BREAKING: Pelosi running for Dem leader

(CNN) - Outgoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Friday she will run for minority leader, even as some moderate and conservative Democrats have said she should step aside.

Pelosi made the announcement on Twitter: "Driven by the urgency of creating jobs & protecting #hcr, #wsr, Social Security & Medicare, I am running for Dem Leader."

"Let's get something straight: The private sector jobs are growing not BECAUSE of Obama policies but rather DESPITE Obama policies. And we are happy with such a POOR private sector job growth? We should be growing four times this rate!! "

Sigh. There is not a single expert economist on the planet that will agree with the nonsense you just vomitted. ECONOMIST...not POLITICIAN...ECONOMIST. There's a difference...and it shows every time the GOPers open their idiot mouths.

Thank you Nancy Pelosi! Not every American hates you. For all the ones that hate you, there are those of us who appreciate your hard work for working class Americans. Don't let the haters discourage you. I think you are a courageous woman.

Oh Goody. The Wicked Witch of the West will try to hang on a little longer. If she was so concerned with creating jobs then why has she been trying to push Obama's jub killing agenda?

Please don't. You have become an icon of Republican ire...being seen working with you would be hard for Republicans...lessening the chance of compromise and working together. Let someone else lead please. :D

She has already taken too much from America, without returning any benefit. She must go.

Nancy it is time to retire. There are so many available, and qualified people in the Dem Party – why would you go for a speaker that is both controversial, lacks humility and is out of touch with the people of the USA.

Nancy is one of the worst speakers of the house and for those of you that think she is smart well many of us view her as about the same level as Palin – lol.

Outgoing House Speaker Nancy may have been good at raising money, but so what, Dems lost the house!!!. The Republican criticism in the past was often unfair, but then she had equal access to the media but was inept and she remains the easy target of ridicule. She catered to the delusional liberal left rather then try to pull them into the mainstream as an effective leader would have done. She is a loser!!! Now we need a minority leader that can effectively communicate to the public why the GOP agenda is bad for America and Nancy does not have the credibility to do that. What is needed is a minority leader that inspires rather then one that is dragging the party down.

She needs to go away unless she is determined to hand the Whitehouse to the Republicans in 2010.

The best thing she could do for the "cause" would be to get out of the leadership. She is very polarizing. I have voted Democratic in the last two elections and I can barely stand her. Someone less devoted to issues and more to personalities would likely vote against her rather than issues or the President.

I believe that she should step down. Why did they wait till they have no power to "work together", and do the "peoples wishes". We'll be watching and doing more changes if politicians don't do the "people's wishes"

It blows my mind that she was re-elected. This woman serves no purpose for this great country. She has been as much of the problem as Obama in destroying this land.

Does this mean, if she becomes House Minority Leader she'll get to use her $40MM plane on a stand-by basis?
