DeMint on GOP future

(CNN) – Republican Sen. Jim DeMint has spent this election season weighing in on races across the country but now acknowledges he may be doing some making nice in the Republican Party.

If Alaska Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski wins another term and beats Tea Party-backed Joe Miller, DeMint said they’ll “have some making up to do.”

“But I’m still hopeful Joe Miller will pull off a miracle there in Alaska,” DeMint said on CNN’s John King, USA Wednesday.

Murkowski lost the GOP primary to Miller and then launched a write-in campaign. The Senate race in Alaska is still too close to call.

DeMint also addressed what he think Republicans should do about raising the debt ceiling when Congress returns so the government can continue to print and spend money.

“I think Republicans will say no,” DeMint told CNN’s Chief National Correspondent John King. “Unless that raising of the debt ceiling is accompanied by some dramatic spending cuts, something that would direct us toward a balanced budget in the future, Republicans will not support an increase in the debt limit.”

Although during the campaign season he didn’t always back the Republican establishment candidates, DeMint said he has no plans to help candidates challenge incumbent senators.

“I have no intentions at this point of supporting primary challengers to any of my colleagues,” DeMint said. “I think you may see primary challenges if my colleagues don’t do what we promised as Republicans.”

DeMint stated in a recent speech and echoed by many prominent republicanhs:
"The goal is complete gridlock for the next two years. There is no place for bi-partianship, compromise.
The only acceptable outcome is total victory and any politician that disagrees will be treated as a
    traitor. This is war".
This is representing us and our country??
No, they have put their win at any cost, destroy our president and quest to give control of our country
back to Wall St over the welfare, survival of us and our country.

I hope Lisa Murkowski treats the rethugliban exactly the same way they've been treating her for the last 6 months. It would serve them right if she decided to switch parties and either outright become a dem, or go indy and caucus with the dems.

DeMented and all the other lunitic fringe want everyone to think the sky is falling. Now he will have to corral his extremists and try to make it look like they can govern. And Obama will play these simple minded hillbillies like a drum.
