Palin no fan of Maureen ‘O’Dowd’

(CNN) –- Sarah Palin is shrugging off a recent column from New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd - or rather Maureen “O’Dowd” - in which Dowd called Palin the “queen bee” of mean girls.

"That's so funny, because I don't think I've ever met that gal, Maureen Dowd - O'Dowd - whatever the heck her name is,” said a laughing Palin Monday in an interview with Fox News.

I don't think I've ever met her, and I don't think - she probably hasn't met [Arizona Gov.] Jan Brewer or some of these other wonderful, pleasant, gracious, nice, hard-working mama grizzlies who are wanting to turn this country around.

“So Maureen can say whatever she says. I encourage the other mama grizzlies and liberty-loving Americans to just keep smiling."

In her column Sunday, Dowd identified Brewer, Palin, Delaware Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell, California gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman, California Senate candidate Carly Fiorina, Connecticut Senate candidate Linda McMahon, Nevada Senate candidate Sharron Angle, and Rep. Michele Bachmann as "grown-up versions of those teenage tormentors who would steal your boyfriend, spray-paint your locker and, just for good measure, spread rumors that you were pregnant."

I think Ms. Dowd's article is downright irresponsible. I'm not a Palin fan by any means, but how can she say that about all of those female candidates who just so happen to share similar political views. I think Ms. Dowd has undermined her own intelligence with these comments.

Some interesting things about mama grizzlies, according to the wrold of science:
    1. "Sows [females] may mate with one or several bears over the course of about a week. With the end of mating, the sow will have nothing more to do with the male."
    2. "There's no such thing as picky grizzly bears - they'll eat almost anything they can find."
    3. "The female spends the summer eating excessive amounts of food and storing up as much fat as possible."
    4. Mama Grizzlies are child abandoners: "Eventually, the mother will leave her cubs and they'll begin their life alone."

More wonderful yellow journalism by the NY Times. O'Dowd sounds like the high school girl who wouldnt giive you the time of day and made her assumptions about you by the way you look. Typical of a democrat and the party of hate.

'Maureen Dowd – O'Dowd – whatever the heck her name is,” said a laughing Palin '
Thus kind of proving Dowd's point.

  5. Sarah Palin does not speak for me in Ohio

This whole group of Mama Grizzlies are spewing hate and intolerance in this election. These attitudes will not bring this country together at a time when we must be looking a climate change, terrorism and world economic problems. Their rhetoric only serves to divide us.

Well said Maureen Dowd. You nailed it. These nuts do not speak for the majority of we American women. I for one think the majority of us are much smarter than these women. We women are on the average much, much, smarter than these "momma grizzlies". God, what a way to describe yourself.

This is interesting, Palin says "I don't think I've ever met her, and I don't think – she probably hasn't met me" and for this reason she things that MS Dowd should not say anything bad about her. I do not think Palin has meet the President, however she things she can lie and call him by his middle name. Get some class MS Palin then you can trash others.

I think a sit down intellegent discussion between them should be in order. Unfortunately it would probably be one sided.

What woman in her right mind wants to be referred to as a "mama grizzly?" I gather that Sarah Palin thinks this is a compliment. She should just stay in Alaska, with her backwoods' mentality, and leave the rest of us alone! We've had more than enough of her idiocy!!!

Targeting only FEMALE GOP politicians is totally partisan.
Question: When are feminists anti female? When the woman is a member of the GOP.

Now there is a contest – the illiterate takes on a New York Times writer – Once again ms palin you and your mama grizzlies are
are out classed and out smarted . there is not one of you grizzlies who could hold your own with Ms. Dowd in an intelligent conversation. you are a bunch of cutey gals with mean attitudes and lacking anything that resembles intelligence. You and yours are either saying something stupid or a sound bite – go away and take your grizzlies with you.

Palin may not know the columnist's name (that would be too factual for her), but she can probably see her from the porch in Wasilly-place.

Wow, Dowd is sure an angry liberal.
Such irony Dowd would claim that Palin is the one that spreads catty gossip about other girls.

Sounds like Maureen Dowd or O'Dowd, whatever, just doesn't like their politics but instead of being honest and forthright, she decided to resort to calling them names! Typical!

Well done Maureen. You have Palin pegged just right. Palin can't even remember people's name. If someone doesn't agree with her she says she is the only one who is right. Everyone else is always wrong.

Evidently to Palin, we're supposed to have dinner with these women and "get to know them" before we can (in Dowd's case with humor, although Palin doesn't seem to understand the concept) discuss their political careers. Also cute how she first can't say the reporter's name correctly and then casts her as being a wimp. Kinda verified everything Dowd was saying, didn't she?
