Rally shenanigans: Book thrown at Obama; naked man arrested

(CNN) – President Obama got the book thrown at him – literally.

In what was one of the president’s stranger campaign rallies, an unidentified individual in the crowd threw a book at Obama just after he wrapped up his remarks at the event in Philadelphia on Sunday.

The president did not appear to notice the flying projectile, which was caught on video, though it did appear to miss him by only a few feet.   It’s not clear what book in particular was thrown, or why.

In other strange rally news, police arrested a naked man who apparently was engaged in a publicity stunt for a website.

According to the Weekly Standard, the streaker was prompted by billionaire and social media guru Alki David’s pledge to pay $1 million to the first person who streaked at an Obama rally, so long as the streaker had David’s website written on his chest.

David told the Weekly Standard he would send money – in cash, not check – after he reviews the video.

Bush gets a shoe thrown at him which is considered an insult in many areas.

President Obama gets a book thrown at him. That could be considered assault.

As far as the naked man goes - I have to agree with David Niven at the Oscars when he said (paraphrased) that a streaker's only fame comes in showcasing his shortcomings.

"It’s not clear what book in particular was thrown, or why."

    Probably ECON-101.

In all seriousnes, though... while I'm by no means a fan of Obama by any stretch of the imagination, this type of action should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. Hopefully, the perpetrator gets the same punishment as the guy who threw shoes at Bush.

I can only guess it was a nutty conservative. At least it wasn't a shoe. I'm surprised the person didn't catch a beatdown.

These tea party right wing republicans sure who how much they focus on getting done – all the stuff that doesn't matter. Their protests reinforce that concept! I mean, throwing a book at the President and streaking – come on – if you are just the party of NO, than you need to sit down and let the big mature boys handle things.

What was the book? I saw another picture of it, and it appears to have been a book on the Constitution.

I honestly wish we could impeach or hold a recall election for Obama. Each time he attends one of these rallies he spends about a million dollars in travel and personnel expenses. Money that is not his to spend.

The most important aspic of the story is the title of the book! Bet it was a Glen Beck tone.

Dang – I think I would have STREAKED too – for a MILLION dollars!!! Then, I would have donated some to the Democrats!!! LOL.......... Nah, I don't think I would have STREAKED but it's okay to dream!!!

As far as the book thrower – at least we know it wasn't a Muslim; otherwise, it would have been a SHOE!!! This person should be CHARGED for attacking the President with a DEADLY WEAPON – there are THOUSANDS of WORDS in a book and each one of them should be counted towards his sentence!!!!

Why was he allowed to carry a book in there in the first place? When I attend some of President Obama's rallies, we weren't allowed to bring anything in – not even posters!! Posters were handed out!

CNN – once again – the title seems as if the BOOK THROWER is the STREAKER!!! "RALLY SHENANIGANS: BOOK TROWN AT OBAMA; ALSO, ANOTHER MAN NAKED ARRESTED............ that simple!!

Please pray for our President's safety – even though it was only a book – it's not right!!!

This is T'SAH from Virginia and I approve this message!

There are some people willing to do anything for money. With regards to the book, what book was it and what was the reason why the person (if caught) threw the book?

I wonder how FOX News will treat this? He'll no doubt make O'Rielly's Patriot list. And Hannity will make him a a honorary Great American.

Meanwhile, with candidates like Angle saying if they don't take back the government this November then they need to look at 2nd amendment solutions.

    The brown shirts are back.

Reprehensible. Make an example of this idiot. A couple of months in jail would teach him a needed lesson. The bigger issue though is paying people money to do something at a campaign rally. What's the next step, will someone pay for violence. The government needs to crack down on this in a big way.

P.S. The president continues to do a great job for the American people. We need more progressive democrats in office to give him the leverage he needs to fix the issues left by GWB and his administration.

Does anyone else see the "Anti- Obamaites," ie this millionaire, the Tea Party and their candidates and the rest of the ULTRA "Right" wing (Karl Rove for instance) as ever devolving tin foil hat wearing absolute CRAZIES???
I'm biginning to think that the Democrats have an ultra secret subversive wing that PRETENDS to be Republicans to undermine their RIDICULOUSLY HARMFUL, self serving agenda. . .
Wait a minute, wer're not supposed to smart enough to do that.

The level of disrespect that has been shown to this president from day one is simply outrageous. But hey, when citizens see our own Senators and Congress people doing it, they figure that its open season. Outrageous, simply outrageous!

It was probably a copy of the Constitution. NoMoBama doesn't seem to know what it is nevertheless actually read it. He certainly hasn't bothered to uphold it.

Did the Secret Service catch the person who threw the book? How about using some journalism skills, CNN.

One big difference between Bush and Obama. In Bush's case it was Democrat liberals and left wing nuts that would disrupt his attempts to comunicate, Obama just brings out the plain nuts.

The big change in the electorate is that, every day, a few more people realize their favorite media outlets are the biggest liars of all.
