Virginia's 5th- Democrat Tom Perriello is defending his seat.
Where: The Fifth Congressional District is located in Southern Virginia.
Days Until Election Day: 3

(CNN) - Tom Perriello is a vulnerable freshman Democrat in a conservative district who edged out a win in 2008.

Perriello is facing off against Republican Robert Hurt, a Virginia state senator in the November election, and Democrats are pushing hard to keep that district on their side of the aisle.

'Shock and awe' coming to Washington, GOP Senate nominee says

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (CNN) - Nevada Republican Senate nominee Sharron Angle on Friday night declared "there is going to be shock and awe in Washington" after the election during a rare appearance open to the media.

Angle also mocked one of President Barack Obama's phrases, promising "we're going to have a teachable moment."

The woman who could unseat the Senate's top Democrat vowed that conservatives will demand that Congress use its lame duck session to repeal health care reform - which she called "Obamacare" - and permanently extend the Bush tax cuts.

Stage set on National Mall for Stewart, Colbert rally

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Comedy Central funnymen Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert will hold a rally on the National Mall Saturday, putting a satirical spin on partisan politics three days before midterm elections.

Stewart and Colbert's "Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear" is scheduled to start at noon.

They announced the rally in September, less than three weeks after conservative talk-show host Glenn Beck hosted a much-publicized "Restoring Honor" rally on the National Mall, urging large crowds to "turn back to God" and return America to the values on which it was founded.
