Obama a hypocrite, Rove says

(CNN) – The ongoing battle between the White House and Karl Rove continued Tuesday morning, with the former Bush aide accusing President Obama of outright hypocrisy when it comes to campaign finance transparency.

"For the president to say a legal and lawful action by private groups, which has been upheld by the Supreme Court of the United States, when he himself is relying on political groups….the president is being hypocritical about this," Rove said on ABC's Good Morning America in response to recent attacks from Obama and Vice President Joe Biden over the fact that a group Rove has raised money for – Crossroads GPS – does not disclose its donors.

Crossroads GPS has spent millions on political advertising this election season but does not have to reveal the names of their donors to the Federal Elections Commission because it is structured as a tax-exempt "social welfare" 501(c)(4) organization. The group has faced allegations it is bending campaign finance laws because of its involvement in political activity despite claiming to be a so-called "social welfare" group.

"[Obama] had no problem at all with this when groups were spending money on his behalf in 2008 and not disclosing donors," Rove also said. "He had no problem not disclosing his own donors - tens of millions of dollars to his campaign whose donor names were not revealed. And now he turns around and takes up because Republicans are doing the same thing Democrats have been doing for years."

The most recent charge against Rove came from Biden Monday night, who during a Pennsylvania rally said, "I challenge Karl Rove to tell me that this money isn't coming from billionaires and millionaires, insurance companies, oil companies, major executives, who have about as much in common and concern with the people or northeast Pennsylvania as I don't know what."

Thanks to the donor anonymity that Crossroads GPS was allowed to provide, the group has reportedly been able to raise millions of dollars at a faster clip than traditional political organizations that are required to disclose donor names. Crossroads GPS and its parent organization American Crossroads – have set a goal of raising $50 million ahead of the midterm elections.

Rove, whose name alone engenders anger among the Democratic base, has increasingly become a punching bag for the White House as the midterm elections draw near.

Campaigning for Illinois Senate Candidate Alexi Giannoulias last week, Obama declared, "Right here in Illinois, in this Senate race, two groups funded and advised by Karl Rove have outspent the Democratic Party two-to-one in an attempt to beat Alexi – two-to-one. Funded and advised by Karl Rove."

"So the question for the people of Illinois is, are you going to let special interests from Wall Street and Washington and maybe places beyond our shores come to this state and tell us who our senator should be?" he continued. "Chicago, prove them wrong."

Karl Rove is and enemy of the state and has no credibility. Let's look at some of his accomplishments:

    -Out a C.I.A. operative
    -Fire Justice Dept. attorneys
-Make a case for an unjustified war

He should be happy that he hasn't been marched to the White House and shot in the Rose Garden for TREASON.

The venom that gave us the Bush years should just sit down and shut up. Because of him the country was too busy defining marriage to be between a man and woman instead of paying attention to the economy. Becuase of him we lost thousands of American lives to a war for oil. Rove-just sit down, shut up, and count your money and leave this country to the people who actually care about it.

How about the hypocrisy of invading Iraq under the pretense of non-existent WMD which caused the death of about 4500 troops and injuries to another 32,000 or so? Rove, Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld should be in Leavenworth charged with war crimes.

Umm, is Rove banking on the notion that most American's would forget that they were crying over the millions Obama raised, because a heap was from individuals? Now he wants us to form a faux memory of undisclosed financing on Obama's behalf? Only Rove's 'idiot base' would wallow in this bovine finklematter. Good try Evil Piglet.

Rove has a lot of nerve calling anyone a hypocrite. He has masterminded some of the most sleazy underhanded dishonest political maneuvers in US history.

It's because they can't run against George Bush. They're going to run against Karl Rove. It's a joke. The Democrats are financed by unions and George Koros (a foreigner, I believe). People in glass houses should be careful.

Obama and Biden appear to be afraid of Rove. Let's wait and see who finances the Chicago Mayoral race.

We've all seen the political ads coming from the right. Pretty nasty stuff, for sure. Factless lies and innuendo being financed by none other than Rove and his manipulative special interest cronies. Why am I not surprised that he is finally being called to task for what has been going on for two years now? Sticking his nose in local and national politics is all Rove has left to do in life. He certainly isn't running for any political office himself, yet, there he is. Everywhere you look, Rove can be seen spouting his nonsence, day after day. Lobbying. Nothing more ... nothing less.

Carl Rove has zero credability on any issue relating to ethics, honest, or for that matter, class. He is the guy who engineered the whisper campaign in Texas that Richards was a lesbian, and in South Carolina that McCain fathered a black daughter out of wedlock. And it was his office that was responsible for the outing of CIA operative Valorie Plame. Rove is a total piece of ...................

Oh, and his shadow organizations are pouring 10s of millions of money from undisclosed sources into our elections – and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is spending 10's of millions to influence campaigns from its general fund, which accepts foreign contributions. It a fact. And you can't separate that money. If you think you can, pour a quart of apple juice and a quart of orgage juice into a large container and the go in with a ladle and scoop out a cup of pure organge juice. Try it!

  12. Something to hide?

If the GOP and those tax exempt groups have nothing to hide, why don't they just open up their books?

Ditto for the Dems and their support groups.

Karl Rove has been cheating and lying all his political life. From his college days when he duplicated some Democratic letterhead and put out a false letter to scam the public, to retaining an address in Texas so he could vote there when he hasn't lived there for years, this guy is bad news.

How DOES Karl make a living now? Who's paying Karl? Where did Karl get all of HIS money? Why is Karl even involved in politics anymore unless his Republican big dollar big business cronies are supporting him.

CNN. You guys need to stop letting Republicans bully you around. I understand that you do not want to be viewed as biased but what's happening is Republicans are using your fear of them calling you biased to keep you from stating how things really are. This in turn has made you biased.

And if anyone out there is an expert on hypocrisy and dishonesty, it is the head "Mayberry Machiavelli" himself, Karl Rove. Please Turd Blossom, spare us the faux outrage. We already know that you & your GOP brethren are masters of it. You love to dish it out but you sure can't take it.

What's next, Glenn Back accusing Obama of being too emotional & crying too much?

Funny, I guess Biden thinks the millionaires and billionaires who donate to Democrats' campaigns, like Bill Gates and Hollywood actors and directors, are downright average Joe's.

Democrats are flailing around looking for something that may help them win one or two seats they otherwise would not win – even if it means they are being hypocritical or outright lying.
