(CNN) - Former President George W. Bush misses at least one aspect of the White House.
"I don't miss much about being president… I miss being pampered," Bush joked at an event at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Thursday night.
He also addressed his famous genes saying he has "my father's eyes" and "my mother's mouth."
The former president offered the enthusiastic crowd anecdotes from his memoir "Decision Points" that was on sale in the library's courtyard. The former president said he hopes the volume serves as a starting point in the long-term consideration of his presidency.
He said a full assessment of his two terms in office would happen, but first "The passions of the moment have to pass."
Most of his remarks centered on the decision to go to war against Al Qaeda and the attacks on September 11, 2001.
Bush appeared with first lady Nancy Reagan to promote his book as part of a lecture series at the library.
"I have zero desire to be in the limelight except to sell the book," Bush said.

Well we do wish you were back leading this country. The other side is sucking at it.
Why in the HELL do we still have to hear about Bush? Oh, That reminds me(besides the vote not to extend unemployment benefits) of what we face if the Republicans are elected in 2012.
Miss me yet???
You have no idea how much!!
Bush made his share of mistakes while he was in charge, mainly when he conspired with democrats on some boondoggle spending program or another, but he sure was alot better than the girly-man who we are stuck with now.
This is NOT the first time that this braindead spoiled warmonger has made comments alluding to the fact that he liked the spoils of the White House, Air Force One, and being waited on hand and foot.
I guess because he's white and filthy rich people just chuckle it off and think it's cute.
Our current President, who's worked harder in his 2 years as President, than the Shrub, his daddy and Highest Percentage of Deficit Increase Reagan, is begrudged the fact that he puts his feet up on the desk that he bought for the Oval Office with his own money. Any trip taken on Air Force One has the lunatic right-fringe racists up in arms.
But this moron who killed our children, and Iraqui children for no reason, and spun our economy into ICU is applauded everytime a drooling idiocy drops out of his lips.
The more things change....the more they stay the same.
I don't want to hear another word about mini-Bush until he's indicted.
The military budget is bloated beyond belief. Get the hell out of Afghanistan and Iraq, like the people said to do in 2008, and you will see some big spending reductions. Fire all those highly paid criminals masquerading as private security forces immediately. Let the mini-Bush tax breaks expire on everyone, and then kick the rates on rich guys back up to where they were before Reagan put them on welfare.
While you're at it, shut down the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. We don't need a religious group being paid with taxpayer dollars.
Former President Bush misses being pampered because he has to pamper Laura as she deserves and hope she enjoys every moment.
I suspect what he misses most are those rightwing love-fests, where Norm Coleman's and Rick Santorum's noses are stuck in his nether regions, and then in turn having his nose stuck up Cheney's nether regions.
"I don't miss much about being president… I miss being pampered,"
Sorry you are no longer being pampered, Mr. President. Feeling your pain of loss, George. My family miss the 28 year job my husband lost to job out sourcing in '07. Lost half of his pension as well. Don't trouble yourself worrying about it, though. He found new employement ... minus the perks (vacation), and half the pay. Healthcare costs skyrocketed, but what the heck, life is a gamble, right? Still holding on to our home ... for how long ,though, who really knows?
As much as I hated the Bush administration and policies... he's really not a bad guy!
I saw him at a meeting yesterday. He is as honest a guy as you could ever meet and that's how and why he wrote the book. He was welcomed by a huge crowd as a star and he did not disappoint anyone. He is a brilliant leader.
The good ol' days of the Bush presidency. Let us recount those golden years. Tax cuts that did nothing to stimulate the economy other than destroying a budget surplus. The voiding of Habeas Corpus. 700,000 jobs lost a month since the official start of the Republican Great Recession in December 2007. A needless war in Iraq that was based on a lie. Mission Accomplished when the mission was really Mission Clueless. Wire tapping. Outing CIA agents. Yes, the golden years of The Bush Presidency are truly ones to miss.
Why are we seeing so many spinned 'stories' on this war criminal?
Why is everbody acting as if this Cheney puppet was NOT the Head- Idiot- in-Charge that put us in these dire straits due to his ignorance, willful negligence and complicity?
Why do I have to be subjected to seeing pictures of him dancing with the natives as if he left our country in the best of shape, and all was fine with our world?
How freaking tasteless is it that just as RethugliKKKlans shoot down extending the unemployment benefits RIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS we get to hear how The Sacred Braintrust misses BEING SPOILED IN THE WHITE HOUSE???
I mean really, what the hell?!
I guess so, because he definitely did not make good desicions for the country. He loved using the white house staff like slaves on a plantation. That is how the rich thinks. They only want the power and glory, nothing else. Those mushroom people who think that the republican party are the answer to their problems are now seeing what their true agenda is. Happy holidays to those of you who are republicans collecting unemployment. They just took your holiday bonus away. Now you are going to pretend that President Obama took it away from you Shame, Shame
Wish He and Laura were around for a third term!
Probably nothing since he did no work there. I do miss the nightly/daily jokes about him and his failed presidency though.
Four and the door, The oppressed usually misses their oppressor. The abused usually want to stay with their abuser.
They don't know any better. When you've finally had enough, you'll leave. Often too late. Enjoy your tea.
@ Willy Brown you must get all of your info from Fox News. They keep feeding you the lies and you keep growing ignorant more and more because of the lies. The Republicans took your unemployment, but I am going to pray for you and your family. I don't have to brag about Family values to prove that I am a Christian. I don't have to tell lies to prove that I am patriotic and American. I don't need to bad mouth people to get my way. Karma iwill definitely bite back and it is coming. You asked for it and now you have it. You must be an idiot to think that Bush ran the country. This man sent your jobs overseas, killed innocent people and lied about it.
Same old George. Please die at his expense and he laughs and runs back to daddy. What a evil, ignorant person he is.
Sorry, I meant people die at his expense and he laughs and runs back to daddy. What an evil, ignorant person he is.
Now there's a comment we can all believe.
Louie, Louie! There was no surplus. It was projected but never happened. The tax cuts revived the economy after the Clinton recession and a little thing called 9/11 that slowed the economy. Both Clints, John Kerry, and almost every Democrat in the congress said there was WMDs. A couple of guys names Chris and Barney along with the Clinton Plan to give folks houses they couldn't afford started the economic snowball. Get a clue!
I think he misses the oval office not having any corners!
And all you conservatives on here- lighten up with the name calling- it's not witty and shows your lack of vocabulary and facts. Be constructive for a change.
