(CNN) - Republicans lashed out Friday after the Connecticut secretary of state said poll workers would have the right to ask voters wearing World Wrestling Entertainment merchandise to cover up because it could be considered campaigning.
Republican Senate candidate Linda McMahon left her job as chief executive of WWE to run for office. And a spokesman for Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz said McMahon is so closely associated with the organization that wrestling garb could easily be construed as political advertising.
Charleston, West Virginia (CNN) -– In an interview earlier this week, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, called for “a humble, grateful response” to the upcoming midterm elections.
McConnell admitted to the National Journal that the Republican brand isn’t exactly stellar and said his party must recognize that “we do not control the government and cannot control the government when the president holds the veto pen.”
But judging by his sharply partisan performance at a GOP event on Friday, McConnell is putting those warm sentiments on hold until after November 2.

In the spot, a narrator says Rossi, a former state legislator, "voted to deny unemployment benefits to women who were fleeing domestic violence."
"Rossi wants to take away a woman's right to choose and, in almost every circumstance, make abortion illegal," the narrator says as ominous music plays in the background.

(CNN) - If "extreme" was the buzzword in the first Pennsylvania Senate debate, "economy" was the hot topic in the second debate between Republican candidate Pat Toomey and Democratic Rep. Joe Sestak on Friday.
Both candidates continued themes they have used throughout their campaigns - painting each other as "extreme" while attempting to showcase themselves as moderates.

(CNN) - Rick Scott, Florida's Republican nominee for governor, received the endorsement of his former rival Friday.
Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum endorsed Scott after a divisive Republican battle that pitted the two against each other earlier this year.
"Our state needs conservative leaders who will grow our economy and create jobs," McCollum said in a statement. "With this in mind, I will cast my vote for Rick Scott for Governor. It's the better choice for Florida."
