Judge orders Gawker to remove Palin book excerpts

(CNN) – A federal judge ordered Gawker on Saturday to take down excerpts the website posted from Sarah Palin's upcoming book until at least November 30.

The post was removed by Saturday evening.

In his two-page decision, U.S. District Judge Thomas Griesa told Gawker to cease "from continuing to distribute, publish or otherwise transmit pages" from Sarah Palin's "America by Heart" until a hearing scheduled for November 30.

Gawker did not immediately respond to e-mail and telephone messages from CNN seeking comment on the case.

Thursday, the online gossip website had shot back via a post that read:

"Did you catch the excerpt we posted yesterday from Sarah Palin's new book? Sarah did. She tweets with rage: 'The publishing world is LEAKING out-of-context excerpts of my book w/out my permission? Isn't that illegal?' [Sarah: If you're reading this -- and if you are, welcome! -- you may want to take a moment to familiarize yourself with the law.]"

"America by Heart" is Palin's second book, following the 2009 publication of "Going Rogue." It is due out on Tuesday.

Following the Gawker leak, the former Alaska governor posted on her Facebook page an excerpt from the upcoming book.

"We have to know what makes America exceptional today more than ever because it is under assault today more than ever," she wrote. "This is my America, from my heart, and by my heart. I give it now to my children and grandchildren, and to yours, so they will always know what it was like in America when people were free."

"I give it now to my children and grandchildren, and to yours, so they will always know what it was like in America when people were free."

Yes, when people were free. Except apparently for people who want to post excerpts from your book, in which case you apparently have no problem with trying to restrict their freedom. Hypocrite much, miss Palin?

I love the quote she gives from her book, the same typical sensationalist nonsense about America being "under assault" that she constantly spouts. The only thing America is under assault from are extreme politicians like her, seeking to polarize and divide our country.

Hard to get excited about a book from a ghostwriter that writes for someone that was a very bad mayor and a below average Governor for one year. There is nothing to add about her ceremonial run for VP, they lost and we all know she was not vetted and had trouble answering very easy questions. There you go, now you don't need to waste your money on abook, that is her life in a couple sentences and if the book states otherwise it is a lie. You don't need two books to tell this very short average story.

Dear Sarah: America was built by people who refused to quit. Everyday, Americans perform jobs and do things they may not like, but that is their job, and Americans do not quit. Well, except for you.

How bias is CNN? Compare James Carville's comment about Pres. Obama, and Mrs Bush's comment about Gov. Palin. CNN says Carville is "deviant" Thinking he should back down. And covering it up on their Ticker. Does CNN ask if Mrs. Bush is defiant? No they hype it.

Only Sarah Palin could say this about America: "so they will always know what it was like in America when people were free." in the same article where she also questions published excerpts from her book " . . . Isn't that illegal?" !!

Sarah: As long as you are properly cited–given credit for and acknowledgment of– quoted material, it's covered under the CONSTITUTION you are so quick to use for your own needs, as a right available to ALL citizens and not just those who might be just like you.

This lady is a master manipulator.

Didn't know she wasn't living in the land of the free. I love living in the USA and proud to be an American. At least I don't go out preaching family values, then have a single daughter that can't seem to keep her pants on. My children love being free and in America and thinks, as Barbara Bush states, that she should stay in Alaska and teach her daughter how to close her legs

This is only a temporary injunction - a routine item to give both sides time to present their arguments. Copyright law is a very mature area with well-argued guidelines over what constitutes theft of property and what is fair reporting.

That said, if the above quote is typical, then she should have flunked her college writing classes.

After MSNBC reported Todd and sarah embezzled to build their home, She took out MSNBC, NY Times, Washington Post, and the Huffington Post with one paragraph from her legal council. Now this. Amazing considering she is supposed to be incompetent.
