(CNN) - The Food and Drug Administration is preparing to ban caffeinated alcohol drinks, Sen. Charles Schumer said Tuesday.

The FDA, which has been reviewing the drinks since last year, declined to comment on the report. Spokeswoman Siobhan Delancey said the matter was still under review.

Well I'm glad the FDA is doing something worth while, while we are being poisoned by food, and other things, imported from China

This is why the cost of government is so high.. YOU DON'T have to buy caffeinated alcohol drinks..THEY' RE telling others what THEY think is good for them. WHO ARE THEY? do they have special knowledge about what is good for everyone?
here is an idea: start rebuilding the middle class with decent pay. (about $120,000 per year)

  3. Randolph Carter, I'm no expert, but...

So much for the poor man's speedball. Does this proposed ban include Irish coffee at a fancy restaurant or is that considered an alcoholated caffeine drink? Have a nice day!

What a Joke, what the hell happened to self-accountability. Now we get told we can’t purchase something else. Red Bull and Rockstar are probably backing this because the caffeinated alcohol drinks were dippin into their sales. What’s next the government going to tell us we can’t buy a 6pack of beer and Red Bull at the same time. What a JOKE. Spend our tax money on something productive.

"Every day brings new revelations about the disastrous healthcare fiasco. "

Oh really? LIST THEM. Go ahead...let's see what you can come up with. Hint: don't start with the "doc fix" reported bleow on the the Ticker...it's 100% unrelated to "obamacare" (so are increases to your health insurance this year, which fairly well match the annual increases over the past several years that got us into the current health care mess). Here, I'll give youj a starter:

Some people don't like that they need to get a perscription from a doctor relating their need for over-the-counter drugs to a recognizable medical condition in order to use TAX EXEMPT money from their health savings account to purchase those over-the-counter drugs. Others, like myself, recognize that we shouldn't be allowing people to use tax exempted money to buy hangover advil.

    You turn.

On what basis is this being done? This liberal leftist "we know better than you" BS has got to stop. You have San Francisco leftists banning happy meal toys and now this? I guess if they can force us to buy health insurance they can do anything to us right? American, used to be the land of the free and the home of the brave! The leftists are turning it into the land of the poor and the home of the slave.

I think I speak for all of us curious enough to have tried Four Loko, when I say that the flavor should be enough of a deterrant. It tastes like vomit...quite literally...and if you could actually finish even half a can of it, you must enjoy the flavor of vomit. However, this proposal doesn't seem to be that bad of an idea since kids are killing themselves being stupid with it. But hey, let's not interfere with the free market, right conservatives? Let social darwinism weed out those stupid enough to pound 3 cans of the stuff in an hour, right? Just make sure you do a good job parenting and warn little SteveBob before you let him go out to the tractor pull.

And tobacco grown in VA and the south...or plants grown in CA...or meat from Utah...or new fad drinks maderight here i the US that have already killed a few kids because of their tendency to engage in risky behavior. The FDA can only manage to accomplish what we let it. Please give them a heads-up once you've convinced Phillip Morris to stop lobbying Congress.

i guess since the TSA can ignore the 4th amendment, its ok for the FDA to ignore the 21st.
