Fox News chief: Obama's 'socialism' left of France

(CNN) – Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes isn't holding back when it comes to his opinion of President Obama, saying in a recent interview that he espouses a version of "socialism…too far left" even for some European countries.

"The president has not been very successful," Ailes told Howard Kurtz, the Washington Bureau Chief for the Daily Beast and a CNN contributor. "He just got kicked from Mumbai to South Korea, and he came home and attacked Republicans for it. He had to be told by the French and the Germans that his socialism was too far left for them to deal with."

The comments constituted part of Ailes' argument that Fox News is a fair and balanced news network that criticizes the president not because he is a Democrat but because the network merely reflects the fact that Obama "just has a different belief system than most Americans."

Meanwhile, Ailes added that it has always been his network's policy to "be more direct" in challenging commander-in-chiefs, no matter their party affiliation.

He also suggested the rest of the news media is only now beginning to report accurately on the president.

"He's had 3,000 press secretaries since he got into office," Ailes also said. (For the record, Robert Gibbs has been Obama's only press secretary so far.) "He's making it harder for the press to make him look good. When the press falls in love, they fall in love hard. They're like teenagers in love. It's like the old Frankie Lymon song, 'Why Do Fools Fall in Love?'"

Ailes also came to former President George W. Bush's defense, saying Obama has relentlessly attacked the "poor guy."

"This poor guy, sitting down on his ranch clearing brush, gained a lot of respect for keeping his mouth shut. I literally never heard an Obama speech that didn't blame Bush," he said.

Gotta give the devil his due, Roger Ailes knows how to sell his product, not that means the product is a good one, hes just great at marketing it

The socialist argument has been beaten to death with generally actual socilalists coming out and saying that under socialist values Obama doesn't qualify, its the same as when people think hes muslim, forgetting for the moment that muslims aren't allowed to consume alcohol and Obama famously shared a beer with Professor Louis Gates and the Mass Police

I would hope people are smart enough to realize FOX reports the right side of the news while MSNBC goes more toward the left and ironically if the truth half the time seems to come out of the Daily Show, which is just sad, I miss the days when newscasters just reported the events based on all available information rather then what worked for their beliefs

Big surprise . . . the president of Fox news spits the same baseless rhetoric and blatant, in-your-face, lies as the Fox news commentators.
Money in America may not flow from the top down, but bull$hit sure does.

Murdoch and Ailes have done more damage to this country than all the terrorists combined. Shoving a steady diet of anti-US propaganda down the throats of a lazy, gullible audience; they have perfected the art of the "big lie."

What a load of fertilizer. Obama is far from "socialist." In fact, the far-left is almost as annoyed with him as the far-right, because he's been governing too conservatively. Anyone who thinks Obama is "socialist" has no clue what socialism is, and they'd probably also consider Ronald Reagan to be a "socialist" if he were around now. Obama is pretty centrist. Usually when both the far-right and the far-left are angry with a president, that's a good sign, because the extremes in either party are complete idiots.

And nobody panders to idiots more than Roger Ailes...

Equally hard on all commender-in-chief? Are you kidding me. FAX news was, and is, judging from the last parapgraph. GW Bush biggest cheerleader – even as they drove our economy off a cliff. As far as i am consearned FOX news has commited acts of treason, but accepting Saudi money to defame our President.

No surprise this guy is the Prez of FOX – he lies just as badly as the commentators on his network. FOX News fair and balanced? Has he ever watched his own network? It's skewed so far to the right that drinking a Pepsi (blue can) instead of Coke (red can) would make anyone a Marxist. And on the heals of that calling G.W. a "poor guy"? Are you kidding me??? Fox will rip on any Democrat in a heartbeat but I've never seen or heard them give Bush or any Republican a "balanced" review. It's love and glory for the Red. Typical Right-wing extremist mantra: LIE LIE LIE until ignorant people start to believe it, then LIE some more.

Ailes reports that bush was simply clearing brush on his ranch.....like anybody else. Bush a few years ago didnt even know what a register scanner was! Yup, hes a regular joe alright! And I have yet to see any negative attacks on bush during his presidency by FOX news. Not to mention Ailes was one of bushes biggest campaign contributers. No news is objective. The only way to get objectivity is to watch CNN and FOX and then come somewhere in the middle....but FOX is so biased it hurts.

You just gotta love what passes for Fair & Balanced in the mind of Fox News - no reason to let facts get in the way of an argument you're trying to make.

This may be the most uninformed rant ever printed. To the left of France? Does Ailes even understand what comes out of his mouth? The US economy is nothing like France's.

this so called news channel is very destructive to our country – the outrageous and mean and nasty things that come out of their mouths is appauling and destructive (paranoia). this president has been demonized relentlessly day after day since the day he took office. I can see where glenn beck gets his stupid ideas. ailes did'nt even know the president has only had one press secretary since he took office

My friend who is dying of untreated leukemia (after she lost her job/insurance from being sick) would not be dying if she lived in Europe / Hong Kong / Singapore / Australia / Israel / etc. My friend who had to go back to work right after a very difficult delivery or lose her job, would have had guaranteed maternity leave in almost any other nation in the world. Heating assistance help for poor and unemployed families is being cut in half. So, where is all this socialism everyone is talking about??
