Clinton laughs off VP rumors

(CNN) – Hours after White House press secretary Robert Gibbs poured cold water on the notion Hillary Clinton may take the VP slot ahead of the 2012 election, the secretary of state followed suit.

"I don't believe what I read," Clinton said laughing during an appearance at the 12th Annual Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit, adding: "I have absolutely no interest and no reason for doing anything other than just dismissing these stories and moving on."

"I think the vice president is doing a wonderful job. He is a great friend of mine," she continued. "We work together closely. He's an expert on foreign policy, chaired the Foreign Relations Committee in the Senate. We have a great relationship."

Rumors of a potential switch in jobs between Vice President Joe Biden and Clinton were stoked by veteran Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward during an interview with CNN's John King Tuesday.

Hillary as VP is simply a distraction to get the eye off the ball with the ball being the upcoming election. Hillary won't take another back seat to Obama and the last thing we want is Biden using the "F" word everywhere he goes if he were ever considered for S of S. Please, no more rumors.

  3. Joe from CT, not Lieberman

While I am sure a large number of the White House staff would love to get rid of Joe Biden with his barrage of verbal blunders, I cannot see how "the woman who would be king" would ever accept a number 2 slot. Also, here is something to ponder. President Obama is from Illinois. Mrs. Clinton was born and raised in Illinois, was the First Lady of Arkansas and the former Senator from New York. What state would she claim as her home? It could not be the one she shares with the President as by law, the Electoral College cannot vote for a President and Vice President from the same state!

Obama is an idiot, hillary isn't going to run on the ticket for that reason. If Obama wants the Democratic party to be successful in 2012 he won't run for reelection.

  5. 8 Years of having a drunken driver at the wheel put America in the ditch, why would working Americans return the keys to the crowd drinking at the same bar?

Another case of the media using speculation to "make" news, instead of just reporting the facts.

But then what would the cable bobble-heads and drama queens do to fill the space?

That's ok Hillary, who needs to go through that bruising process again with right wing haters hating on you and so called liberal men turning on you. I would love for you to pen a book about your run for presidencly.

Hillary reached her peak when she was First Lady. The rest of it has been a disappointment. Well, by that I mean disappointing if you expected anything of substance coming from her. I haven't been disappointed. She's a typical Democratic politician's politician.

Sorry to break it to you "dan smith" but Obama is going to be reelected in 2012, if for no other reason than because that there isn't one Republican candidate who has a shot against him. The closest might be Romney, but not even the Republican base wants to get behind him.

  10. 27 Days until Socialism dies in the United States

Just what would be the purpose of throwing Biden under the bus for Hillary? Does ANYBODY think even she can save Obozo from getting thrown out come 2012? How is that supposed to save us from his disasterous performance and socialist wealth redistribution policies?? All it would do is cost BOTH of them their job and Hillary any future position because of her close association with Obozo's abysmal record.

She isn't stupid enough to do something like this. It is funny though that people think THIS would save "The One" from getting tossed in 2012. My, my how "The Messiah" has fallen!

Tell that to Jimmy Carter... that's what they said in 1980. How'd that work out for ya?

You know......it is amazing how there are only 2 groups of people in the US.....those who want the government to "take care of them" (it's called entitlements) then there are the ones who "really" pay all the taxes, take risks, work hard, do not want the government in their business or personal lives. But the Liberal ones who want the government to take care of them are a minority AND DO NOT KNOW IT! They have been fed this line of baloney from the Liberal Media that they are the majority until they believe it!

Of course she is denying a run at the Vice President's job.. She has her eye on the President's job!!! She would steam roll him in a primary.. Americans finally have a record of accomplishments to evaluate Obama on and they do not like his far left liberal policies.....

I will be voting for the Republican on November 2, 2010 and November 6, 2012. It's the right thing to do for our country.

well, now we know why obama packed a plane full of correspondants, never boarded this same plane and ditched over to hillary's house.
some folk speculated as to what this "meeting" was all about...now we know. Hillary for VP.
Don't look now, but obama just might decide to move to resign the presidency, move to lousyana and collect fema checks.

We don't believe what we read either Hillary, especially most of the grammatically and factually-challenged posts found on this site from 'edjumacated' right-wingers!
You and out President are doing a great job. Godspeed.

I read somewhere where someone posted that the American empire is declining, and I would have to agree. It won't happen immediately, but it's happening quickly non-the less. The american people are now canibalizing there own in an act of selfish desperation. Instead of recognizing the errors from the past and driving government to address them. They are allowing themselves to be divided by special interest and the media for profit. The Obama administration is really the only option at the moment, as the repugs are a mess that needs to be re-invented, and not into a Tea party which does have some merit, but are really just a fringe minority playing into the fear generated by the same special interest. Where is the great country from world war 1 and 2? Why the tail between the legs, yes you have enemy's from without, but why allow that to destroy you from within?

Look, if Hillary was president, the people saying now that she should be president would be working just as hard to demonize and criticize her as they are with Obama.

Obama's more on track to be Reagan than Carter.

Fair is Fair: I would honestly like to know who do you think would be a good GOP candidate for 2012? I talk trash just like the rest of us on this site, but I really would like to know who do YOU see running against Obama in 2012 that would be taken seriously and be a truly viable GOP candidate.

Hey you "leg tingling Obambi lovers"........try something new for a change....."Think"....
1.Hillary doesn't want to be VP, she wants to be President!
2.Hillary will be 66 in 2012, now if she waits until 2016 to run for President, she will be 70.
    3. The chances of another Moderate Democrat (as Bill was) being elected, is far greater in 2012 than in 2016 simply because after 8 years of Obambi Liberal/Socialistic ruling.....the American people will certainly be ready to see a change.
    4. Obambi would welcome Hillary as VP for obvious reasons, but the Clinton's know they cannot trust him.

You Dems just need to face the facts; Obambi is a Liberal Socialist who does not know anything about real everyday business and life.....he only knows government based on a smorgasboard of idealogical views and beliefs. He will never govern from the middle or the right....
