Reid 46, Angle 43 in new Nevada Senate poll

(CNN) - A new poll indicates that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has a three point advantage over Sharron Angle, his Republican challenger, in the Senate battle in Nevada.

According to a Suffolk University survey released Wednesday, 46 percent of likely voters in Nevada support Reid, the top Democrat in the Senate, with 43 percent backing Angle, the GOP nominee and a former state lawmaker who enjoys strong support by many Tea Party activists.
The other six candidates on the ballot are in the low single digits, with four percent saying they will vote for "none of these candidates," which is allowed in Nevada, and three percent undecided.

While Reid's three point margin is within the poll's sampling error, the Suffolk survey is one of only two recent polls to have Reid ahead. All other recent survey's conducted in October give Angle a single digit advantage over Reid.

The Suffolk University poll indicates that Angle holds a 22 point advantage over Reid among independent and non-partisan voters.

According to the poll, Nevadans are split on the job Reid's doing, with 49 percent saying they approve of how Reid is handling his duties as a senator, and 47 percent saying they disagree. But only 43 percent have a favorable opinion of the four-term senator, with 54 percent saying they see him in a negative light.

Forty-one percent of people questioned say they have a favorable opinion of Angle, with 52 percent saying they hold an unfavorable opinion of her.

Reid and Angle face off Thursday night in their first debate.

The Suffolk University poll was conducted October 8-11, with 500 likely voters in Nevada questioned by telephone. The survey's sampling error is plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.

I think I speak for the other forty-nine states when I say that if Nevadans elect Angle, even against a clown like Reid, then we will laugh them out of the union.

Let's send Harry back and put Angle on a plane to Michigan, which is under Constitution Law of the United States of America, and then when she leaves there send her to find Franford, Tx., that'll keep her busy and lost for years to come.

  5. How ignorant is CNN of poll numbers?

    +/- 4.4% error

That means 46 to 43 is basically even if you're to incorporate error. How is this an advantage? How hard is it to look at the numbers without making some stupid conclusion that is completely not what the numbers say? C'mon!!!!

I sure hope for the people in Nevada that they have come to their senses and do not vote this tea party person in this country will be on its way to destruction. I suppose she hopes the US Chamber of Congress to give her come of Thar foreign money. That is simply a shame that elections can be bought. The higher power needs to step in and help.

Really, 43% of Nevada voters really think this nutjob Angle is a good candidate to vote for? With all that casino money you'd think they could afford to fund an educational system there.

41% of Nevadans have a favorable opinion of someone who wants to do away with Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, unemployment insurance and the Department of Education? I didn't realize so many people there have had their brains fried from the desert heat.

It is going to be the independants who figure in the wins/losses for these candidates. Many dems have changed there party affliation to independent. So the fact that Angle has a 22% edge on Reid with independants should worry ole Harry. This bump is from Bill Clinton campaigning and will go back down in a day or two.

The voters are starting to pay attention. The republicans nominated some really crazy nutty types and the people are not going to vote for a crazy nutty republican over a competent accomplished Democrat.

Yes Nevada! Go Reid. Prove to them that they can not buy elections. The unemployment is because of the economy plain and simple. We have all had to cut back and can't travel or spend it's not because of Reid. Sharon Angle said she is not there to create jobs, how will that help you? Stick with the Democrats they will help you more then the Repubs with un – employment and healthcare which you need to get through these tough times.

But why would ANYONE vote for the crazy Angle woman? Even if Harry Reid was Darth Vader, at least he's not a complete idiot moron looney tune. What is WRONG with people? Is it the 14 million she's raised in this campaign that makes her viable at all? If this woman gets any votes much les 43%, Democracy is in trouble. If I was a Republican I'd vote "none of the above" in Nevada because Angle isn't even a real Republican, she's just a kook.

Well Yes!!! You have to wonder what in the heck Navadans are thinking when they choose Angle.

I mean it was like that stupid 29% who stuck with W through thick and thin. What? They don't have lives, children, homes?

Or they just live with their heads up their bums. Sad....Madness.....insane!!

I am a Democrat and this is positive news that Reid is leading, because Angle is a kook. She and these other tea party candidates are so far to the right that it's scary for them to get power. If the Dems keep control of the Senate, Reid needs to turn over his leadership role to Chuck Shumer of NY. Reid is too weak for what needs to be done, but he is certainly far more qualified than Angle.

Dems are only going to lose North Dakota...Because of the nutty nature of the nominees in AR, DE, KY, AK, Democrats will pick up KY, AL and maybe even NH..Republicans need to take a long look at the quality of their voters.

As soon as the first debate is over we will have a winner.
Once the folks in Nevada have a chance to see and hear Angle respond to questions she will be toast.

One question: How stupid do you have to be in this country to give Angle a favorable rating? It's mindboggling. I wonder sometimes about this country. You run a stuffed toy for a political office and you'd probably get 40 percent to think favorably of them. Geez. Here is a woman who wants to end social security, unemployment insurance, medicare, medicaid etc etc and over 40 percent think favorably of her??? Well, maybe 40 percent of Nevada's population are multimillionaires. What do I know.

If I lived in Nevada I would NOT vote for Reid, he can do more damage as majority leader than Angle can as one Senator. Reid has been in the Senate way too long and needs to stay in Nevada. Three points isn't that much with a few more weeks to go.
