(CNN) – Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes isn't holding back when it comes to his opinion of President Obama, saying in a recent interview that he espouses a version of "socialism…too far left" even for some European countries.
"The president has not been very successful," Ailes told Howard Kurtz, the Washington Bureau Chief for the Daily Beast and a CNN contributor. "He just got kicked from Mumbai to South Korea, and he came home and attacked Republicans for it. He had to be told by the French and the Germans that his socialism was too far left for them to deal with."
The comments constituted part of Ailes' argument that Fox News is a fair and balanced news network that criticizes the president not because he is a Democrat but because the network merely reflects the fact that Obama "just has a different belief system than most Americans."
Meanwhile, Ailes added that it has always been his network's policy to "be more direct" in challenging commander-in-chiefs, no matter their party affiliation.
He also suggested the rest of the news media is only now beginning to report accurately on the president.
"He's had 3,000 press secretaries since he got into office," Ailes also said. (For the record, Robert Gibbs has been Obama's only press secretary so far.) "He's making it harder for the press to make him look good. When the press falls in love, they fall in love hard. They're like teenagers in love. It's like the old Frankie Lymon song, 'Why Do Fools Fall in Love?'"
Ailes also came to former President George W. Bush's defense, saying Obama has relentlessly attacked the "poor guy."
"This poor guy, sitting down on his ranch clearing brush, gained a lot of respect for keeping his mouth shut. I literally never heard an Obama speech that didn't blame Bush," he said.
BS. What has Obama done wrong? Be specific.
Meanwhile, the Republicans are giving this guy his $700 billion dollar tax break. You're welcome Mr. Ailes.
Don't know about the rest of you, but I'm sick of hearing Obama's Socialism. When we bail out bankers who caused a global economic meltdown, isn't that Socialism, too? Or how about tax breaks for corporations that shipped our jobs overseas. What's that? Socialism. Or is it only Socialism when maybe some of us poor slobs benefit with a safety net, like our elderly not having to live on cat food, or people hurt by shipping jobs overseas being able to feed themselves because of an extension of unemployment benefits? The double standard is starting to get old. Only the rich and the corporations can have extra heaping helpings of Socialism? Seriously?
Fair and Balanced my a.... But I'm not one bit surprised. Thank you sir for continue the demise of common courtesy, cooperation and a whole hand-full of other American values.
Now there's a comment you would never expect from FOX News...Not.
He has to be the ugliest man (inside and out) on the planet!
Fox "News?" Not really...just an arm of the ultra-conservative factions with little no rational thought going on between those ears! Perhaps a more fitting name for this network would be the "Fox Comedy Channel"
Obviously, Ailes has been watching his own network because he has so many facts wrong.
Do this clown think Faux news is fair and balance, it isn't even a real news network. It's a network where right wing nuts can spread their lies and hate.
AIles is a fascist nut who wouldn't recognize Socialism if it handed him a towel in the mens' room.
And he's a scary nut with power and a bully pulpit.
Fox News is a rag. So what else is new?
I thought I've heard it all and witnessed the limit of buffoonery, but this guy takes the cake. This butterball's only job should be getting shot out of a cannon or doing belly flops in a small pool. What an absolute, pure idiot. But keep talking, you're only building up the democrat base to fight these kinds of outlandish exaggerations you and your political entertainment network mouth off.
explain why you call Obama a socialist.
The lies from "faux" are repulsive. Somebody needs to step in an straighten this fool out.
Please die you old out of touch fossil. Your party, let alone your network, has done nothing for this country besides tear it apart. Fear monger.
Roger Ailes, media consultant for Republican presidents Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and George H. W. Bush, as well as Rudy Giuliani’s first mayoral campaign...but yeah, he's "fair and balanced" as long as you are a Republican. People who get their news from Faux need to get their head's examined. This whole article was laughable.
wow. so much for journalistic credibility and objective reporting. if the CEO of fux news can't his bias out of the media, then how can his new station?
" He had to be told by the French and the Germans that his socialism was too far left for them to deal with."?????
Does the fact that he represented US interests and some others did not like it make him a socialist?
Yesterday I saw a great bumber sticker: Do you hear crazy voices? Turn off Fox News.
You are a joke
Yeah, Ailes. Calls them like he sees them. Especially like his comments about Bush, sitting in quiet dignity, enduring the relentless Obama whining attacks. And it is true that Obama is getting to far left for even the French and Germans, in fact, as the world goes right, this incompetent, idiots the unions stole the election for goes further and further left. Guess he is trying to earn the Nobel Peace Prize the eurotrash gave him for doing nothing.
So much for "Fair and Balanced." If only Ailes cared about what the President doing when his network helped spread lies linking Iraq to 9/11.
Too bad for Obama that everything Ailes said is true. We would not be in this mess if the press had vetted Obama. So we ended up with a guy that has never run anything wtih advisers who resemble a College faculty lounge who are great talkers too but have never done anything either. Thats why the midterms were so crucial and voters knew it.
Fox News is a fair and balanced news network?......someone needs to get back on their meds again!
the democrats clueless how did we get in this shape any way what has the GOP done for america in the last 10 years ??? nothing
this guy is a whack job. "He's had 3,000 press secretaries since he got into office," Ailes also said. (For the record, Robert Gibbs has been Obama's only press secretary so far.)
Riiiiiiight. Because they were so tough on Bush the Younger.
"Fair and balanced", my entire hind-quarters.
