Poll suggests, Dems pull ahead in California

(CNN) – Tuesday yielded good news for Democrats in California with a new poll that shows the nominees for Governor and Senator leading their Republican opponents.

In the Suffolk University poll, attorney general and former Gov. Jerry Brown leads former eBay CEO Meg Whitman by 8 percentage points, 50 percent to 42 percent among likely voters. Five percent supported the third party candidates in the race.

Incumbent Sen. Barbara Boxer leads former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina by 9 percentage points in the same poll, 52 percent to 43 percent. Four percent supported the third party candidates in the race.

An L.A. Times/USC poll released Sunday, showed Boxer leading Fiorina by 8 percentage points, 50 percent to 42 percent.

The sampling error for the Suffolk survey is plus or minus 4 percentage points.

Both races have been a war of words and ads, but the new numbers suggest a Democratic tilt.

The winner of the race for governor will replace Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sen. Boxer is fighting for her 4th term in the Senate.

That's what happens when Sarah Palin endorses you in a general election, and then you claim she's qualified to be Prez. After Boxer ran ads about this, her poll numbers went up.

  2. TOTAL FACT

This is no surprise. The people in CA are ignorant. This state is full of HOMOS, African Americans and would be actors who do nothing but further the Democrats cause. They have no ideal what government is all about. OH YES< their main religion if they have any sit scientology.

Im from California and i can tell u Democrats are safe here in California. All the people i talked to say their backing Jerry Brown. Alot of people do like Meg Whitman, and the fact her ads are false and negative, she turned off alot of people. And especially her positions on issues that dont fit with californians. Yes i see people with Meg Whitman yard signs down east like Riverside and palmdale but Los angeles county etc is strongly democratic. The bay area and LA county are the two counties that really detemine the election, and both counties are strongly democratic...liberal on social issues and economic issues. Im not concerned about democrats losing in california, their safe. Elsewhere their in trouble. Im expecting to read other comments criticizing Obama and the democras calling them "Socialist" -_-......6 more days till election day! Vote! 'may the good guys win

Californians get what they deserve. No jobs, an economy ni the tank, and a red ink budget to name a few. The rest of us aren't pulling you out of the hole you're digging. Good luck.....you're going to need it.

Boxer needs to go, and never come back. Besides, if the polling questions are phrased like this, "Do you vote for the Democratic forerunners or the crappy republican Right Wingnut Tea Party loosers?

We will know on election day, won't we...but this IS california and I'm not holding my breath.

What I would likew to know is if ACORN and SCIU are counting the votes. After all, in Nevada it's already been proven that the voting machines vote for who the SEIU tell them to vote for, Harry Reid is already checked on the screen, and others voting all republican have had their votes changed when pressingthe "send," button. But, sadly, I have to tell this story because CNN wont.

So it's going to go like this - The Socialist Republic of California will elect Moonbeam Brown, he will finish off the job in short order of spending the Golden State into bankruptcy and then the conservative flyover states will have to bail out the spending-incontinent liberal Californians with our federal tax dollars.

Moonbeam Brown? Didn't he stuff the state up once before?

  13. Limbaugh is a liberal

After the hyped up governating of the republican governator failed to create jobs, failed to aleviate ANY of the record budget deficits, and continues to have the worst illegal immigration crisis in the world do you honestly question why the voters of California are fed up and want to go back to a democratic governor? Yes, it was great and sooo democratic that Davis was thrown out in a recall election... so why is the media so quiet about the failings of their beloved movie star, and the fact that his approval ratings are even worse than his recalled predecessor's were?
Liberal media my behind! They kiss up to the rich republican propaganda every chance they get!

If California voters are so stupid as to re elect a tax and spend liberal of the worst type like obama then they can pretty much guarantee themselves going into bankruptsy and they will deserve the consequences. My Congressman and Senators had better not vote to bail out that state and save their sorry butts.

Do what you've always done and you'll get what you've always gotten. If the voters of CA are stupid enough to keep voting in the liberal idiots, then they get what they deserve.

No thanks republicons. I have a college degree and you can't pull one over my eyes. Save the con for the tea-party drop outs.

How come the story about the voting machines with ballots already marked for Harry Reid in Henderson, NV (machines maintained by SEIU members) story is not being reported in the mainstream media? What about the Reid campaign giving away free food and the SEIU giving gift cards for votes, against Nevada law is not being reported by the MSM. Reid said he would win with his ground game. I guess this is it thanks to the slimy union.

God I hope the democrats make a clean sweep in the California elections. The sooner they go bankrupt, the sooner the rest of the country will accept that we cannot continue funding every social program without bankrupting the nation. Once California is forced to implement osterity steps, the better for our country as a whole.
