
(CNN) - They may soon be fighting for the GOP presidential nomination, but for now Newt Gingrich is sticking up for Mitt Romney over his health care stance.
The Massachusetts health care plan enacted while Romney was governor of the state is often criticized by conservatives for its similarities to the health care bill passed by Congress last year. But former House Speaker Gingrich came to his defense.

"Refudiate" was named the 2010 word of the year by the New Oxford American Dictionary.
The former Alaska governor famously used the made-up word on her Twitter account in July, which sent the media into a tizzy.

(CNN) – Virginia Thomas, a conservative political activist and wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas announced she will be stepping down as head of Liberty Central, a grassroots political organization she founded a year ago, and which has links to the Tea Party Movement.
The decision was announced by the Virginia-based group's public relations firm.

Washington (CNN) - Standing outside Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office in the Capitol waiting for a meeting to break up, I bumped into Wisconsin Republican Rep-elect Sean Duffy who was wandering around the second floor of the building on Monday giving himself his first tour of the Capitol.
Sunday was the first time the incoming freshman Republican set foot in the Capitol building and he was especially excited and surprised when House GOP Leader John Boehner took incoming freshmen on the House floor. Duffy told me "it was pretty awesome."

(CNN) - Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, a longtime defender of congressional earmarks, said Monday he will back a ban on the controversial spending items when congressional Republicans meet on Tuesday.
(CNN) –Democrats continue to rack up wins in unresolved races for the U.S. House.
Republican Congressional candidate Andy Barr's concession to Democratic incumbent Rep. Ben Chandler has brought Kentucky's 6th district race to a close, adding another seat to the Democratic tally.
