Palin jousts with Rouse

(CNN) – Pete Rouse was just installed as White House chief of staff on Friday, but he's already been facing fire from Sarah Palin for over a week.

Now White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs is hitting back, calling the former Alaska governor's accusations "fairly silly."

Palin has made clear she's no fan of Rouse - the longtime top Obama aide who has been little seen in the public eye until his elevation to the top White House staff job.

Via several tweets over the last week, Palin highlighted the fact that Rouse - who lived in Alaska during the late 1970s and early 1980s - maintained his voter registration in her state despite not living there for nearly three decades.

"Alaska media slept on the job for how many years re: Obama senior advisor Pete Rouse's claim to be AK resident and 'local' voter? For shame," Palin tweeted earlier in the week.

Palin may be suggesting that Rouse maintained his voter registration and an address in Alaska so he could be a recipient of the state's yearly permanent fund dividend, which is usually worth at least $1,000. But according to local media reports, Rouse's name does not appear on the Alaska Permanent Fund dividend records.

Gibbs said Friday that Rouse has changed his voter registration to Washington, D.C.

But Palin's anger toward Rouse goes deeper than that, tweeting on September 22: "Alaska's Pete Rouse (@ least he claims to be 'Alaska') finally comes out of the shadows; Obama looks to appt him COS;strange doings in the WH."

Palin appears to have been no fan of Rouse for a long time. In her 2009 memoir, she accuses him of being among those in the Obama presidential campaign who allegedly tried to smear her when she was named McCain's vice presidential nominee.

She also accuses him of lifting Obama's "change" slogan from her own gubernatorial campaign in 2006.

"Every part of our campaign shouted 'Change!'" she wrote. "We were amused a couple of years later when Barack Obama, one of whose senior advisers (come to think of it) had roots in Alaska– adopted the same theme," she wrote in reference to Rouse.

Sarah Palin tweets "strange doing in the WH." It's called running a country, sweetie but bless your little heart for trying to keep current. You can read about Rouse as soon as People runs an article. In the meantime, try not to get in the way.

So first she said he wasn't an Alaska resident, Then she says he stole her "change' slogan from her campaign in 2006. So once again Sara wants it both ways. BTW I can't imagine Sara was the first to use "change" in a campaign maybe God just told her she was.

This woman is insane!! You can't hide behind facebook forever Sarah. You have nothing going for you except a bunch of rich men pimping you out. They are using you like a wharlot, and I see you enjoy it. What people do for money., You have no message for the people, and you are scared to face the real media. You hide behind Faux news, and spew hate on the television. If you we're real, you would go on news outlets and answer real questions. Your diction is horrible, and it took you how long to finish college? Once these rich men get what they want, you will be kicked to the curb. Let's face it, you are not running for Preisident in 2012, so stop fooling people. Just keep being pimped, and selling yourself for money. That is the only thing your are good at. Step out on faith and give a real interview. Oh, that's right, you don't know how. God help you and hell is a hot place. That's right, you are GOD!! Rause is erudited, and have a lot of temerity. He is from Alaska, and you moved there. Money is the root of all evil!! Go spend the weekend with Bill Graham's son. He will send the jet for you. Does Todd know about your encounters with him. I guess this is off the record Sarah, You will be a lonely old woman, and no one will want you. Bad things last forever!!! The people you step on on the way up: you will see them on the way down.

What is wrong with Sarah Palin is no small thing. When will people ask ... exactly with the dots connected would she run the government if, god help us, she had he chance. What policy statement has she ever written that has withstood scrutiny and which he can stand behind ... there is no there there with Palin.

Why is anything this woman says news? She quit her post as a public servant to pursue what....fame and fortune? She is not a political figure anymore...show me where she is running for an office or employed by our government and I'll drop it. Also , while the character Forrest Gump was inspriational in the movie, I do not want his real life long lost twin sister involved in anything that shapes the course of our nations future. Stop with the reports, articles and updates on Sarah Paliln Gump!

Wow, you mean Obama wasn't the first to use "Change" for a campaing slogan??!! It seems so extremely creative! Actually I think the first politician to use "Change" for their campaign was Charles Cotesworth Pinckney in a failed attempt to oust incumbent president Thomas Jefferson in 1804.
