Tea Party Express says they'll target Barney Frank

(CNN) – Tea Party Express says they'll add Rep. Barney Frank to their list of lawmakers they're targeting in November's midterm elections.

The national Tea Party organization Tuesday announced that it will go up with ads against the 15-term Democratic congressman from Massachusetts and will hold a rally in the state near the end of their upcoming cross-country bus tour.

The Sacramento based group kicks off their fourth tour, called "Tea Party Express IV: Liberty At the Ballot Box," next Monday. The trip starts in Nevada, where the group will once again target Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. Tea Party Express is a major backer of Reid's Republican challenger, former Nevada lawmaker Sharron Angle.

Tuesday the organization, in an email to supporters, said "Big news everyone – the Tea Party Express has added Barney Frank as one of our top targets for defeat in the November 2nd Midterm Elections."

The email asked for donations to help defeat Frank.

Tea Party Express officials tell CNN that they'll run ads in Frank's district and will also target the congressman when they hold a rally in Worcester, Massachusetts on November 1, the last day of their cross-country bus trip.

Worcester, in central Massachusetts, is not in the congressman's district. The fourth congressional district, which Frank has represented for 30 years, is located in southeast Massachusetts. Frank has never scored below 60 percent of the vote in any of his re-election victories in the heavily Democratic district. But the chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, who has had a large role in financial services reform, as well as dealing with the subprime mortgage and home foreclosure issues, has become a target for conservatives.

CNN has reached out to the congressman for a reaction to the move by the Tea Party Express and is awaiting a comment.

Frank faces off in November against GOP nominee Sean Bielat, a Marine reservist. Frank's re-election campaign says they are up with television commercials in Boston and Providence, Rhode Island, the two television markets that cover the district.

The Cook Political Report, a top non-partisan political handicapper, rates the race as likely Democratic, while the Rothenberg Political Report, another leading non-partisan political handicapper, describes the contest as safe for the Democrat.

Tea Party Express spent around $250,000 on ads to help Republican Senate candidate Scott Brown in Massachusetts, who upset Democrat Martha Coakley in a January special election to fill the late Sen. Ted Kennedy's seat.

"Massachusetts voters proved that they're sick of liberal career politicians who are out of touch with the nation, and it's time to send Barney into retirement" says the Tea Party Express, in a statement to CNN.

Why now? Why complain now Tea Party members? You don't care about America, Americans, or our country. All you care about is money, you are greed incarnate. THAT is what has gone wrong with America, greed. You are not like any Christians I know...

Why target Barney? He tried to help Americans achieve the dream of owning a home. For God’s sake, what could be more American than that! How was he to know that the Banks & Wall Street would screw the ordinary American by sell them bad loans or loan they couldn’t afford? It just goes to show you, no good deed goes unpunished.

Why didn't the Tea Party target the GOP while they wasted taxpayer’s money for 8 years and supported shipping our jobs overseas? Maybe someone should investigate the tea Party for their failure to combat waste and excess when the GOP was in power.

When right wingnuts claim that Barney single handedly destroyed the economy over the objection of a republican president and his republican majority in the house and senate, you have to believe they are taking something illegal.

If there is any justice whatsoever in this world, Barney Frank will be be thrown out on his ample caboose. I have no idea how this clown continually gets re-elected but now is your opportunity, Massachusetts voters, to redeem yourselves.

They are going for the easy target, huh? Barney Frank is arguably the politician most responsible for our country's current economic problems. He is absolutely driving our economy into the dirt and has been doing that for years with his brand of liberal just give it all away economics.

He represents much of what "tea partiers" don't like... Someone adovcating what government can do to protect people as opposed to letting people have to struggle. I am sure that there some social conservatives in this group that dislikes homosexuals in any way shape and form.

Hey, if they want to throw money away on a hopeless campaign more power to them. Money used there could have been used on a more closely contested race. I'll laugh if a tea bagger looses a close race in another district because of this.

I love how people who are not in his district think they know what's best for that district.
We are a diverse nation and if you don't live in Mass or specifically in his district, why do you care, you can't vote for or against him.
I'm just confused on this since we see it so much lately, folks minding others business.
Also any time you use terms such as socialist, Marxist, fascist or any other highly idealized political parties it pretty much shows you don't know what your talking about.
None of these groups have any real power in this country and it makes you easily dismissed as a sheep.
What we actually have this country is an oligarchy, with both sides playing the lower classes against themselves.

Bravo, Tea Party. Barney should be thrown out of office in disgrace for being a corrupt apologist for Fannie and Freddie in exchange for their fountain of campaign cash to Democratic coffers. He personally did more to ruin the economy than did any other individual – or party.

Tea party candidates have it made. If a few somehow get elected, they can just vote against everything and make no difference because there won't be many of them. Then home home and say see we kept our values, but couldn't overcome the status quo.

This guy with some help from Maxine Waters and Franklin Raines nearly destroyed the economy with their free handout loan programs at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. These mortgage giants are still losing billions of dollars annually and we still have not seen any action on the Federal side to correct the problem, it has been painfully quiet regarding these institutions. We have seen how this Administration functions in a crisis, curtailing the obvious truth and covering up with lies and deception. Vote for him libtards, it will not matter read these posts by the left bashing the Tea Party movement, hillarious, racism, fear mongering, all the things they are accusing the Tea Party of, funny I haven't witnessed anything from the Tea Party that even comes close to what I've seen on here. Look out Lib's, your sky is falling!

Wouldn't it be great to see Barney Frank lose. He is a big part of the recession with Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. He and Chris Dodd and at least Dodd had the decency to not run again. Barney Frank could lose I never thought it could happen. If he does lose it is possible the Democrats could lose the massive amount some are predicting.

This man had as much to do with the housing collapse as any person in Washington! He pushed banks into making loans in red line areas and these loans defaulted in huge numbers causing banks and shareholders to suffer great losses! He refused to see the troubles at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in 2003 meetings with the federal regulator when he was warned because he wanted to continue pushing housing for folks that could not afford it! This man is RESPONSIBLE for much of what we are experiencing today with our economy and people are willing to re-elect him. I hope the Tea Party is able to get this guy fired because he certainly would have been gone long ago if he worked for a business and not government....
