(CNN) - Actor George Clooney paid a visit to the White House on Tuesday to meet with President Barack Obama and discuss his recent trip to southern Sudan.
Joining Clooney in the Oval Office meeting was Enough Project Co-Founder John Prendergast, who joined him outside of the West Wing after the meeting to talk to press.
Clooney said, "I think we're very impressed with how involved, at the highest level, this administration is and now our job is to try and continue to keep it in the press and keep it, to keep the light turned on for the next 90 days while we try and broker a peace deal, which is what they're working on right now."
The actor was heading to Capitol Hill to meet with Republican Indiana Sen. Dick Lugar, the ranking Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Why not meet with Clooney? His opinion will carry as much weight/intelligence with the President as many of the recently-departed cabinet/advisor/staff members.

Thanks George Clooney for drawing attention to Sudan. Only great people with great minds go out of their way to show humane containment under difficult circumstances. You remind me of the great minds that helped tackle Haitian problems recently like Anderson Cooper and volunteer crews from all over the world. I am glad you were welcomed at the White House. You spoke with a very humane,transparent and forthright World leader-Barack Obama. Your wishes for Sudan will be realized.

While I applaud Mr. Clooney's involvment in good causes, I always struggle to understand why people believe that Hollywood-types are worth listening to on any topic off the big screen. While Mr. Clooney and his ilk are superb actors, I don't see the connection between acting and the level of intelligence needed to accomplish tasks like brokering a peace deal in Sudan. Mr. Obama would be wise to spend more time with real-life experts than those who play them in movies.
This is how the country is being run – in between golf games, parties, vacations, meeting with the Hollywood idiots....unbelievable.
