Mystery solved: Palin not booed

(CNN) - The big question surrounding Sarah Palin's appearance on "Dancing with the Stars" has been answered.

The former Alaska governor was in fact not booed on the ABC program.

Following a string of media reports questioning whether the studio audience gave Palin a frosty welcome when she was introduced, ABC released raw footage showing the boos were in fact directed toward judges who had - moments earlier - given contestants Derek Hough and Jennifer Grey an "8" for what the crowd believed was a better performance.

The speculation was spawned when, during the show's original airing, off-camera boos were clearly audible immediately before host Tom Bergeron began his interview with Palin. The former GOP vice presidential nominee was in the crowd to watch daughter Bristol compete.

"There's booing in the ballroom. We don't know why," Burke said then. Grey then asked, "Why is there booing?" before the camera cut to Palin and Bergeron.

Bergeron himself told ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Monday the boos were prompted by scores for Grey's performance and not Palin's presence. "They felt that Jennifer got screwed, that she should've gotten nines," he explained.

The media's rabid obsession with Palin is pathetic. I don't care for her in terms of wanting her as my president, but the hatred focused on her is over the top.

Nice try. It was aimed at her. The show was just trying to smooth over the situation.

Sure....riiiiight... The audience would never have seen the hosts planning for and then walking towards Sarah Palin before the cameras started rolling. DWTS could have easily avoided any controversy be simply cutting the booing out of the pre-recorded show. (portions of this event not effecting the outcome have been edited...). One of two things becomes evident then: 1) the producers/show/network "agree" with the jeering and wanted to make a political statement or 2) they knew it would cause controversy (no such this as bad publicity).

Agree with Palin's politics or not, a mom was there to watch her daughter compete. Shut up and enjoy the show. Palin was not there to make a political statement – neither should not have either...

She is so dedicated to America and her daughter, what a hockey mom ... and she quit her Governorship when the investigations began ... and she uses fear and hate speach to get good Americans to look the other way while the Republicans kick the working man into the ditch. Vote Democratic this Fall. A vote for Republicans is a vote for China.

I still think Palin sucks, and even more importantly, CNN should stop covering her. She is not a person of interest or an authority on anything.

That's not what people in the audience are saying.
    Why lie, ABC?

I would've booed her. Furthermore, I will never forgive John McCain for unleashing this shallow woman upon America.

Thanks to some creative editing, it appears as if Queen Ego was not booed after all. Just who do they think they're kidding? She was booed and she knew it. So did 90% of the audience. How about less kissing of SP's butt, CNN? Where has your integrity gone?

Very quick thinking by ABC to make up a weak explanation pretending that the audience didn't boo Palin. Everyone I know, men/women, young/old, democrat/republican, intelligent/dumb (but no as much from the dummies), thinks Palin the Circus Clown is a disgrace to the United States.

Did any news media investigate whether or not DWTS/ABC PAID Sarah Palin to appear?

Grandma Grizzly hardly does anything these days without some sort of upfront fee.

Actually CNN, your headline yesterday was "Palin Booed" you did not mention that you were "investigating". What I want to know is, when there are hundred's of other major stories for you to cover and for us to discuss on these blogs why is CNN always putting Palin in front of us?

Sorry, but the half governor who was too stupid to finish her term was booed. No one likes her, and do the Palins have to get into everything. I can't stand her unattractive daughter with tree trunk legs stomp across the dance floor and get high scores from the judges when she is a loser like her mother.

I am soooo glad they have cleared that up! I was afraid the controversy might cloud the current attempts to bring the Palestinians and Israelis to the peace talks table. Now I can get some good sleep.
