NAACP goes after Tea Party again

(CNN) - The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People released a new study Wednesday that claims to tie members of the Tea Party to white supremacist groups, anti-immigration organizations, anti-semitic groups and independent militias.

The study, conducted by the Institute for Research and Education on Human Rights analyzed the membership of six Tea Party organizations in the country.

According to the NAACP, five of the six Tea Party groups are headed by "birthers," people who believe President Obama is not a citizen of the United States.

The study looked at Tea Party literature as well as their websites and information about those associated with the Tea Party movement to analyze their ties. The report claims that Tea Party events are now forums for extremists "hoping to push these (white) protesters toward a more self-conscious and ideological white supremacy."

"These groups and individuals are out there, and we ignore them at our own peril," Ben Jealous, president and CEO of the NAACP said in a statement. "They are speaking at Tea Part events, recruiting at rallies… the danger is not that the majority of Tea Party members share their views, but that left unchecked, these extremists might indirectly influence the direction of the Tea Party and therefore the direction of our country."

Amy Kremer, Chairman of the Tea Party Express responded to the report.

"Here we are two weeks out from a historic midterm election and they're doing this to attack us and change the message," Kremer said. "This is ridiculous, that's not what this movement is about. We're focused on the issues and we're going to continue to work to get conservatives elected."

Rev. C.L. Bryant, founder of One Nation Back to God responded on behalf of FreedomWorks, a conservative non-profit grassroots organization that provides much of the logistics and organization behind Tea Party events.

"It is unfortunate that the Chairman of the NAACP, Ben Jealous is making these kinds of statements at this time," Bryant said. "(It is) designed to distract would-be voters from the true issues of this election season to something as divisive as race."

In July the NAACP passed a resolution that condemned what if felt was rampant racism in the Tea Party movement. At the time, Tea Party activists denounced the action as unfounded and unfair as well.

Hard to take an organization with the word 'colored' in it seriously. Yes, I know it is an orgainization that goes back almost 100 years, but time to loose that word, it screams racisim.

How does being "anti-immigration" equate with being a white-supremist, anti-semitic? It's not unreasonable to hold an opinion that continuing to allow people to immigrate to the country when we are in such terrible finanicial shape does not make a lot of sense...not to mention we have no way to keep track of immigrants once they arrive...

The NAACP has lost any credibility that it may have had. The NAACP is a group of people that will do and say anything to promote liberal Democrats. You have sold out your race for political gain. All Blacks are not Democrats, yet you act like you speak for all Blacks. How dare you.

This does not surprise me at all . There are a few more research and studies on the internet that indicate that the analysis is more or less on the right track.

You mean the NAAKKKP? You have got to be kidding me, they're still trying to paint a movement based on people being fed up with over taxation and over regulation as racists? All you private sector folks with Jobs better hurry off to work, the government bureaucrat is in need of your hard earned money to fund their pension plan and healthcare upon their 20 years of service retirement!

The NAACP has it wrong, AGAIN. They are attacking the tea party as racists simply because they disagree with Obama and the democrats running this country into off of a cliff. Its pathetic that this is best they can come up with. This was predicted during the 08 campaign. If Obama was elected, any disagreement with him would lead to an accusation of racism. The Tea Party has consistently denounced racists in their ranks. What the NAACP wants the Tea Party to do is admit that the movement as a whole is racist. I want to know where is the NAACP's denunciation of the black panthers and nation of islam for their racist views and statements from their leaders. i wont hold my breath.

Don't worry, the NAACP is probably one of the most hateful/dishonest organizations in America. Oh, and the claim that they represent Hispanics is a bogus as their president (NObama).

On one hand they blast the white community, on the other hand they want their money. What a farce of an organization!!!

We didn't get an empty package. Obama saved the US economy which the repubes had tanked, remember McCain leaving his campaign and rushing to DC to save it? Obama saved the world economy as well. My 401K has more than doubled after the repubes left office and this is the face of unrelenting attacks from pretend patriots. Where are your flag pins now. We are in a war, also caused by repbubes, yet you are not supporting a sitting president in the time of war. Tsk, tsk. My life is good, I am not giving it up for the teabag express

Are whites, asians, or latinos allowed to join the NAACP? The Tea Party invites everyone with an open mind to join. So, who's the racists?

Pay no attention to that giant sucking noise that is sending the rest of Americas jobs to China...sucking the dollars out of your wallet for rising medical costs...and raising state taxes because there is no more federal assistance for state programs like education and highway maintenance. Medicare, Social Security, or Welfare will help you offset these costs...oh wait...their cutting those too...and raising the age limits on any that may still qualify. When your children must work in a sweat shop for a cup of rice a day...don't complain to me if you voted for a corporate thug in the republican party. READ THEIR PLEDGE!

The NAACP is comprised of black people. Is that an issue? Tea Party conservatives are mostly white people. So what, is that an issue?

What we all really need to realize is if the Blacks and Hispanics vote with the same voice, we have enough votes as a separate party, “The American Party”, to equal all the numbers in the individual democratic party and or all the numbers of the individual republican party, and 3 times the number of the “tea bigots”.
In fact, blacks and Hispanics together, we have enough numbers to create the “American Party”, which represents the real America, “the actual melting pot”.
So, as appose to debating with these “tea bigots, who are against immigration now that they are all here”, we should join blacks and Hispanics, equaling 1/3 of the U.S. “legal” population, add all non-white bigots and other non- racist non-whites,, to our mix and vote all the existing bigots out of office, and replace them with our party, “The American Party” members, and then make laws that truly punish a bigot or a racist acts in our country.
We no longer have to abide and bow down to white America and their interests,,, the strength is in our numbers. We have enough numbers to vote in our interest,,, so stop asking for respect from whites, lets make our own respect by voting as one, “The American Party”, which is all blacks, all Hispanics, all non-bigot whites, and all others who are tired of dealing with whites who feel that they are the dominant race and others are suppose to “earn” their respect.
The numbers are in our favor now and it will never change in the favor of whites again.
“The American Party” is a party that is the new foundation of these United States of This America. Step aside Tea Party bigots, Step aside Democrats cronies, Step aside Republic rich racists,,,, the power is in the numbers and millions of votes is 10 times more powerful than millions of dollars, because the votes will put our interests in the office that generally have been paid for by your dollars.
I’d suggest that the angry Republicans and Democrats join “The American Party”, the party that refuses to allow bigots to sit at our table, or allow rich to buy our loyalty, or allow corporations to right out laws. The American Party have the numbers to vote you all out, make laws to jail the lies of the past to include Bush and his Admin for raping this country.
Again, combining all the votes of the blacks, and Hispanics alone is 1/3 of the U.S. Population,,,, at least. No need to find the “good white person” to act on our behalf anymore. The Real new party is and will be “The American Party”. So, if your black or Hispanic, don’t believe the lies that the media spew about how blacks and Hispanics don’t get along, its propaganda to make blacks and Hispanics to believe their lies. The truth and the strength is in our numbers.
