Fox News chief: Obama's 'socialism' left of France

(CNN) – Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes isn't holding back when it comes to his opinion of President Obama, saying in a recent interview that he espouses a version of "socialism…too far left" even for some European countries.

"The president has not been very successful," Ailes told Howard Kurtz, the Washington Bureau Chief for the Daily Beast and a CNN contributor. "He just got kicked from Mumbai to South Korea, and he came home and attacked Republicans for it. He had to be told by the French and the Germans that his socialism was too far left for them to deal with."

The comments constituted part of Ailes' argument that Fox News is a fair and balanced news network that criticizes the president not because he is a Democrat but because the network merely reflects the fact that Obama "just has a different belief system than most Americans."

Meanwhile, Ailes added that it has always been his network's policy to "be more direct" in challenging commander-in-chiefs, no matter their party affiliation.

He also suggested the rest of the news media is only now beginning to report accurately on the president.

"He's had 3,000 press secretaries since he got into office," Ailes also said. (For the record, Robert Gibbs has been Obama's only press secretary so far.) "He's making it harder for the press to make him look good. When the press falls in love, they fall in love hard. They're like teenagers in love. It's like the old Frankie Lymon song, 'Why Do Fools Fall in Love?'"

Ailes also came to former President George W. Bush's defense, saying Obama has relentlessly attacked the "poor guy."

"This poor guy, sitting down on his ranch clearing brush, gained a lot of respect for keeping his mouth shut. I literally never heard an Obama speech that didn't blame Bush," he said.

Too bad he won't get fired like Jaun Williams and Rick Sanchez. Fair and balanced my a**. And as usual for Fox, his facts aren't even straight. Ailes needs to quit watching his own network and watch some other CREDIBLE news outlet.

Way to tell it like it is Roger!! I can hardly wait to see the looney leftists on this board go insane(r). But the drug ridden left that supports Obozo will always think his socialist policies are main stream even though the same policies have rendered Europe bankrupt and rioting in the streets as we speak. For these loons, it is all about how much they can get for nothing. They would not survive if not for the hard work of others to support them.

Yea, big government sucks, but these corporate moguls would rather the American people kiss their boots. The Private sector will destroy this country, they have already proved in every way that they cannot be trusted.

(For the record, Ailes means that most of the media has been touting Obama's so-called accomplishments since he became effect, all of them acting as press secretaries.) Can any idiot get a job in the CNN Political Unit?

“Fox News is a fair and balanced news network!” What a joke, anyone in that capacity should take a natural stands and not verbalize his hatred. It only shows that this media outlet is one side and what they represent. He just want to keep the Bush tax alive for his millions of dollars- Where is the respect for our president!

Ahhhh the magic of self-delusion. He makes very few points in the interview and most of them are wrong. Obama is not a Socialist, he's not to the left of France, his policies haven't failed, and the press has never been in love with him. The press gave a huge pass to the egregious errors of his predecessors. The only thing he has right is that he blames the previous administration for a the Republicans did for all 8 years of Reagan. Sorry, Roger, but it's going to take more than 2 years to clean up the mess your friends spent 8 years making. You're a hypocrite and a liar and the only "fools" are people who put any stock at all in the falsehoods you and your brownshirt network spew out as news.

If Obama has a "different belief system than most Americans" then why did most Americans vote for him?!?

Thanks to the subversive agents at FAUX news, this country is moving to the right at a frightening speed. It's at the point where even Ronald Reagan could not get nominated for the Republican party to run for president these days for not being 'right' enough!

Obama didn't get "kicked" anywhere – when will Ailes stop lying?

What a bunch of crap, Ailes seems to believe the crap he hears on his own network...

...last time I checked 25% of crazy Republicans does not constitute a majority in this country, GEEZ, just because you make a lot of noise when you squeal, does not mean there are 10 of you, just one ill mannered and spoiled brat...

..."3000 press secretaries" fact Obama has had only one....LOL, what a joke this moron Ailes is, you know when people start believing that thier own crap doesn't stink, that is when they usually get a rude awakening...are you listening Ailes.

So much for a "fair and balanced" new organization. All this guys sells is fear and paranoia, and old white people buy into it.

You're kidding, right? Most of what Fox News puts on the air is biased opinion. Now and then they get a fact thrown in there by luck. The "socialism" comment is pretty far off the mark, and just parrots what Beck and the Tea Partiers throw out there, showing their lack of skill at understanding the definition and concept. I'm no fan of Obama at this point, but he sure is a good deal better than what these guys are saying. I can't wait to watch the debacle of "Palin in '12". Should be great fun.

Roger Ailes has just demonstrated how little he knows about socialism.

But, I think that's typical of most fat, balding idiots in our country who blindly embrace capitalism, a system that has FAILED roughly 98% of the American populace time and time again as the rich get richer, the poor get poorer and our current real wages are less than they were in the 1970's after you control for inflation, etc.

France, in particular, and all of the other European nations are already socialized to a large extent.

Universal healthcare, strong pension systems and excellent social safety nets (unemployment systems, etc.) exist in all European countries.

If Obama espouses a socialism that is "too far left for most European nations", then why have most European nations adopted nearly all of Obama's changes before Obama even was elected President?

    Roger Ailes = colossal moron

What a surprise. Fox is run by an old, white, fat guy. Not a at all the image I get of Republicans or their supporters. If Obama has a different belief system than most Americans, how is that a bad thing? Their current beliefs have them slipping down the list of "Best countries to live in" and up the list of "Fattest S.O.B.s on the planet."
