(CNN) - She's coming off a successful midterm election season, is on the heels of releasing a second book, and about to star in an adventure-packed reality television show, but Sarah Palin's poll numbers are going in the wrong direction.
A new survey by Gallup suggests more than half of all Americans (52 percent) now hold a negative view of the former Alaska governor, the highest unfavorable rating Palin has ever registered in the organization's polling. Her 40 percent favorable rating meanwhile ties her lowest score in Gallup history, registered in the fall of 2009 shortly after she quit her post as governor.
Palin also registered a 40 percent favorable rating in CNN/Opinion Research Corporation national poll conducted just before the midterm elections. According to the CNN survey, 49 percent said they had an unfavorable opinion of Palin.
The Gallup poll indicates that Palin seems to have lost her biggest chunk of support among independent voters – the voting bloc that was crucial in handing Republicans control of the House on Election Day. Her favorability among those voters has dropped 8 points since the summer, according to the poll, from 43 percent to 35 percent.
But as independents appear to be growing wary of Palin, more Republican voters are entering her fold. Her favorability among the GOP rank and file has climbed five points since July to a sky-high 80 percent – a rating that any aspiring GOP White House aspirant would love to claim.
Meanwhile, as has always been the case, few Democrats give Palin high marks – 15 percent now compared to 18 percent in July.
The survey, conducted from November 4-7, surveyed 1,021 adults and carries a sampling error of 4 percentage points.
Doesn't suprise me. I just heard on our local news her new book will only be sold in 1 store in our state. Intelligent people knew she was a divisive racist in 2008. The rest of the poor slobs that approve of her are brain dead.
And Palin couldn't care less ... she's a money-grubber, quitter, no-show mom who pays lip-service to "real America" all the while laughing her way to the bank. Oh, and spending time getting her hair/make-up/Botox/boobs done so she looks good for the camera.
Palin = Quitter, Liar, Mooch
I'm actually an independant, but I have to say. I actually feel bad for Republicans if Palin is all you have in 2012. As much as people like her, she's just plain unelectable in a general election. Period. If she's nominated for the GOP in 2012, that will be the only way Obama gets re-elected.
"Her favorability among the GOP rank and file has climbed five points since July to a sky-high 80 percent"
Those far right-wingers are going to be in for a big shock in February with the release of the book: "The Lies of Sarah Palin: The Untold Story Behind Her Relentless Quest for Power" by Geoffrey Dunn. I think the March 2011 polls will show a big drop in Republican support for sarah once the REAL sarah is exposed.
Palin is not, as some posters suggest, a "very nice person." Unless you consider nice to be someone who:
– quits when the going gets tough
– is an absentee mother (one pregnant teenage daughter, one abandoned special-needs son)
– smirks when people call for the killing of her political opponent
– lies about "death panels" just to scare old folks and score political points
– uses her religion as an excuse for her bad behavior
– blames all her short-comings on the "lame-stream media."
If that's your definition of "nice," I'd hate to see "mean."
