Women's group endorses Brown on same day as 'whore' comment surfaces

(CNN) – California's National Organization for Women announced its endorsement for Democratic gubernatorial nominee Jerry Brown on Friday, the same day a taped conversation surfaced in which one of Brown's aides called the Republican candidate a 'whore.'

"As governor, mayor, and attorney general, Jerry Brown has promoted and defended women's rights," the group's president, Patty Bellasalma, said in a statement. "Jerry stands for fairness and equality and never ever backs down. We have every confidence that he will do the same as California's next Governor."

"For California women, actions speak louder than words. We know Jerry Brown's record, and we know Meg Whitman's record. The choice is clear. We strongly urge California women to vote for Jerry Brown for governor," Bellasalma added.

It's likely not a coincidence that the women's group released their endorsement on Friday.

Whitman's campaign manager Jillian Hasner responded Friday to NOW's endorsement, sharply condemning the group as a "partisan organization."

"Meg Whitman is a pro-choice woman who was ranked among the world's most accomplished women in business. She's now running to become the first woman governor in California's history, and on the same day that it's reported Jerry Brown's campaign called her a 'whore'; the National Organization of Women endorses him. It's official: N.O.W. is a partisan organization," Hasner said.

The group does indeed support several political issues that a majority Democrats support and a majority of Republicans oppose.

In audio first obtained by the Los Angeles Times, Brown and his aides discussed resisting pressure to cut public-safety pensions or face losing police endorsements to Whitman.

"Do we want to put an ad out? ... That I have been warned if I crack down on pensions, I will be ... that they'll go to Whitman, and that's where they'll go, because they know Whitman will give 'em, will cut them a deal, but I won't," Brown said.

Someone else said: "What about saying she's a whore?"

"Well, I'm going to use that," Brown replied. "It proves you've cut a secret deal to protect the pensions."

Brown's campaign apologized to Whitman on Friday.

And the truth hurts because? Let's add liar and somebody who has spent millions of her own dollars for her campaign. Does that tell anyone that maybe she is not that into the campaign?

If this does not prove that Democrat liberals are anti-feminists and the these feminist groups are really just fronts for the DNC and are hypocrites and liars, nothing does. Rush Limbaugh is right again and that shows why he is so savagely attacked, as well as Palin, O'Donnell and Angle. It is the Democrat liberal demeaning women, just like the Taliban.

Please. . .The definiton of the word "Whore" is: a venal or unscrupulous person. Do you think for a minute that Jerry Brown or anyone else for that matter would refer to Meg Whitman as a "Whore" a man or woman who charges money for sexual favors? My God have you seen the woman? Everyone in the political arena "whores" for votes and money. Lets just vote an get it over.

Do endorsements even matter anymore? As evidenced by this womens group, 95% of all of them are too partisan to be considered independent and or important.

Call Whitman for what she is a Repug, buying votes just like ole Mitchy out there in Kentucky out spendin when he ran.Who would spend 140 million on a campaign in a state she knows is as broke as a sailor the day after payday...Does she have any idea what she is getting herself into. She's into a real wakeup call if she won,Ha Ha..Another know it all CEO that thinks she can tell people to do things like her robots at E bay. Most of that state is union and don't like some ceo bimbo telling them what goes.Tell her go back, repair her burned bridges and get her job back.Politics make ugly bedmates, especially for a women, look what happened to caribou Barbie in Alaska..she thought she could lead ,but she ran away.Dems & Brown have it,good luck Dems!!

If you listen to the tape, he wasn't referring to the idiot that is running as a republican for governor of California he was making a comparison to the actions that had resulted in one of her idiotic comments!

As a woman, I am deeply offended that NOW did this. I just can't understand this at all.

By endorsing Brown, NOW says its OK to use the term "whore" for a woman, as long as the man's actions aren't sexist. That has to be the most perverse logic I've ever witnessed.

NOW should be protecting ALL women, regardless of political affiliation. It's ironic that a group fighting for gender equality is completely bigoted in another way.

This Women's group is a bunch of blowhards. At least Whitman has has business experience and made strides for women in the professional world. She has broken many glass ceilings and is sucessful. The problem with california ( and everywhere) is they elect lawyers and expect them to be effective. Heck at least the movie stars that were elected in california were business savy. Brown is not voter friendly to the tax payers. He did not cut property taxes when prop 13 was passed. As a previous cal resident I moved to another state because of the tax you to death policies and cost of living.

sexism, dehumanization, smears. . . all acceptable because liberal women ignore, condone, and promote hate against women who do not share their political views. the womens movement has been aborted. according to democrats, some women are more equal than others.

  22. TOTAL FACT

You get what you ask for. You already had this deadbeat for govenor before. Then you couldn't wait to get rid of him. But I gues all the homosexuals of California have forgotten this. Women always vote for the man. This is a thing they must do. Call it jeolously for they can not stand for another woman to get ahead of them. Right or wrong Californians will sink right along with Obama and his socialism push. Beware America of what you do. These people Democrats are traitors to the Constitution.

Jeff Simon and Castro News Network comically assert that the so-called, self-described "National Organization for Women" is a "women's group"! Hahahahahaha! The so-called, self-described "National Organization for Women" is a group of feminists (i.e., uber, ultra, hard and far left, virulent, militant, red-eyed, frothing at the mouth, hardline, America hating, fundamentalist, leftist extremist freakshow freaks).
