Fox News chief: Obama's 'socialism' left of France

(CNN) – Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes isn't holding back when it comes to his opinion of President Obama, saying in a recent interview that he espouses a version of "socialism…too far left" even for some European countries.

"The president has not been very successful," Ailes told Howard Kurtz, the Washington Bureau Chief for the Daily Beast and a CNN contributor. "He just got kicked from Mumbai to South Korea, and he came home and attacked Republicans for it. He had to be told by the French and the Germans that his socialism was too far left for them to deal with."

The comments constituted part of Ailes' argument that Fox News is a fair and balanced news network that criticizes the president not because he is a Democrat but because the network merely reflects the fact that Obama "just has a different belief system than most Americans."

Meanwhile, Ailes added that it has always been his network's policy to "be more direct" in challenging commander-in-chiefs, no matter their party affiliation.

He also suggested the rest of the news media is only now beginning to report accurately on the president.

"He's had 3,000 press secretaries since he got into office," Ailes also said. (For the record, Robert Gibbs has been Obama's only press secretary so far.) "He's making it harder for the press to make him look good. When the press falls in love, they fall in love hard. They're like teenagers in love. It's like the old Frankie Lymon song, 'Why Do Fools Fall in Love?'"

Ailes also came to former President George W. Bush's defense, saying Obama has relentlessly attacked the "poor guy."

"This poor guy, sitting down on his ranch clearing brush, gained a lot of respect for keeping his mouth shut. I literally never heard an Obama speech that didn't blame Bush," he said.

How in the world can Fox call themselves a "news" station when they are force-fed an agenda from Roger Ailes. There is a study that says that FOX commentators are accurate only about 10% of the time. And worse yet, they don't care. Someone should start a station that fact checks all the BS that comes from the media and you would probably find that FoX WOULD TOP THE LIST. Some people compare MSNBC to Fox but there is no comparison. Fox is 24/7 slamming of Obama and Democrats. MSNBC will actually call out Dems but they also do it with FACTS. Not so on FOX.

Fair and Balanced my left foot...presenting opinion as fact does not make you a credible news source...choosing which facts you want to present and which you want to ignore does not make you a credible news source...this is the problem with MSNBC and FOX they present the same story with different facts...I havent heard a Tea Party member speech that didnt call Obama a socialist and knew the meaning of the word, or a Palin speech that presents solutions...But I am sure Obama cares nothing about what this man says about him he will just brush it off like he does everything else unlike those emotional conservatives that start using homophobic slurs because someone said they didnt like your show...

This is the kind of talk that seperates this country. There is a middle road. That is our senator's and represenatives jobs. To find a compromise. Not some fat a** business executive that would rather have our country divided and at eachothers throats. I wish my fellow republicans would recognize that the current administration has been left center in policy. Not "farther left than france." What the hell does this business fat cat know of the american people?! What does he know of struggle?! Unemployment?! IM TIRED OF HEARING HE'S A SOCIALIST, TERRORIST, NOT A REAL AMERICAN! Its time for our country to move past party lines and work for its citizens. We have the house now so lets move forward and above all this hate.

Nice pic, fatboy. Keep eating those cheeseburgers. We don't need "journalists" of your kind getting personally involved in politics.

The rise of Fox News was the moment when journalism jumped the shark. I foresee a huge backlash by future generations of journalists and citizens against this kind of political-activist journalism once this new fad as worn out.

Roger Ailes is typical of the media arm of the GOP pundits at Fox News. They are manipulated by Boner, McClownell, Steele and the rest of the delusional lunatics of the rightwing. Ailes does not like Obama because he is African American and the most powerful man on the face of the earth, so Ailes is a bassackwards ignorant redneck buffoon, just like Limbarf.

Ailes is sorry for ole Dubya. Where was Ailes when Bush lied about Iraq and Afghanistan? Where was Ailes when Bush was ignoring New Orleans? Where was Ailes when bush was expanding government with huge deficit spending? Probably comatose as were all the rest of the rightwing lunatics.

Ailes – if you don't like America, why not try out Afghanistan with your nonsensical blather and take all the lunatics at Fox with you. buh bye

He claims Pres. Obama has "a different belief system than most Americans." Duh ... If so, why did he easily win the election? People like Mr. Ailes throw around terms like "socialism," etc. without really knowing what they mean. Ignorance at the very least; fear-mongering probably. And he's the chief of a major media outlet in this country. Just goes to show that the dumbing down of America has come home to roost. To Mr. Ailes and his likes I say please consider what my grandpa taught me: 'You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar."

Congratulations to Roger Ailes for spurring on increased viewers to Fox News. Unfortunately, Fox News is not about journalism and Ailes comments above are not fair and balanced, the network gets so many facts wrong while trying to prove that Democrats are evil. It belittles the intelligence of Americans and was definitely NOT what our founding fathers had in mind when they started this country. Shame on CNN for even giving mention to Ailes.

President Obama was elected by the majority of Americans. He has made a lot of progress, having come into office during an extremely challenging economic time. He had my vote in 08 and will have it again should he decide to run again.

I do not even know where to begin with this fat bastard's ridiculous comments and insane positions.

In any event, he sure is the epitome of the right wing, straight out of "central casting" – He even looks the part of the angry, old, rich, selfish, a-hole.

and, he's certainly not doing anything positive for his country, only himself.

"Fox News Chairman Attacks Obama"- that was your headline is this news? Fox News is a front for the Republican party. A simple wiki search reveals that chairman Ailes was a media consultant for Republican presidents Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and George H. W. Bush, as well as Rudy Giuliani’s first mayoral campaign in 1989. And so he and his network are supposed to provide fair and balanced coverage of a Democratic President? Fox has reinvented the term "socialism" to be anything that Rupert Murdoch and the conservative "movement" don't like. Mr. Ailes knows that France and Germany are further to the left than our President and their people have the benefits we only dream of: healthcare for all and a real social safety net. Or maybe Mr. Ailes doesn't know that because he's been watching his own network!

Some one should bring a class action suit against "News Corp and Fox News" for selling tainted information which is not fit for human consumption.

Is fox a media news or a right wing communist propaganda machine!!Whats is the difference between Roger Ailes and Paul Joseph Goebbels the answer is none! in fact Roger Ailes is worse because he has no cajones he let's his water boys at fox news clean his mess!. Want to know more about Ailes/ Goebbels, Goebbels used modern propaganda techniques to psychologically prepare the German (TEA BAGGERS OF THAT TIME) people for aggressive war and the annihilation of civilian populations. Among other propaganda devices, he accused many of Germany's ethnic and national minorities (such as the Poles, the Jews, the French) of trying to destroy Germany, claiming that Germany's belligerent actions were taken in self-defence ( THATS SIMILAR WITH HOW FOX/TEA MOVEMENT VIEWS MINORITIES IN AMERICA).
During World War II, ( RECESSION) Goebbels increased his power and influence through shifting alliances with other Nazi leaders (INSTEAD OF NAZI LEADERS INSERT REPUBLICAN ESTABLISHMENT,CHAMBER OF COMMERCE,KOCH BROTHERS). By late 1943 (2012), the tide of the war (ECONOMIC WAR) was turning against the Axis powers, (FOX) but this only spurred Goebbels to intensify the propaganda by urging the Germans (TEA BAGGERS) to accept the idea of total war and mobilization. Goebbels remained with Hitler ( MURDOCH) in Berlin to the end; Goebbels and his wife, Magda, killed their six young children. Shortly after, they both committed suicide. END OF THE MOVIE!!

This is way too much for me not to respond to this "person". Once again this is another reason why people SHOULD ignore that network. Can we call it the Replican Propoganda Channel officially now? What is so bad about the ideas of PRESIDENT Obama? Why the Earth crack in half if the ideas and principals he was elected on actually are passed and work?

There should be solid ethics in news broadcasting – period. The material (being nice here) should be classified as unintelligent, unreasearched, cry-baby ranting at best. The "news" classification should be banned from this network.

There should be an official boycott of Fox News and New Corp until they change their sadistic ways. I stopped a long time ago.

Back in the old country (i.e. America) we had papers and media that would publish facts, even if they flew in the face of the owners' politics. Not always, but frequently enough to count on the 4th estate to keep corruption in check and to serve the common good.

"3,000 press secretaries" is a nice touch. Ailes is apparently can not be bothered with the facts.

Everyone should have an opinion. Unfortunately those with the means can ensure many more people are exposed to their view, factual or not! Fox has a tendency to fabricate when the facts are not in their opinion important to the content. As noted above He's had 3,000 press secretaries since he got into office," Ailes also said.
Great to have such a well intended person voice their opinion without regard to the facts!
