's war strategy in the middle east, you support expanding police state powers like Bush ...and you are just as partisan as Bush. It's no surprise folks are disappointed in you.
YOU SAID IT, MR. PRESIDENT!! I couldn't agree more. I'm a Dem and I'm tired of all the whining and complaining in the party. We all need to get off our behinds, be responsible and do OUR JOB to promote your/our policies! YOU CAN'T DO IT ALONE!! WE ARE YOUR BASE!!!!!! SO GET OFF YOUR DUFFS AND MOVE DEMS!!!!!!!
It isn't "low enthusiasm," it's their disgust in Obama's agenda that he kept secret during the election.
I feel the dems should stand up and fight for the agenda that got Obama and themselves elected. Quit running scared of polls and fox news.
You will drink the Kool-Aid, and you will like it.
The real source of the problem is that he inherited a big mess. It wouldn't matter who was president or which party controlled congress. The party in power when life gets hard gets blamed whether they had anything to do with it or not.
He is correct! He has accomplished more that half of what he promised in two years. However, with the negative folks who keep complaining and the ones getting media attention and it is wrong. If Democrats don't vote, we will be back to where we were before and it will be a sad day in America. The Republicans will gain control out of pure stupidity.
I agree with President Obama. The democrats don't know what to do with their majority. Everybody goes for self and refuses to acknowledge a common agenda greater than their individual desires. The President just articulated what most people already know.
"most successful in a generation in moving progressive agendas forward," Er...umm. That is why nobody is excited. Why would someone get excited (in this country anyway) about the destruction of the freedoms of U.S. citizens being crushed under the massive taxation to fuel a socialised government?
I think we are seeing the real Obama and he's not all that charismatic. He pouts when things don't go his way. He needs to grow up.
We definitely are thinking about what is at stake in this election: vote for Republicans and there's a chance the country may be restored or vote for Democrats and seal it's fate as a third world nation or worse. Does Obama still not realize that we will not tolerate the radical changes he is trying to force on this nation?
Its about time the Obama administration made some health care reform promotions to support the bill. This should have been done the day the bill was signed into law. The GOP propaganda is winning over the hearts of the voters. Its a sad time in America when we turn back to those who harmed us for help. Sad
America doesnt deserve Obama as a President. He is the leader of the intelligent and the common sensical. Unfortunately America isnt this type of country. Its blue collar cowboy conservatism. Bible thumping war mongering bully on the block.
Its not that Obama is doing a bad job, its that the idiots outnumber the intelligent, and have no clue what is good or bad for them, just what the screaming voices from the right fill their empty heads with. Raise my son abroad, unpatriotic? Maybe, but raise my son with intelligence, and an open mind toward other cultures, ethnicities, or religions, I'd be doing the rest of the world a favor.
Sincerely,
Anthony (army vet, college grad, hard working tax payer)
Democrats are no different from Repuplican supports...they are just as dumb and forgetful. To think that anyone would be interested in voting for Republicans on a 8 yr (Bush – Republican) 2yr (Obama – Dem) split in the office is incredible. It shows how fickle, dumb, and inpatient we are as a society. Bush took 8yrs to kill the economy while making corporations rich and somehow Obama was supposed to clean it up in 2yrs. Vote Republican and watch how nothing gets done and more people suffer as the rich get richer and the middle class becomes the new poor.
Who are they polling???? The Democrats I know (in several states) are working gung ho on GOTV for November. The stakes are too high to sit this one out. Many are energized by the tea partiers in our midsts as we watch experienced, honest, hard working candidates bashed by opponents who wouldn't even get a job interview if these were private sector jobs. We are patriots, too, and we will vote in November. We just don't get any notice in the mainstream news.
"...and while I am at it. Go out and find a job. Then give 25% of your wages to the jobless. Buy health care or you will be fine...never mind about Grandma. We are no longer in Iraq. Except 60 plus K. Me, Me Me,...."
"It is inexcusable for any Democrat or progressive right now to stand on the sidelines in this midterm election," the president told the magazine. That's what's great about America, we can stand wherever we please. Face facts Mr. President, you are the reason for their attitude.
The Democrates had better out and vote or we might end up with a bunch of idiots like Palin.
I can understand Democrats being frustrated that things haven't gotten fixed faster, but Bush screwed this country up so badly that it's going to take a long time to repair the damage.
And I'm not happy with the Democrats, but I'm still not about to let a bunch of Republicans get control again. They have become a radicalized theocratic party, and theocracy has destroyed every country that's ever tried it. No thank you, I'll stick with the imperfect Dems before I let Republicans back in. I'm not voting for Dems, especially, I'm voting AGAINST Republicans, and that's more than enough to motivate me!
So when Obama says "It is inexcusable for any Democrat or progressive right now to stand on the sidelines in this midterm election" is that because there is still just a small PART of the country he hasn't ruined yet? So when he said he wanted to "fundamentally change our country" he meant he did not want it to even SURVIVE his four years in office? This country is literally on the verge of surviving and I think enough people recognize that stopping this catastrophe of an administration is a requirement if we are to have ANY resemblance to the great country we once grew up in where those that work hard succeed and those that do not work hard fail.
In the interview with Rolling Stone (humm, didn;t we see Mcchrystal in here) the president scolded Democrats and lambasted Fox News. In recent weeks he sued the state of Arizona; blasted Michael Steele; labeled the GOP the problem why he has been unable to fix the economy; and blamed President Bush for everything else.
I for one do not need a finger pointer and whiner in the oval office. I need a leader with the ability to build consensus; work across the aisle; and do what is best for America. If this is all we have to look forwrad to now, when the GOP takes over the Senate majority and perhaps the House as well, Obama might as well resign and go home to Chicago. Maybe he could challenge Emmanuel for the city's mayoral position.
we need to start callin thos old scold. Auntie Obama.his first job with any accountability.
Wow, the wheels are coming off...
Just what the Base needs,Obama and Biden confusing the fact the voters are not apathatic but discouraged about the current agenda of the President.
Do you still not understand why he is called an elitist ?
Look at the leaders in socialist countries and you will see
the same arrogant scolding of their citizens. If you disagree
with Obama, then you must be ignorant .
That's the persona of the Maos, Stalins, Castros, and Chevezs.
I am so sick of this arrogant administration–and I'm a democrat!
Scolding the Democrats for whining and complaining???? Please, WHO has been complaining and whining ever since HE took office! I inherited this mess, it's Bush's fault, it's the Republican's fault, etc. are the complaints we have heard ever since the beginning of his Presidency. Mr. President, you are a leader and you need to rally the PEOPLE and stop blaming, whining and complaining yourself!!! Stop the arrogance and get on with it because we need someone to lead this country back to it's greatness.
Obama went on to describe his administration as the "most successful in a generation in moving progressive agendas forward,"
Translation: Obama's is the most nearly socialist administration in American history, eclipsing even FDR's.
What this idiot fails to understand is that even most Democrats don't want socialism!
The man is right. He is not a magician, but he has moved the ball forward in many areas, in the midst of the wost economic climate in eighty years and in the face of the concerted effort of the GOP to thwart his every action, for their own political aims. There is no going back to the "leaders" and policies that almost brought America to its knees. Think a little bit before you pull that lever.
As long as there are republicans, it will not be easy to move our country forward. Jim DeMint and his cronies from "C" Street have decided it is better to have America move toward becoming a third world country, than debating issues and voting your conscience. We have DeMint and the Bush/Cheny republican culture of corruption to blame for taking us to the brink of a great depression. How could a sane person justify the Republican's unfunded tax cuts for the wealthy, unfunded drug programs, largest growth in government in modern history, bank bailouts, deregulation, voting against health reform which lowers the deficit, voting against every job creation measure, and refusing to fund our servicemen?
OK, let me get this straight......this is what great leaders do??? When things don't go their way they; 1. Blame the Choir 2. Blame the former leader...."Bush did it" 3. Attack the only one who is reporting the truth....Fox News!
It is amazing but really simply exposes Obambi's true colors; he has 99% of all the media slobbering over him and yet the 1% who reports the truth, he attacks! Why? Because there is nothing else he can do! He has no agenda of which he and his cronies can run on......he has no plans other than growing a bigger government. But the saddest thing of all is he and all the left liberal Dems believe the American public is stupid and too dumb to think for ourselves! All Obambi has had experience with is his "community organizing" skills, where he pointed out entitlement programs to uneducated, illegal, and ignorant minorities and thus he has concluded the American public fits into that one mold! Why else would anyone be so out of touch!
Obama is frustrated with the low enthusiasm among Dem voters. Maybe voters are frustrated with the low enthusiasm among Dem congressmen who pass bills without knowing what is in them.
Scolds ? That's kind of a loaded word. What he did was implore his base to keep up the fight and not fall prey to the media bias that skews his every action and word in a negative light. How about "challenges" or something to that effect ? Lets not add to the Republican propaganda machine....
He's one to talk about irresponsibility!
I vote only for politicians who go happily to bordello, and leave happier.
big man, who you talking about the BigShow from the WWE, because if you are talking about B. Husseni Obama you are talking about a bug.
dead man coming through...
what you people don't understand is that george bush blah blah blah.
The only logical reason this one term sales pitchman failed to mention MSNBC as a biased and destructive "news" program is he doesn't watch it like most Americans.
