(CNN) – Connecticut's Democratic Senate nominee, Richard Blumenthal is widening his lead over Republican nominee Linda McMahon, according to a new poll.
The Suffolk University Poll released Thursday shows Blumenthal, the state attorney general leading McMahon, the former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment by 18 points, 57 percent to 39 percent. The University surveyed 500 likely voters and had a margin of error of 4.4 percent. Blumenthal has remained consistently ahead in recent polls.
He led by 11 percentage points in a recent Quinnipiac University Survey, and the most recent CNN/Time/Opinion Research Corporation poll showed McMahon trailing by 13 percentage points.
The winner in November will succeed five-term Democratic Sen. Chris Dodd, who announced earlier this year that he would not run for re-election.
