Palin's new target: Bernanke

(CNN) – After months of delivering red meat political speeches ahead of the midterm elections, Sarah Palin is pivoting towards tackling the Federal Reserve's monetary policy.

The former Alaska governor is the keynote speaker at the Specialty Tools & Fasteners Distributors Association (STAFDA) trade show in Phoenix Monday, during which she will take on the Fed's so-called "quantitative easing" plan.

"Will discuss Fed's quantitative easing plan(print $ out of thin air)tmrrw@ tools trade assn speech" Palin tweeted Sunday. She added in a tweet Monday, "Today:trade speech;tmrw school event 2 start discussing QuantitativeEasing w kids around US so they prepare 4 Feds experiment w their future."

The speech appears to be a transition of sorts for Palin, who has largely steered clear of major policy addresses since leaving her post as Alaska's governor more than a year ago – a move that has left her vulnerable to criticism she lacks the substance to be a bona fide leader of the GOP.

In Palin's prepared remarks obtained by The National Review, the former vice presidential candidate said the policy "deeply concern[s] her."

"If it doesn't work, what do we do then? Print even more money?" Palin will say.

"What's the end game here? Where will all this money printing on an unprecedented scale take us? Do we have any guarantees that QE2 won't be followed by QE3, 4, and 5, until eventually – inevitably – no one will want to buy our debt anymore? What happens if the Fed becomes not just the buyer of last resort, but the buyer of only resort?"

In its latest move to jump start the sluggish recovery, the Federal Reserve announced last week it will pump billions into the economy by buying $600 billion in long-term U.S. Treasury bonds over the next eight months – policy known as quantitative easing.

The bond purchases will total up to $900 billion and be completed by the end of the third quarter of 2011.

I think it’s pitch perfect, and she just got lots more eyes/ears on this speech by getting this snippet out here.

How will the Obama administration respond to this one? Seems like a “Death Panels II” type broadside against their agenda, IMO.

Good lord. If anyone believes that Sarah Palin actually has a clue about what "quantitative easing" is, I've got a bridge I'd like to sell you.

I would think that the state of Alaska would be embarrassed by this idiot. Maybe when Murkowski wins and sarah's darling fellow idiot, Miller, loses she will see that point! Stupid is what stupid does!

Palin is setting herself up for a butt kicking of her life, she knows nothing about economics. Watch her run from the media and refuse to answer any questions if she's caught on spot. Palin has picked a dog fight she really doesn't want to be in, economics isn't words, it's math, math, math and intensive study or is she trying to take the lazy way out and hoping Bernanke will tweet her the answers.

$arah – since when do you know more about monetary policy than the Fed Chairman??
All you know how to do is run your filthy mouth for $$$$$$ – preaching your brand of hate to those too dumb to realize what the truth is.
Go crawl back under the rock you came from in Alaska already!!!!!

This woman doesn't understand the Federal Reserve System or America's financial structure. She has no training, education, or any specific knowledge on virtually anything. The population of Alaska is less than San Francisco's, the vast majority of the land is government controlled, and the population is heavily subsidized by American taxpayers and oil companies, so certainly her executive experience has taught her nothing. She doesn't even read books or magazines. Come on – why is she even in the news.

Without something written down in front of her, she wouldn't even be able to tell you what it is that Ben Bernanke DOES. Until a couple of weeks ago, she probably that QE2 was a boat.

hey ding dong! If YOU can't answer the question don't ask it! Any idiot can ask questions... without a clue of what the correct answer should be...It' takes brains and savy to answer questions intelligently – it also takes courage, dedication and reasoning,,,all the things I am very sure you are completely incapable of

Unfortunately, the 2010 election results show how unintelligent the American people really are. Wait until you see what congress will do to the middle class and poor. And what your state governments will do to needy programs.

Good friend of mine has two sayings: 1. You cannot cure stupid. 2. Just let the train wreck happen.....

She is right, the only way to increase employment is to cut corporate taxes and to shred Obama Disaster Care. Then you will see a dramatic increse in employment. Spending money the way this administration is doing is a waste. Sarah Palin for President in 2012.

Please, this woman is a complete idiot. We should put as much credence in her verbal diarrhea as in Bachmann’s, who is standing behind the story that the Administration’s Asia trip is costing $200M per day, utilizing 10% or our entire navy, and has an entourage of 2,000 people. Any wonder why a good chunk of the U.S. population thinks the far right is made up a bunch of idiots? You don’t HAVE to be a complete moron to be a right wing nut, but it sure does help.

All of you are criticizing Palin for making this comment which shows that you will criticize Paling for ANYTHING that comes out of her mouth. With her influence and exposure, it is a fantastic development that she is bringing the practices of the Fed to light. The Fed is completely unchecked and answer to nobody. They can pretty much do whatever they want, and it affects all of us. And to add insult to injury, they refuse to open their books to show us their accounting. Completely criminal. I suggest everyone view the documentary "The Secret of Oz" to gain some insight on the history for this "private" institution and the role of the bankers in government in general. You will be shocked.

If this wasn't such a serious matter it would be hilarious that Palin would be speaking about the Federal Reserve. She does not have a clue on financial matters as important as this and it is a complete fraud and a joke to have her speaking the words written by someone else on such an important matter. When she asks "whats the end game" most of the world would like to know when her "end game of fraud" is going to be up, so that the educated can get to work on important issues without her word hole having to spew out lies everyday of her life.Who ever hired Screech Palin to read their writings should be ashamed of themselves for falling for this fraud

Not only does she not know anything about economics or the Federal Reserve, she knows nothing at all. She can't even put together a complete coherent sentence. Please, who in the world is directing her to attack all these areas? She is definitely not smart enough to come up with this herself. Just please go away and shut up. Stop giving her all this air time, I'm begging. She is not news!!!!
