2012 Watch: Palin, Romney, Gingrich face unfavorables

(CNN) – Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney, and Newt Gingrich all appear to be at a disadvantage as the start of the 2012 presidential race looms – at least according to one metric.

More Americans appear to dislike than like each of the potential GOP White House contenders, according to a Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll released Wednesday.

The survey found Gingrich has a 24 percent favorable rating, while 35 percent of Americans view him unfavorably. Romney has a 21 percent favorable and 30 percent unfavorable rating. Palin - the best known of the group - has a 30 percent favorable and 48 percent unfavorable rating.

Americans are split over Mike Huckabee - 26 percent view him favorably while 25 percent do not.

The poll reflects the fact that a plurality of Americans have yet to form a strong opinion either way when it comes to Romney and Gingrich - even as both have maintained an elevated national profile over the last two years.

Palin fares better when it comes to Tea Party supporters. Among that group, nearly two-thirds give the former Alaska governor a positive rating.

Gingrich and Huckabee also have net positive ratings with self-identified Tea Party backers. Romney, however, is disliked by almost 40 percent of Tea Party sympathizers.

The poll was conducted September 22-26 by telephone and carries a sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

I feel very sorry for Romney to be lumped into that group! But even Mitt is not fit to go up against Obama and the Democrats! Sorry Republicans, you lose!

Please let them nomincate Palin with the witch lady as her running mate. That would keep us laughing all the way to election.

Palin wounded John McCain and now she's doing the same to the Republican Party. Whether I like Karl Rove or not he knows the Republican party has become a disfunctional family with those in Washington who are clueless of their plight. In order words, Rove probably knows they have become a bunch of idiots.

In last week's polls ,when the question referred to "generic" candidates ,Republicans were crowing about their chances in 2012 " . When actual candidates are named, not so much love from the base. Maybe the Tea Party's Alaskan darling will run, then the fun will begin.

Well, what do you expect??? Thay all have the "Scarlet Letter" (R) after their names don't they???? Wasn't it just yesterday that they voted "NO" (yet again – no surprise there) on a bill that would tax companies that send jobs overseas and at the same time give tax breaks to companies that put Americans to work???

A vote for republicans is a vote against YOU...........

    Unfavorables? Really?

Newt, a sociopath who cheated on his wife while she had cancer and said "I have things to say, it doesn't matter how I actually live?"

Palin, a nasty, hypocritical grifter who sold out her public service for money and has the intellect of an avocado and the conscience of a snake?

Mittens, who bragged about how smart he was for washing dog mess off of his car when he was dumb and cruel enough to strap the dog to the roof in the first place?

I can't imagine why anyone would find those three darlings unfavorable...

"Unfavorable" is putting it mildly for these three. Repugnant is more like it.

Just an advice to all three; Sarah, Romney and Gingrich: Don't waste your time, energy and money and throw yourself in 2012 campaign. There is no way you are going to make it again. It has never happened in American history and you are not going to make one either!

    How about "unelectables."

Any one of those three stooges would force me to vote for Obama in '12. Lets not forget Mike Huckabee though, he could be Shemp, the stooge no one liked and another Obama vote getter.

And most people right now hate Obozo and he has a ZERO rating, but then again there is nothing we can do about it until 2012.

Another hatchet job on the political types that CNN has a disdain for. This is why CNN will continue to lose viewers. They dream up some survey that have questions that can be answered in only one way and then turn around and use the results to slam a person or his or her ideas which they don't like.

How many "editors" did you go through CNN, to put a positive spin on these atrocious numbers?
Oh wait, you had to re-poll the Teaboogers in order to obtain a favorable tilt for these three screw-my-country losers.

Surprise ! Surprise ! CNN.........yes these three are unfavourable.

What did your think was going to be the result of your Network reporting on any and every stupid, destructive and devisive crap that Palin, Romney and Gingrich say each day? All I can say is please keep it up because what is actually happening is that the American people are finally waking up to steer clear of the pending train wreck if any of these three are ever allowed to get into the White House as President of the United States..

can see why no one likes these people, they are nothing but a bunch of racits. The whole republican party in DC are the same thing. The only thing they want is to bring the president down. We must be the laughing stock to the whole world.

  20. If you read in an email it is probably not true.

For the person out there who is putting out notices saying that healthcare reform is going to put a 3.8% taxes on real estate – That is not true. Just because you saw it in an email doesn't make it true. Please check out before sending on dishonest chain emails. That one got the "pants on fire" rating. It is too bad that so many people have been so misinformed about healthcare reform. They would like it if they knew the truth.

It is so amazing that you guys at CNN for the sake of rating and feeding the trough would start ginning-up Canidates for President within two years. Hadn't heard this, three months after President Obama was fresh in the office? Wow!, it shows and you make it known, you are desparate for viewers. I was an advid watcher, CNN once, but since you begin to go right with John King, and now Splizter and Parker, you will lose you most loyal fans. If this is the case, why didn't you not keep Lou Dobbs?

I have to say it is a good to hear that these people that want to return the country to a time that NEVER HAPPENED aren't as well liked. It just shows that there are some people who don't understand things that like these people. If I had to chose from these three question people to be a leader, I'd have to go with Gingrich because I know that at least he has a brain. Granted it is a bit of a twisted one with some questionable thinking.
