Obama touts industry-led initiative for job training

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama announced another industry-led education initiative Monday, this time intended to ensure that the nation's community college graduates are well-trained for jobs in U.S. industry.

Obama told a meeting of his Economic Recovery Advisory Board, which includes business and labor leaders, that the Skills for America's Future initiative is a common-sense approach to a broader strategy of improving the ability of U.S. students to compete in the global workforce.

"The idea here is simple - we want to make it easier to connect students looking for jobs with businesses that will hire them," Obama said in remarks at a board meeting at the White House.

For once I agree with Obama (as much as I cringe saying that). However, job training doesn't do any good if you make it so difficult to actually afford to RUN a business that it keeps businesses from hiring!! When you tell the "rich" business owner that they must pay more in taxes, pay for their employees health care, and threaten to significantly increase their taxes due to Cap and Trade then why would a person STAY in business? With that kind of aggravation it is time to relocate a business to another "business-friendly" country or retire and sip Pina Coladas all day on a beach in the Carribean. Either way job training our next generation for jobs that will not be here will not help much. Let's start a job training program AND incentivize businesses to STAY in business and THEN we have an excellent economic growth plan!!

Is this guy for real? How can he tout for "job training" when his own policies are preventing industries from creating jobs? You can train all you want, but without jobs it's fruitless. He needs to stop living in his dream world and wake up to reality. The policies he set forth are killing jobs, all he need to do is get out of the way and let private businesses do what they do best. Once the private sector knows that the government won't intrude into their business, they will start hiring.

What we need to do is make everyone understand that learn is cool. There needs to be a huge culture shift so that kids learn to learn and understand as they are small. We have far too many icons that aren't showing how smart they are. Palin seems to be an example of that. People also need to know where the training programs are so that they can get the new skills that are needed and know where the jobs are that require these skills.

  4. 29 Days until Socialism dies in the United States

Now if Obozo and the DemocRATS would just stop attacking, demonizing, taking them over, regulating them to death and taxing them to death, maybe, just maybe, there will be businesses around that could offer these people a job!
