War of words ensues in Delaware after TV exec hits back against O'Donnell

(CNN) - In the process of trying to motivate her base and convince last minute undecided voters to cast a ballot in her favor, Republican Christine O'Donnell has entered a war of words with a local television executive – and may have lost his vote in the process.

O'Donnell purchased eight 30-minute blocks of air time in Delaware last week, four of them on a local cable network operated by Tim Qualls that broadcasts in northern Delaware. The Senate candidate's campaign planned to run an Obama-style closing argument in the form of a 24-minute commercial meant to highlight O'Donnell's ties to Delaware and build connections with local voters. The ads were scheduled to run at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Qualls' network, as well as a local FOX affiliate.

Come 10 a.m. however, channel 28 failed to broadcast O'Donnell's ad and the campaign blasted the station on their Twitter account.

"This isn't our show…" one tweet read shortly after 10 a.m. ET. "We are told channel 28 'forgot' to air it...both times...even though we paid for the time slot last week."

Followed by: "Dirty politics again? I'd like to think the County run station really did just 'forget' even though we reminded them this morning."

Qualls told CNN that the campaign was given a Friday afternoon deadline to submit the ad and failed to deliver it on time. He says he needs 48 hours from delivery to be able to put an ad on his channel.

"We didn't receive the show until Saturday night," Qualls said in a phone interview. "They showed up at my employee’s house…at 11 p.m."

Qualls, who said he's been inundated with phone calls, said he supported O'Donnell but "she's losing my vote rapidly."

"I hate the fact that she's put it out there that it's politics," he said.

O'Donnell's campaign did not immediately respond to CNN's request for comment.

Meanwhile, Qualls says he hasn't seen any money from the O'Donnell campaign, but concedes one of his employees may have accepted payment for the ads without his knowledge.

"If I don't have any money, it sure as hell ain't going on," he said.

Update: O'Donnell campaign resolves ad dispute

This woman apparently couldn't tie her own shoe, and she wants to be elected to Congress?

  2. Tired of the nonsense

Now you know that O'Donnell is just a mini-Palin. Rules don't apply to them - at least in their own little minds. They think they can do anything they want and get away with it but no one else can. Remember, they're acting like spoiled 10 year olds.

  3. Tired of the nonsense

You know, since O'Donnell is a joke as a politician (and not funny at that), she could always go into acting. She kind of looks like Velma from the Scooby Doo mysteries (with all due respect to Velma).

If this is the kind of candidate that attracts a percentage of our population, what does that say about our population? And is there any help for us?

I remember what the GOP did to us under President Bush. I remember what the GOP did to hamper any progress for the 22 months under President Obama. I voted for every Democrat on the ballot this time around. The GOP dropped all pretenses. They don't care if we, the people, live or die, as long as their corporate backers are happy and have the ability to get richer. They handed our government over to the rich, and made them powerful. Hopefully not so powerful we can't take it back.

One of the things that got the GOP booted out of power in 2006 and 2008 was the public's frustration over their lack of accountability. When I hear people like O'Donnell and Palin blame the media for these alleged attacks on them, I see the party really hasn't changed. The image the public had of Palin being a buffoon was due to the interviews she gave in which she was asked reasonable, yet tough questions that she gave bumbling, foolish answers to. Ditto for O'Donnell. The media isn't out to get you, ladies, but they absolutely have every right to report on your incompetence, which is your fault and no one else's.

Just what the world needs. Another (s)arah. You are getting too big for your skirts little girl. The people of Delaware aren't as stupid as some of the people in Alaska and they will NEVER give you that senate seat. I don't care how high you wear your skirts, how many brews you drink or spells you cast. After all it didn't help that witch (s)arah either. Please fly away and take your pal with you.

If the Delaware voters vote this sorry of an excuse person to the senate then shame on them! She is clueless!

Cannot imagine anyone wanting to hear 30 minutes of O'Donnells nonsense.
She, like Angle, Rand, Miller are a disgrace to our political system and cannot believe anyone would support them.
Heaven help us and our country if any of these radical, incompetent candidates get elected.

Hmmmmm .... sounds like paranoia and excuses are running the campaign. How can a candidate be about business and the benefits of business if they don't understand the first thing about business .... profit and money. Pay your bills and get the commercial in by the deadline.

Wow this woman is immature AND irresponsible. I work in advertising and I know the importance of deadlines. Yes, on air media does require a good day or two in advance, and something tells me ODonnell's clan was a a little out of focus and not on point in meeting their deadlines, hence the reason we havent heard any comments from her. Also.. why is she doing an "Obama" style closing argument? These people criticize everything he does, but somehow always resort to his tactics... Now all I hear is "Change" in the Republican candidates campaigns... confused much? I'd say so...

On top of all O'Donnell's problems, she has to add LACK OF TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLs to her list of failures? I expected a little more from Delaware and this is what you all produced. I bad that the state is being represented by this person.

Most Americans are tired of the mainstream media's tactics. It's so obvious they are doing everything they can to get Democrats elected this year, and it will clearly backfire on them tomorrow.
