Bush says brother Jeb isn't running for prez

(CNN) - Jeb Bush for president isn't happening – at least in 2012, according to his older ex-president brother.

Though many White House aspirants fend off early questions about running for the Oval Office, former President George Bush says "no" means "no" when it comes to his brother.

"I wish he would," the former president told Fox News. "He has to run first. And he has made it clear he is not running in 2012. And when the man says, 'I'm not running,' he means it. I wish he would run."

Still, talk of a potential Jeb Bush run has increased in Beltway circles as the former president's popularity is on the rise and the Bush name no longer carries the toxic political baggage it once did. And that's keeping political analysts speculating 2012 may be a ripe year for the younger Bush to take on the man who suceeded his brother.

"The person I'm keeping my eye on, and I would have never said this two years ago, but someone who could unite the factions of the party, Jeb Bush," said David Gergen, a CNN contributor.

THANK GOD!!!! We, the people need a LONG distance between Daddy Bush, Son #1 and Son #2. Hopefully he will NEVER get the office – maybe in 2032. (HA)!!!

In what country in the World does the Bush name no longer carry the toxic baggage. This is the 21st century of information and not the horse and pony days.

President George W Bush has also given a speech with a banner titled " MISSION ACCOMPLISHED " behind him on a U.S. Aircraft carrier . He may still be confused about whom attacked the United States on 9/11 ? Does he still think Saddam Hussein is an ally of Osama bin laden ? Speaking of Iraq -–anyone remember our stated reason for the ultimatum and invasion ? President Bush also commuted but did not pardon the sentence of Scotter Libby ? He still defends water boarding ? He still favors making his 2001 tax cutts permanent for the wealthiest two percent of Americans ? He had his defenders ! I had someone message me today , " President Bush has more class in the dribble of his urine than some other ex= Presidents " .

The only reason that Jeb isn't running for president is that Bush Sr. and his cabal are afraid that the subsequent investigations will lead to convictions of both Bush Sr. and Jr. for crimes against humanity. Like father, like son, they're both criminals of the highest order and should swing in the The Hague for their crimes. Cheney should just be unplugged: He's not worthy of anything more dignified.

Though Jeb is the smarter of the two, we don't need another Bush in the White House.

First of all – WHO SAID THIS IS TRUE!!!! The media has the tendency to PUSH something that they MAKE UP!! That, in turn, sets the STAGE and the subliminal seduction begins. People get SUCKED INTO believing it and then the LIES begin!!

PLEASE – Bush is still noted for starting two wars and bringing us to the worst deficit of all times!!!

This is T'SAH – OUT of Campaign MODE (and CNN should take a break too) – N2 MOVING AMERICA FORWARD with President Obama!!

It will take this country at least 100 years to forget the Bush legacy. I'm sure he's too embarrased to run anyway.

CNN – why is that nut case palin ALWAYS at the top of your ticker? She is not nor will she ever be important. We have a president whether you acknowledge it or not. I'm very offended by your disrespect.

Oh puleeeze, Jeb for President? Give the newly elected Teatards time to completely dismantle America, thereby finishing the job started by Jeb's little brother before you even think of adding the 'cherry on top'!
Is there anybody left within the GObP with Presidential ambitons for 2012 that HAS NOT crawled out from under a rock yet?

Give it a rest already. Enough of the Bush clan. We had Bush and Clintons in office for 20 of the last 22 years. Thank goodness Clinton didn't win yet again and Gov. let me decide if his own brother wins the election or not decides to back-off (for now).

Jeb would have been better than his brother and still would make a fine President, regardless of his brother. But people won't see it that way.

Jeb Bush was always the one the family thought would run. He is not as rigid as his brother was, and I think David Gergen is right, he could be a unifier for the Republican party. His conversion to Catholicism not withstanding, he seems less taken with the religious right and more a center right candidate.

"no longer carries the toxic political baggage"... Really?? Really?? Am I reading a Fox News piece? George W. Bush may be popular at Tea Party bar-b-ques, but to most Americans, he's still the person responsible for two horrendously handled and needless wars, a crippling economy, the worst handling of a natural disaster in political history, and doing everything wrong in the wake of 9-11. Liberal media – yeah right!

    ?!?!???? WHAT?!?!

@George W. Bush, HOW CAN HE RUN FOR ANYTHING?!?!
I wouldn't vote for Bush to be a gardener or a bush trimmer
Now Jeb, THE SMARTEST OF THE BUSH BROTHERS, can't get squat!
You screwed up the country SO BAD that 60 years from now if your daughters children want to run THEY WILL BE DENIED because your tenure in power was SO BAD!

"the Bush name no longer carries the toxic political baggage it once did" What rock have you been hiding under Mr. Mooney. Everything going on today hinges on the Ex Bush Presidency. It was his failed policies that got us into this mess. No toxic political bagage? Everythin about Bush is toxic. Sorry we don't need another one even thinking about the white house.

Jeb Bush is one of only a very few Republicans that would have a chance to get elected in 2012. If Palin runs it will hand the election to Obama. She is entertaining comedy not a serious candidate. Does anyone actual think you can quit as governor and then run a serious campaign for president? That will not sell across America. Jeb would bring in plenty of the ever increasing Hispanic vote. He's smart and like-able and he's got a real chance to get elected.

He'd be a thousand times better than the idiot in there now. At least this guy has a lot of executive experience. And I doubt he'd demonize everybody in sight like Obozo. He's been an unmitigated DISASTER!
