(CNN) - Outgoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Friday she will run for minority leader, even as some moderate and conservative Democrats have said she should step aside.
Pelosi made the announcement on Twitter: "Driven by the urgency of creating jobs & protecting #hcr, #wsr, Social Security & Medicare, I am running for Dem Leader."

Outgoing House Speaker Nancy may have been good at raising money, but so what, Dems lost the house!!!. The Republican criticism in the past was often unfair, but then she had equal access to the media but was inept and she remains the easy target of ridicule. She catered to the delusional liberal left rather then try to pull them into the mainstream as an effective leader would have done. She is a loser!!! Now we need a minority leader that can effectively communicate to the public why the GOP agenda is bad for America and Nancy does not have the credibility to do that. What is needed is a minority leader that inspires rather then one that is dragging the party down.
She needs to go away unless she is determined to hand the Whitehouse to the Republicans in 2010.
The best thing she could do for the "cause" would be to get out of the leadership. She is very polarizing. I have voted Democratic in the last two elections and I can barely stand her. Someone less devoted to issues and more to personalities would likely vote against her rather than issues or the President.
I believe that she should step down. Why did they wait till they have no power to "work together", and do the "peoples wishes". We'll be watching and doing more changes if politicians don't do the "people's wishes"
It blows my mind that she was re-elected. This woman serves no purpose for this great country. She has been as much of the problem as Obama in destroying this land.
