Boehner vs. Obama

(CNN) - He is poised to become the most powerful Republican in Congress if the GOP takes control of the House Tuesday.

And Rep. John Boehner's ramping up the rhetoric in anticipation, going after the president.

"We have a president in the White House who referred to Americans who disagree with him as 'our enemies,'" Boehner said Monday. "When Ronald Reagan, George Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush used the word 'enemy,' they reserved it for global terrorists and foreign dictators – enemies of the United States."

Boehner was commenting on a radio interview Obama conducted last Monday on the Spanish-language radio station where he said "If Latinos sit out the election instead of saying, 'We're gonna punish our enemies, and we're gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us' – if they don't see that kind of upsurge in voting in this election – then I think it's going to be harder."

But on Monday Obama walked the comments back. In an interview with radio host Michael Baisden he said he probably should have used the word "opponent" instead of enemy.

However, that didn't stop Boehner from continuing his criticism of the president's word choice at a rally in Ohio for Rep. Rob Portman and Republican gubernatorial candidate John Kasich.

"He uses it for people who disagree with his agenda of bigger government," Boehner said. "Mr. President, there's a word for people who have the audacity to speak up in defense of freedom, the Constitution, and the values of limited government that made our country great. We don't call them 'enemies.' We call them patriots."

He also took the time to encourage voter turnout, which was accompanied with another little dig at the president.

"The president has been here a dozen times in the past year," Boehner said. "This is about President Obama trying to get reelected in two years. So if you want to send President Obama a big loud message, vote for John Kasich tomorrow."

Obama didn't use the word "opponent." He said what he meant: "enemy."
    Ask Freud about slips.
Or Igor Stravinsky, who advised other composers, "trust your mistakes."
President Obama thinks of those who disagree with him as enemies.
He should accept and admit that reality.

And what has Mr. Boehner done to qualify as a patriot? When did he serve in the United States military service? Boehner qualifies as a right wing hypocrite and he is no patriot!

This man does not have the well being of the American people at heart. he has the dominance of the republican party on his mind above all! ever since Obama was elected, he has set out to destroy his presidency and didn't give a rodent's rump about what his efforts did to the American people. republicans want to rule for the benefit of the rich! the next two years will see this happen again, like it did from 2000 to 2008. and we may not survive this round. how sad the American people don't learn from history.

These people patience is dangerous they will pay darely for their impatience. They bitch about the budget aiming to cut 2 percent of spending on the poor and middle class then turn around and spend ten percent on tax cut to the rich, that's 8 percent just added to the national debt. They have this tax cut in place now for 10 years for cryi ng out loud which took us in the worst financial disaster the world have ever seen. When will these stupid realize it don't work.

I don't care what you say, I like the Orange man as long as he does what he says they will do. Let me ask this, how many remember Pelosi saying that "we have to pass this bill to know what is in it?" Do you think that perhaps the Stimulus bill and the healthcare bill were crafted by the leftover sixties Socio-Marxists to do exactly what they have done? The healthcare bill is a dismal failure at reform but it would be an excellent vehicle for destroying the existing system while providing government unlimited power and control over every day Americans health care, let alone 16% of our economy. Washington politicians still just don't get it, spending billions in campaign costs of OUR tax dollars while 13 to 18 million Americans remain unemployed or under employed. When the Repubs take over, they had best do what they are supposed to!

John is one of the problems with today's problems in America. He heads up the party of NO, He was with Bush for 8 years of running this once great nation into the ground. He supported George's "No child Left Behind" crap. Now we are the nation that every child is left Behind some 3rd world country. John lied about Healthcare to all of you. Who was paying for the costs of healthcare when people went to the hospital and couldn't pay? We were!! Now with this Healthcare billpassed we still will be paying but it will be less because the costs are coming done, For everyone who voted for 8 years of Bush and those who voted for Obama, it has only been 2 years since he took over. Our economy is recovering, jobs are starting to return. Americans we expect things to happen quickly, because we expect instant gradification. We get over your spoiled selfs look yourself in your mirror and ask yourselfs are things starting to get better than they were 2 years ago? Is the stock market going back up and is over 11000 again? WAKE UP AMERICA BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE, AND WE HAVE sHARON aNGLE AND THE REST OF HER GROUP IN CHARGE!!!

If Obama were serious about immigration reform, he could have asked for legislation that increased the amount of LEGAL immigrants from 300,000 to 2 million. It would have temporarily solved the problem.
Many of those who would have been allowed to come here would be here legally and have protection under us working laws.
    Making them full working citizens.
Now, it the same, people here illegally, transported by cartels and exploited. Getting forced to pay the "crossing fee" working in a sweat shop or in the illegal sex trade.

One of the biggest failures of the W admin was not being able to pay the temporary working visa program. I may not have agreed with that admin a lot, but it was a HUGE deal that a Republican president championed that cause.
    Makes one think, doesn't it?

Boehner got this right on. Obama demonizes the opposition like a radical. He throws fits when he doesn't get his way like a baby. And he attempts to control the media like a dictator. Please America...only one term for this mistake of a choice as president.

Add John Boehner to the list of the ARROGANT!

From the very onset of Obama's election, John Boehner and his GOP brothers-in-arms were plotting their OBSTRUCTION!! Now Boehner is plotting nhis hostile takeover of thenUS House and will make the President his personal enemy.

The GOP have acted like enemies. John Boehner the most vocal and prominent.

  20. The reality is...

Yeah, he 'probably should have used the word "opposition" ' but he didn't because he meant "enemies". He needs to walk back a lot of things – especially his lousy "health care" mistake.

Obama may have to be PC, but the rest of us don't. Most sane and rational Americans now see what's at stake as faceless millionaires, billionaires and foreign interests try to buy the election for the American Taliban. They are the enemies of the poor and middle class. Average hard working Americans have seen the light, and recognize that the GOBP is a desperate cult, and rather than admit their articles of faith, such as deregulation, tax cuts for the ultrarich and unfair global trade, are PROVEN FAILURES, these nutjob extremists instead are seeking to spread their darkness of ignorance, fear, lies, and hate. We are the light, and our votes will send the teatards scuttling away, like cockroaches from the light. The Party of NO has no plan, no valid ideas and certainly no concern for Main St. America. They are massively out of touch with the poor and working class. We know this, and will vote accordingly.

This demagogue frightens me. I feel that in an effort to win the White House for his party in 2012, he would be willing to do great damage to our country to make Obama look bad and unelectable.

i hope the people are smart not to let this man run the house. he just wants to sit in the chair and hold the hammer. boehner does not speak about moving this country ahead. boehner just wants to undo everything the president has done. this seems to be his only goal.

The worst thing that could happen to this country is Mr. Boehner becoming house majority leader. The guy is already getting ready to fight with the president and want to undo everything that has been done so far. I am not expecting the cuntry to progress for the better with this guy as leader of the house.
