Biden to Dem audience: You're dull!

(CNN) - Rule 1 of public speaking: Don't insult your audience.

But in the case of Vice President Joe Biden during a speech before donors in Madison, Wisconsin Thursday, that tactic just may have worked.

The vice president was repeatedly attempting to rile the Wisconsin crowd of donors in support of gubernatorial candidate Tom Barrett by listing a litany of Democratic accomplishments and warning Republican policies could put the economy back in a tailspin.

But the sleepy crowd's polite applause was not the reaction the vice president was hoping for.

"You're the dullest audience I've ever spoken to!" Biden declared. "Do you realize how many jobs Wisconsin lost? It's staggering!"

The crowd immediately laughed in response, with some rising to their feet in applause. Needless to say, the crowd appeared to make a more concerted effort to react to the vice president's overtones during the remainder of the speech.

Biden heads to the Seattle for more fundraisers Friday – where, presumably, the audience will be more caffeinated.

Why is it that republicans say it's not the govt's job to create jobs, yet hammer dems on the job losses? hmmmmm

I damn near fell asleep just reading this garbage again. I can absolutely sympathise with the crowd Biden had hostage.

"Do you realize how many jobs Wisconsin lost? It's staggering!"

And the audience applauded???? Definitely too much kool-aid. The administration is only just paying real attention to unemployment, and still don't understand what is needed to grow the economy. Their policies so far have failed, unemployment still rises, and Democrats find that something to celebrate. Dumbo and dumber.

Just think, a majority of the nation voted for a ticket that included this guy. Of course, he only got a fraction of a percent of votes in the primaries.

It is so sad that a part of the public that does not want to let facts get in their way when they criticize the President of the United States and the administration! The hateful comments, the outright slander, the misinformation they spread and japing about everything without EVER giving a hint of what they would do to solve the problems. Don’t talk about “lower taxes” or “small government” we know how the GOP handles that. All for the rich – nothing for Main Street. Please vote, but get informed, be responsible and smart. Don’t be fooled by the GOP/TP again!

No Joe. They're not dull. They're just not buying your B.S. anymore. People are miserable and the economy is in the tank. People are losing jobs, homes, cars and families are being torn apart because of this bad economy after YOU promised shovel ready jobs and haven't delivered. By insulting the audience at this event, you're really insulting the American people by proxy. Perhaps you should admit that your policies have failed and are willing to sit down with Republicans after they sweep the elections in November.

I hate to say it but Madison Democrats *are* pretty dull. They're the pro-business no-ideas establishment here, kind of like the Republicans are everywhere else except they're more willing to support/fund civic institutions and they occasionally pay lip service to the environment. If Joe had wanted lively he should have looked up Ben Masel or some of the lefty activists in my neighborhood or the urban gardeners all over the city :-)
