Obama a hypocrite, Rove says

(CNN) – The ongoing battle between the White House and Karl Rove continued Tuesday morning, with the former Bush aide accusing President Obama of outright hypocrisy when it comes to campaign finance transparency.

"For the president to say a legal and lawful action by private groups, which has been upheld by the Supreme Court of the United States, when he himself is relying on political groups….the president is being hypocritical about this," Rove said on ABC's Good Morning America in response to recent attacks from Obama and Vice President Joe Biden over the fact that a group Rove has raised money for – Crossroads GPS – does not disclose its donors.

Crossroads GPS has spent millions on political advertising this election season but does not have to reveal the names of their donors to the Federal Elections Commission because it is structured as a tax-exempt "social welfare" 501(c)(4) organization. The group has faced allegations it is bending campaign finance laws because of its involvement in political activity despite claiming to be a so-called "social welfare" group.

"[Obama] had no problem at all with this when groups were spending money on his behalf in 2008 and not disclosing donors," Rove also said. "He had no problem not disclosing his own donors - tens of millions of dollars to his campaign whose donor names were not revealed. And now he turns around and takes up because Republicans are doing the same thing Democrats have been doing for years."

The most recent charge against Rove came from Biden Monday night, who during a Pennsylvania rally said, "I challenge Karl Rove to tell me that this money isn't coming from billionaires and millionaires, insurance companies, oil companies, major executives, who have about as much in common and concern with the people or northeast Pennsylvania as I don't know what."

Thanks to the donor anonymity that Crossroads GPS was allowed to provide, the group has reportedly been able to raise millions of dollars at a faster clip than traditional political organizations that are required to disclose donor names. Crossroads GPS and its parent organization American Crossroads – have set a goal of raising $50 million ahead of the midterm elections.

Rove, whose name alone engenders anger among the Democratic base, has increasingly become a punching bag for the White House as the midterm elections draw near.

Campaigning for Illinois Senate Candidate Alexi Giannoulias last week, Obama declared, "Right here in Illinois, in this Senate race, two groups funded and advised by Karl Rove have outspent the Democratic Party two-to-one in an attempt to beat Alexi – two-to-one. Funded and advised by Karl Rove."

"So the question for the people of Illinois is, are you going to let special interests from Wall Street and Washington and maybe places beyond our shores come to this state and tell us who our senator should be?" he continued. "Chicago, prove them wrong."

Hey Karl. If Crossroads is really on the up and up why not open up your books. Who does your organization represent? What part of America do you give voice to? Really, the big question is......What do you have to hide?

Legal and lawful DO NOT make it right for our country. I don't want businesses in India and other foreign countries influencing the outcome of our national interests for their national business interests. These are the countries that benefitted from Mr. Rove and friends outsourcing jobs during the Bush administration to the detriment of our economy.

It might be legal because of the supreme court's whacked-out decision, but non-disclosed campaign donations by corporations is about as un-american as it comes. Individuals must report their donations, and corporations should too-even more so, since they have much more money to spend. I can't imagine a single American out there who would support this if the question was posed to them correctly, and not see the blatant potential for misuse, fraud, and foreign contributions. The Republicans may like it this election cycle because it benefits them, but as soon as the tide turns they will want to end this shady practice because it should be illegal.

It is not the place of Rove or any of those (the BushGOP) who orchestrated genocide, mass murder and torture against civilians to criticize the current leadership. The criminal republicans should wait for the final judgment of their endless crimes…silently. Rove is the purest definition of Coward.

Hello Kettle? Pot is on line one.

Rove should be an expert in hypocrisy. He orchestrated an entire decade of it.

Karl Rove embodies everything that is wrong with our political system. He is a hired gun whose sole job is to destroy the personality with no regard(s) for the isuue(s). He was the mastermind of the electing the Bush Administrations, who in my opinion, won neither election but rather stole them with Rove as the architect of deceit.

Remember Rove, as young man, got involved in politics and was mentored by Donald Segretti one of the Watergate maggots whoise sole job it was was to destroy the opponent with little or no regard for issues. He coined the phrase "ratt******, whereby you cancelled your opponents' campaign events, set-up phony events and left the bills for the other side and crafted "interesting little documents" about the opponenet – insert here the Canuck Letter which caused front-runner Edmund Muskie to drop out of a presidential race he was going to win and then completely out of politics.

Rove, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and even "W" should be tried for the nonsense they launched on the American people. For Rove to criticize anybody is rich!

It's too bad Rove never went "hunting" with Cheney............! ! !

Karl Rove who is a War Criminal, for TORTURING POW's not only in Guantanamo but also in SECRET Foreign prisons, is calling President Obama a hypocrite?! No, Karl, YOU ARE THE HYPOCRITE!

Its too bad that the Obama administration did not choose to investigate and prosecute Rove, Wolfowitz, DICK, Bush & Co.! There is plenty of evidence that these criminals threw the U.S. Constitution under "the bus" and spit on it, so they could TORTURE!

No, Karl..........YOU ARE THE HYPOCRITE! I hope that the investigation into his "group" finds exactly what I suspect. An innocent man would say, "come and investigate, I have nothing to hide" but no..... Karl is complaining like a bitter child who got caught with his hand in the cookie jar! I say THROW THE BOOK AT HIM!

The Republicans never would have been in power in 2000 had it not been for the right wing Supreme Court handing the election to the GOP. They would not have this tsunami of corrupt campaign money had the Supreme Court not handed them this huge "gift". In other words, the GOP and right wing is seeking "a permanent lock on power" with the help of the right wing Supreme Court. The U.S. Supreme Court is supposed to be "non-partisan". In reality, right wing members of the Supreme Court are there solely to cement Republican power – the people be damned! Rove is a liar! Rove is guilty of criminal hypocrisy!

One other point for all the Right-Wing swifties to absorb regards Rove:

They are all professional liars – including who ever wrote the headline "Obama a hypocrite, Rove says." Saying someone is being hypocritical is not nearly the same as calling someone a hypocrite. No one tells us the truth anymore – perhaps no one ever did.

This man is such a sewer rat it's amazing. The gaul of him talking about the president's hypocrisy. Just who does he think he is? He was an integral part of the administration that got us into this mess, and now he's spending millions of dollars from unknown sources trying, possibly foreign, to get us to vote his minions back into power. And some Americans, unfortunately, are falling for his crapola. I encourage rational thinking people to get out and vote to move forward and not back to the edge of the cliff he helped to bring the country to.

It is outright hypocrisy! While it was no problem for then Senator Obama when he was enjoying unfair superiority in campaign finances, now it is a problem for him when the reverse is happening. This is clearly dirty politics in action where there is no such thing as honesty, integrity and professionalism.

  23. hello democrats!!!

II Find Obama pulling at straws. Never once did he disclose the so called people and businesses that were giving him funds. He allowed BP to tell him how to with a situation that should have been taken over and BP never allowed to be running the situation. But i guess BP probably was sitting in his back pocket. Just like when the lady scientist was telling people about the oil that is completely covering the ocean floor Obama's people started threating her and her people to stop telling the american people. Wonder why he is getting mad doesnt make him look good to BP for the money he has gotten from them...

I believe Rove has a great point. During Obama's campaign he benefitted from millions fo dollars being spent through 501(c)(4) organizations and he refused to disclose who donated, Now that the shoe is on the other foot and Republicans are doing what Obama already did, suddenly it is now bad?

For the past 20 years, Karl Rove has been involved in one poltical scam after another. Going back to bugging his own office, the attack on McCain's adopted daughter, the constant flow of lies and crimes from the Bush administration and now this. This man has no credability and you have to raise serious doubts about the credability of anyone that still supports this man after he has been exposed time and time again as a liar and a fraud.
