(CNN) – More bad news for Wisconsin Sen. Russ Feingold.
Feingold, a three-term Democrat, now trails Republican businessman Ron Johnson by 7 points among likely voters, according to a new McClatchy-Marist poll.
Fifty-two percent of likely voters are backing Johnson, while 45 percent support Feingold. Three percent remain undecided.
The poll results are nearly identical to a September CNN/TIME/Opinion Research Corporation survey which showed Johnson leading Feingold by six points, 51 to 45 percent, among likely voters.
Feingold and Johnson both have near-unanimous support from voters in their respective parties, according to the McClatchy-Marist poll. Johnson, however, has amassed a 23-point advantage among independent voters, 58 to 35 percent.
In a recent interview with CNN, Johnson said he's "trying to appeal to voters across the political spectrum. ... Democrats, independents, Tea Party folks and Republicans. A lot of us all share the very real concern about what happens in this country. So I am not identifying myself as a Republican real blatantly."
On the campaign trail, he said, voters are so concerned about spending and debt that "they don't talk about parties at all."
The race is virtually tied among the larger pool of 806 registered voters, where Johnson is clinging to statistically insignificant 45 to 43 percent lead.
The September 26-28 McClatchy-Marist survey of 503 likely voters has a sampling error of plus or minus 4.5 percentage points. The sampling error among 806 registered voters is plus or minus 3.5 percent.
Feingold has done nothing for our state, except run off businesses, raise taxes, expand entitlements, and we are sick of it!!!!! The entire state has to pay for welfare recipients in northwest milwaukee and we are sick of it! Milwuakee public schools had only 7% of students who met the minimum math and english standards, 7% !!!! And the milwuakee teachers Union had thier pay rise over 30% !!!!! And we all have to pay for it, and we are sick of it!! Feingold is spineless, the guy won't even come and be seen with the president when he is here. It's funny everyone who doesn't live in wisconsin thinks Feingold is so good, well I live in wisconsin and I can tell you that he stinks, and our state is suffering because of him.
He voted for the healthcare bill. That alone means he must go.
Rush Limbaugh has won!
Imagine this is actually happening. Rush Limbaugh to become the de facto leader of America. With a bunch of politicians vowing to take away all responsibilities of the Federal Government except security aka military superiority, Rush Limbaugh is poised to become the most powerful person on Earth.
Obama has failed!
This is a pleasant dream to become true for a few. A nightmare for the rest of humanity.
what is feingold trying to beat robert byrds tenure,,,, go retire ... been there to long ,, he is part of the problem with washington,,,new ideas ..no more lawyers...
Bye Bye Russ.
I hope the people of Wisconsin wake up and realize they are being played by the ultrawealthy predators seeking to replace true capitalism with feudalism as the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Feingold is a principled senator, his opponent is nothing of the sort.
Remember, if you liked the ditch the GOBPbaggers drove us into last time, you're gonna LOVE the canyon their aiming for now!
