(CNN) - Independent candidate Lincoln Chafee has defeated Republican John Robitaille and Democrat Frank Caprio to win the race for Rhode Island governor, CNN projects. Republican Gov. Don Carcieri is term-limited. Projections are based on CNN analysis of exit poll data.
