Biden to Dem audience: You're dull!

(CNN) - Rule 1 of public speaking: Don't insult your audience.

But in the case of Vice President Joe Biden during a speech before donors in Madison, Wisconsin Thursday, that tactic just may have worked.

The vice president was repeatedly attempting to rile the Wisconsin crowd of donors in support of gubernatorial candidate Tom Barrett by listing a litany of Democratic accomplishments and warning Republican policies could put the economy back in a tailspin.

But the sleepy crowd's polite applause was not the reaction the vice president was hoping for.

"You're the dullest audience I've ever spoken to!" Biden declared. "Do you realize how many jobs Wisconsin lost? It's staggering!"

The crowd immediately laughed in response, with some rising to their feet in applause. Needless to say, the crowd appeared to make a more concerted effort to react to the vice president's overtones during the remainder of the speech.

Biden heads to the Seattle for more fundraisers Friday – where, presumably, the audience will be more caffeinated.

And the crowd loved it. What exactly did he do wrong if they got up and applauded?

He is speaking to a crowd of Democrat liberal supporters for gosh sake. Most of them are medicated in legal or illegal fashion and they know what ever comes out of his mouth or Obama's is going to be a lie. Hard to get excited under those conditons.

The AUDIENCE is dull? Was it mentioned that you could hear the crickets creaking after Biden's asinine comment? Thank God we won't have to put up with Obama/Biden for much longer...those two clowns make Bush look like a Mensa candidate!

Everything out of this guys mouth will put an audience to sleep.
The only reason he' was there is because Barrett didn't want to be associated with Obama!

Everything Biden does can be explained with two words. Brain Damage. Look it up...

It is remarkable that people who think everything Biden says or does is false would bother to comment about anything Biden says or does. They really should have nothing more to say... unless they would like to propose actionable, real-world, apolitical solutions to our nation's problems that most can embrace and move forward.

Don't even begin to talk about Bush and looking like a Mensa Candidate. People easily forget what happened to them the further back the even took place. America was in a political coma during the Bush era. Talk about clowns! In the end the world treated us as clowns. President Obama remains tactful while Vice President Biden talks a little more openly. Like it or not iceaxedave is a small slice of the apple which makes up America as a whole.

CNN you claim: "Ticker: Biden quip raises brows " just who's brows were raised, I, for one, am tired of this tag line. You use it way too often and don't site any facts of brows being raised. Sloppy Sloppy

For many people, the raw honesty of both Obama and Biden is refreshing – the downside is that they can't say what I say most of the time, which is that the Republican's main goal is to stop forward progress on any issue that will force corporations to buck up, stop polluting, stop shipping our jobs overseas, start paying their fair share into our economy, stop giving the richest 2% tax breaks, start real investment into renewable / sustainable energy technology, stop neutering government oversight agencies, and stop their incessant lying and riling up those people that can't, won't, and refuse to learn truth which leads to them voting against their own best interests, etc, etc, etc.... It's just beyond me how so many people think that promoting partisan politics is a good thing – all our representatives and senators are accountable to US, the average citizen but instead they take the money and sell us all down the proverbial river! So Dems – grow a pair, shore up your backbones and start speaking truth, represent us with our best interests as your motivation for taking a stand and clean up these messes.

A desperate man with an empty promise. Biden was in charge of overseeing how the stimulus was spent and he was in charge of tracking all payments to ensure no pork projects and no mis-use. He failed miserably at that task. Those who spread lies and deciet need to be voted out of office starting at the top.

I guess the crowd screener will be fired adding to the unemployment lines... These hand picked crowds lend no credibility to the speech makers or speech content... This is all PR BS....

I guess it is hard to applaud wildly when you disagree with the message being served... People may be dull but they are not stupid... They understand what the Dems have not done for them and they acted appropriately toward your speech...

Maybe Joe should employ a warm up act to go on before him. Seriously though, the Democrats need to wake up and get out the vote. With the prospects of a Republican or tea bag group going into Congress just to obstruct and disrupt that will do no one in this country any good the Dems definitely need to generate some excitement about keeping them onboard for a few more years at least.Just the thought of the likes of Fiorina or O'Donnell sitting in positions of national power make my skin crawl.

Does these yahoo repugs knows how capitalism which they all think the dems trying to change into socialism actually works. Supply and demand is how capitalism works nimrod. The poor and the middle class are the demand side, the supply side is the rich and corporations. The repugs want to take money from the demand side by cutting programs and jobs to the people that spend and stimulate our local area businesses, to the rich and corporations which resource our jobs over seas.

"Do you know how many jobs Wisconsin lost? It's staggering." He forgot to say "...and Russ Feingold has been your senator the whole time, so re-elect him". Obama is famous for saying you can't do the same thing over with the same people and expect a different result, so vote them all out.

I would hope that Americans wake up before Nov. 2, and realize what harm the republican baggers will do if put back in leadership roles. Not only have the right sold their soul to foreign interest, but the tea baggers have become love slaves of billionaires.
