Voters to states: No new taxes

New York (CNNMoney.com) - Thanks to voters, alcohol will no longer be taxed in Massachusetts. Candy won't be subject to a levy in Washington anymore. And California drivers won't have to pay a proposed $18 fee to fund state parks.

State residents aren't feeling very generous these days, even though now is when government officials say they need the tax money the most.

Now IS the time when the States need the tax dollars, but like Palin, most folks aren't able to see beyond their own selfish wants and needs. I will be paying close attention to the GOP controlled States. Without additional revenue, these States don't have much of a chance in digging out of the recession anytime soon. Off topic, but Trending closed rather early today: Palin needn't worry overly much about the “The blood of Jesus against Obama history made 4 Nov 2008 a Taliban Muslim illegally elected president USA:Hussein.” Apparently, the Blood of Jesus has escaped Palin herself. I suspect she has been too busy primping for the Media to understand the concept of Christianity, let alone understand Christ.

States have to live within their means, also.

They are already taxing us to death, with hidden taxes and fees, on so many things. They double tax us on roads, by going to only toll roads. They are some of the worst, in monetary waste.

Cities are even worse, building stupid, wasteful projects of highly questionable value, building sports stadiums that basically underwrite the rich owners at public expense, and build projects that go no where.

In Dallas, they have severe budget shortfalls, yet they are building a "park" over a major crosstown freeway, which no one will use because of the traffic fumes. They are building a bridge over the river, that has minimal value, at astronomical cost.

Government is so wasteful, it is just horrendous.

"now is when government officials say they need the tax money the most."

Really? Really???? The government ALWAYS needs more money and they'll be the first to tell you. The only way these beaurocrats will ever do anything to reign in their bloated fifedoms is when they're FORCED to. Kudos to everyone who had a hand in passing these measures.
