DNC again hammers campaign spending in new ad

(CNN) – Democrats are doubling down on their efforts to portray the GOP as beneficiaries of shadowy campaign finance schemes, launching a national television ad Wednesday accusing Republicans of maliciously shielding their largest corporate donors in a cloak of anonymity.

"You've seen the ads. Millions being spent by right wing groups to buy an election," the new ad from the Democratic National Committee says. "All from secret donors. What's not a secret is why. Republicans and their corporate buddies want to be back in charge."

It's a message President Obama and Vice President Biden have themselves hammered on the campaign trail and one that has stemmed primarily from the workings of outside groups such as the Karl Rove-backed organization American Crossroads and its affiliate, Crossroads GPS.

Because it is established as a non-profit "social welfare" organization under the United States tax code, Crossroads GPS is not required to disclose its donors - a provision that has led the group to raise and spend millions at a record clip.

Democrats and watchdog groups have accused Crossroads of bending campaign finance laws by structuring itself as a "social welfare" non-profit while running ads that clearly benefit the Republican Party. Crossroads has responded that their ads are permissible because they address issues, not candidates explicitly.

"Wall Street writing its own rules again," the DNC's new ad also states. "Big oil and insurance companies calling the shots. More jobs shipped overseas. Millions in attack ads to put the corporate interests back in charge."

The new ad, which will run on national cable at least through the end of this week, is the second for Democrats to take aim at campaign spending practices, an issue that often does not resonate with voters, most of whom are much less interested in campaign machinations then traditional kitchen table issues.

In an ad released two weeks ago, the DNC alleged groups like American Crossroads are "stealing our Democracy." Rove later called the attacks "baseless."

OMG, the democrats have targeted the US Chamber of Commerce as the new demon.

Tell me, Obama received $700 million in his presidential campaign, much of that from foreign sources. Have those been identified?

Democrats cannot defend their policy, so they have resorted to attacks on process.

Dems can say this since George Soros is a naturalized citizen (he just keeps most of his money offshore).

It's nothing short of hysterical to listen to Obama and Biden attempt to lie their way through another campaign season. We all remember the "John McCain wants to tax your health care benefits for the first time in US history" ads, don't we? What did Obama turn around and do? Tax your health care benefits. For the first time in US history.

Where did Obama's shady millions come from? He never disclosed either.

The Republicans are devious as well, but don't pretend the Democrats are any better.

And just who were all of Obama's donors? And how many of them lived outside of the U.S.?

This is nothing but the pot calling the kettle black........................

    Wow,
No kidding. It is like the Pot calling the Kettle Black. The Democrats don't have any problem running up astronomacal sums in the public laggasse. 13 Trillion or more. Buying an Election? The democrats have been buying elections for the last 75 years. Give me a break!

...and this is the kind of non-issue campaigning Democratic doners are paying for?!?! Doesn't this paint a picture of Democrats as empty suit politicians??? That's who we need to root out. They do not help America.

Ironic how the party who raises the most money attacks the republicans. They also out spend republicans. The Supreme Court ruled that this spending is guaranteed under the constitution. Why is it that democrats do not care about the constitution?

Ah, the old class warfare standby. Nothing new about the DNC. Prediction-prior to November 3, they will start playing the race card heavy. They are already doing the very old "republicans will cut your social security" bit. Nothing new, just deperation and regular Democrat liberal lies they bring out for every election when they are behind. It is an old tactic used by the corrupt unions that own the DNC.

Funny how we got all this historically insane money for Obama's election and they said nothing. The DNC can't run on its own record because their leadership since taking over January 2007 has been pathetic. See you on 11/2.

Of course, they're not stealing democracy. Those aren't the voters' feet sticking out of their gunnysacks as they scramble down the ladder.

Republicans had their chance for eight years to fix:
    Health care,
    Immigration,
    Deficit,
    Shrinking middle class,
    Regulate Banks,
    Regulate Off shore drilling,
    Education
They chose instead to use our tax dollars to invade a country that had caused us no harm, and now want us to believe it will be different THIS TIME!

Palin mentioned that she can see Nov 2012 from her house. As interesting as that may be, I wonder if she has any idea whatsoever what the GOPers will need to accomplish, should this Cat 5 against the Dems occur THIS Nov. I have complied a GOP/TeaPer wishlist.

    Reduce the deficit
    Balance the budget
    Eliminate Obamacare
    Eliminate the Finanical Regulatory Bill
    Privotize SS
    Eliminate HHS, including Medicare
Eliminate Dept of Education (Public Schools)

President Obama has exactly 2 months before the public began railing against him. I wonder how long the TeaPers will give their candidates to *fix* everything to THEIR satisfaction. With Boehner in charge, well, we'll see.

If these groups are so squeaky clean and have nothing to hide, why wont they tell us where the money comes from - granted they don't have to, but again, if they have nothing to hide why WONT they? Makes me trust them as far as I can throw them, and I can't pick them up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is why we need full disclosure on our campaign financing. I want to find out if the company I work for or any of its executives are major contributors to any of these causes! If they want to use their own money, fine. I do not want the company I work for to use any of its funds for any candidate – even those I personally support.

It really is telling that the DNC feels threatened by outside influence. The White House looks into this matter in September 2010??? Really???? Why not worry about this problem back when Obama was running??? We the American electorate are not falling for this garbage. Investigate your own money dealings. SOROS???

And this is different from the way the DEMs raise money how? It's been proven over and over again that BOTH parties get their money the same way from the same corporations and the same wealthy people with their same agendas. Help the corporations and wealthy get richer while killing off the middle class. The Dems have even gone so far as to force you to buy things from a select few companies just so their freinds can make even more money and have even less competition. Can you say health care bill?

Supporters of the republican party need to ask how are these contributions going to affect the way they will govern. Let me provide you with a clue. More jobs taken overseas, lower wages being paid to US workers, reductions in benefit plans, and no tax liabiltiy. Do working class republicans really think this is a great thing?

Down with special intrest groups and big buisness calling the shots. Right wing conservative ideals is not what most Americans want. Time to keep them at bay once again. Go vote and make our "real" opinion heard.

Thats right, cause Im sure the Democrats are doing the same thing at all. The republicans are only on the skyline because Obama put it there, yet failing to acknowledge that his own party does the exact smae thing. The problem is that the dems have not have the same support to obviously its the evil repubs that are guilty when in fact, the repubs are just more successful at it than the dems.
