(CNN) – Two House committee chairmen are among the victims in Democrats' loss of power in this year's midterms.
Rep. John Spratt of South Carolina, chair of the House Budget Committee, and Rep. Ike Skelton of Missouri, chair of the House Armed Services Committee, both lost their re-election bids. Their losses come as Democrats are projected to lose control of the House. As the current House Minority Leader Rep. John Boehner of Ohio prepares to take the gavel from Speaker Nancy Pelosi, CNN projects that Republicans will pick up as many as 60 seats.
On the Senate side, where Democrats are projected to retain control, Sen. Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas, chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee, also lost her re-election bid.
