Sanford's relationship with Argentine mistress still happening

(CNN) – Remember the Argentinean woman with whom Mark Sanford had an affair and in the process ended his marriage and promising political career?

Well, the two have weathered the storm.

In an interview with Good Morning America Wednesday, Jenny Sanford – the ex wife of the South Carolina governor – said the relationship between her former husband and Maria Belen Chapur continues.

Still, Mrs. Sanford said her four children have yet to meet the woman who rocked the South Carolina political climate and dominated national headlines last year.

"Sometimes I think it would be nice if he stayed with her because it would make it seem like maybe there was a reason to break the whole family up and go through all this," Mrs. Sanford said. "But it really doesn't bother me one way or the other."

After disappearing on a secret trip to Argentina that was unknown to his staff or his wife, the Republican governor admitted in June, 2009 that he had been carrying on an extramarital affair with a woman in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was later pressured to resign his post as governor from Democrats and Republicans alike, but managed to remain in his job. His term ends in January.

Mrs. Sanford was granted a divorce from her husband last February – the same month her book about the ordeal, "Staying True," was released.

I can't believe the people of South Carolina let this scum stay in office, he lied to his wife, his kids and the people of South Carolina.

No excuse, he's scum and should have been impeached on the grounds of mafesance of not even being in the country, let alone the satae he was elected to govern.

His type is why I am no longer a Republlican.

Jenny Sanford is one strong lady and her husband was an idiot for cheating on her. Women like her are rare.

... and South Carolina Republicans exhibited "shock and indignation" for the media; made a freeble, public attempt to impeach Sanford; and then left this adulterer still running the state, even though he abandoned it on several occasions to be with his Argentinian harlot.

At least here in Illinois, when we actually wanted to get rid of a governor (even if he was a Democrat), it was the Dems who lead the charge and the guy was out of office in six weeks.

How many morals can the Republicans ignore to stay in office?

If he was going to cheat, couldn't he have found an American to do it with? That would have save South Carolina some money. Besides, there are plenty of loose women here in the US.

Looks like to good "family values" people of South Carolina will elect a female version of Sanford if Nikki "drill baby drill" Haley is elected.

OK, CNN, you've had your little fun with the Palin Express, and she with you. As exciting as she is to the TeaPers, for the rest of us who really CARE about the issues facing this great country of ours, she and her *MamaGrizzly's* aren't all that important. In fact, I imagine many of us will be voting her (and hers) out soon now. To that point, Sanford and his mistress are right up there with Palin in the I don't give a ... darn ... category.

Oh mercy...won't this soap opera EVER end? To think Sanford was once considered the future leader and Presidential contender for the GOP? Shame on th GOP with all these kooks preaching fundamentalism and family values while they lie about hiking, paying for hookers, caught in airport bathrooms doing perverted acts, what else?

If it was important enough to break up his marriage why do you think it still would not be going on.

Good for Mark Sanford, he finally found the lid to his pot. You lib's are so funny on here, at least she was of age, not an intern, and Sanford didn't have to pay her off with some political job to get rid of her. I now that blows for ya, I wonder if South Carolina is one of the States that is in the red with their State finance, I will bet they aren't.

well according to certain polls he is still popular in South Carolina, but seeing what has been coming out of that state lately other than the Gamecocks beating the Crimson Tide not much appears to be on the up and up from that state.

It's good to see he is still "Hiking The Argentinean Tail". OOOOooooopss, I ment "Trail". Maybe after January of 2011 he will reach the top of her mountain range. I hope he finds something special up there because if he slips and falls from the peak he will find some sharp edges on his way back down the trail.

The reason for this is that the SEIU plant that moderates the ticker needed to hear from some of the loyal libertards and decided to drag this out. They really can't handle the current bad news about the demise of the Democrat liberals so stuff like this gives them a chance to rant again. You can see it worked.
