(CNN) - Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is raising the bar for Republicans, predicting they win enough seats in the midterm elections to take control of the House, and then some.
"I'm going to predict that we are probably going to be over 60 seat pick up and it will be historic," Gingrich said on Fox News. "It will be the largest pick up since 1932."
Gingrich said a high unemployment rate and the number of people on food stamps will contribute to a landslide in November. To become the majority party in the House, Republicans need to net 39 seats.
The comments come as Gingrich mulls a presidential bid, in a season where he has received national criticism for comments on race and religion.

I'm no Nostradamus like you Newt, but I am going to predict that in that calm moment of adult reflection in the voting booth, most Americans are going to realize which party has been working to move America forward and which one has been working for its own selfish interests and the GOP is going to be very surprised when their cynical approach to governance (and the truth) are soundly rejected. Gingrich is a sick, bitter extremist and has-been historical revisionist with some pretty serious personal issues. What is even sadder is that millions of Americans seem to sway to his tune.

When nearly 70 house dems are polling below 50%, the wave will easily carry another 30 seats that are near or within the margin of error... This wave will be unlike anything we've ever seen in our lifetimes, our parents lifetimes, or our grandparents lifetimes.
If Dems only get beaten like 1994, they should consider themselves very, very lucky.
Another prediction: The DOW will gain 150-200 points November 3, the day after the election.
Well at least Republicans are not seeking to put our country in bankruptcy nor have a government that controls everything in our lives, even what we eat as do Democrats. umm......the same party he is shilling for tanked the economy in the 2000s, leading to the Demoraic majority, and it was the party that nearly destroyed the United States in 1920s leading to the election he is referencing. As usual, newt is very confused. In 1932 Democrats were coming in to clean up the rpeublicon mess. This year it looks like republicons have suficient cash flowing from secret sources to get a chance to destroy the economy Democrats have been fixing for the past 2 years. If they will net 39 seats, does this mean there will be no loss in their side? And if there will be some losses does 39 seats number really matters! I get difficulties to get this maths right!
Newt needs to dust off his crystal ball. It's clouding his judgment, and will make many of his financial contributors mighty unhappy come Nov. Which is all he is fishing for now anyway. Donations. His own party is acknowleging that they really don't want the landslide they were predicting for the past two years. With no actual plans to speak of, the GOPers have finally realized that the reponsibility of actually having to come up with real solutions is too heavy a burden for them.

Did he really mean to invoke 1932? Does he think that was a landslide for Herbert Hoover? And does he really think all those people forced onto foodstamps are going to vote to end poverty and hunger by starving the poor (themselves and their children) to death for once and for all? Coming from a man who has bloated himself to immense girth on Congressional pay, this is downright unseemly.
In 1932 the American people got tired of a REPUBLICAN president that did NOTHING while the country went into a depression. His sucessor, a DEMOCRAT, did things to help the country that Libertarians and Republicans say today that were 'useless' or 'too much', but they helped him to get reelected so many times that the Constitution had to changed because of him...

Newt is totally disgusting, using "code words" like food stamps and unemployment which imply that just minorities receive these benefits which is a total lie. Check for yourself to see the percentage of non-minorities on food stamps over the past decades. FACT.
If this flipping fool runs for President and wins, I will strongly urge that he also be appointed Ambassador to Russia and sent directly to Alaska where he and Sarah Palin can both be rowed over to Russia. He and Tony Hayward can sit and tell lies to the Russians until they tire of it. They will know what to do with them after all the lies and it will not take 15 years from the date of conviction to carry out the sentence. One thing I like about Russia, Justice is swift. It's not always right but it is swift and final.
