(CNN) – A new week brings revelations of another potentially embarrassing quote from Christine O'Donnell.
According to the Associated Press, the unlikely Delaware GOP Senate nominee said in 2006 that she was privy to classified information that China was engaged in a "carefully thought out and strategic plan to take over America."
"There's much I want to say. I wish I wasn't privy to some of the classified information that I am privy to," O'Donnell said during a Republican primary debate in 2006. She ultimately lost her campaign that year to be the party's Senate nominee.
"We have to look at our history and realize that if they pretend to be our friend it's because they've got something up their sleeve," she also said then.
O'Donnell's campaign has not responded to CNN's request for comment on the past remarks and exactly what information the Republican candidate claimed to be aware of.
The comments are only the latest in a string of past remarks that have recently come to light, threatening to further put O'Donnell's chances of victory in doubt. Most recently, O'Donnell has been forced to contend with decade-old statements that she once explored witchcraft and thought the theory of evolution is a myth.
O'Donnell, a longtime advocate for socially conservative issues, upset establishment candidate Mike Castle last month in the Delaware GOP primary. Recent polls show she trails Democrat Chris Coons by double digits.
