(CNN) – Republican Christine O'Donnell sounded a defiant tone the day after losing her Delaware Senate bid to Democrat Chris Coons, calling her loss a "symptom of Republican cannibalism."
"In other areas, where the establishment Republican didn't win their primary, the local Republican parties united right away. Solidarity goes a long way. Unfortunately, that never happened in Delaware," O'Donnell said during an interview on CNN's American Morning.
O'Donnell has frequently lamented her party's initial reluctance to back her candidacy since she beat longtime Rep. Mike Castle in the Republican primary in September.
"Sen. Cornyn says there was nothing we can do, we didn't have enough money. But if he and Karl Rove had said, look, she is articulate on the issues as many people after watching our debates were able to say…there was verbal support they could have offered as pundits, so to speak, that they chose not to for whatever reason," O'Donnell said.
"I think had Karl Rove immediately come out to support us, had the NRSC even helped us verbally, we could have closed the gap," O'Donnell said.
O'Donnell's primary win shocked her party's establishment, and the Tea Party-backed newcomer initially confronted skepticism from her party's state leadership, as well as many prominent national Republican figures who thought her primary opponent had the best chance of beating a Democrat in the race for Delaware's Senate seat previously held by Vice President Joe Biden.
Isn't the reason for her loss not republican cannibalism, but republican extremism? The Sarah Palin republicans are trying to shove the moderates out of the party. You can't shun the moderates then whine when they don't vote for your candidate.
I suspect Rush will still propose a GOP 2012 Presidential ticket of Palin/O'Donnell. All three are morons.
The biggest issue I have with these little Tea Party Squawk-boxes is whether they win or lose, they never go away. I guess, now I gotta get used to hearing her annoying voice for the next few years too.
"Man up" O'Donnell and stop whinning.
she has no Job she will keep the campaign money.
My bet by months end she is on fox with the other republican losers and quiters
She can give a million reasons but the one matters is that the voters saw/see her as totally unqualified to be a US Senator.
Her loss can be explained very, very simply: Can't fix stupid.
