Palin releases excerpts of 'America by Heart'

(CNN) - The same weekend a federal judge ordered the web site Gawker to remove unauthorized excerpts of Sarah Palin's upcoming book, the former Alaska governor released a sneak peek of her own on Facebook.

The upcoming book "America by Heart," which hits bookshelves Tuesday, is being billed as a largely inspirational portrayal of Americans Palin has met since rocketing to national fame two years ago.

But as the 11-paragraph excerpt makes clear, the book is not all together void of politics.

"We have to know what makes America exceptional today more than ever because it is under assault today more than ever," the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee writes in the excerpt released Saturday.

"I can't think of a sadder prospect for Todd and me than our spending our sunset years telling our grandson, Tripp, and our grandchildren yet to come about what it was like in America when we were strong and proud and free," she adds. "But maybe I can think of a sadder prospect: Tripp and our other grandchildren spending their whole lives working to pay off the irresponsible debt we have accumulated and are about to leave to them."

Also in the excerpts Palin describes the book as "my view of America and what has made her great," and says much of her current inspiration comes from conservative icon Ronald Reagan.

"It's the ideas our country was founded on. It's the strength of our families. It's the grit of our national character. It's our faith in God, how it has shaped our nation and continues to fortify us as a people," she writes. "President Reagan's call for us to fight for, protect, and pass on to future generations the sources and meaning of our freedom is both a political and a personal call; it is a challenge, both for our country and for us individually. I take this challenge seriously. Passing on peace, prosperity, and liberty."

The excerpts, released Saturday, are more uplifting and politically minded than those posted by Gawker: one passage the gossip web site extracted featured Palin bashing American Idol contestants who appear to lack talent and make fools of themselves in front of America on the popular television show.

A District Court Judge on Saturday ordered Gawker to cease "from continuing to distribute, publish or otherwise transmit pages" from Palin's book until a hearing scheduled for November 30.

Gawker did not immediately respond to e-mail and telephone messages from CNN seeking comment on the case.

I can't think of a single way Sarah Palin could inspire me – except to go to the polls to vote against her.

She should research Ronald Reagan. He was one of the presidents that helped get our economy to where it is today. Instead of paying down the deficit he just kept on spending. Palin great? Well she is in our face a lot...but I wouldn't say she is great in any way shape or form.

She's just milking every penny out of those hillbillies that listen to her. Heck she realized there is more money to make off of them than being a governor. She knew she couldn't handle that and she knows she could never possibly be president. She'll make her millions and dissapear.....you watch!

If only she wasn't a political american idol contestant attacking problems that she isn't also roundaboutly promoting. But hey, that's the game. The new normal. The new "real America".

We've been waiting 2 years, and she still speaks in generalities with nothing of substance behind them. At least she does believe in peace, justice, and the American way.

I dont think there exists in all of America a single more manipulative and oily creature then Palin. She is the most self absorbed and self promoting circus show out there. She is so consumed in her self that she has zero perception of how utterly repulsive her and her entire entourage is to this Nation. In her world, she is blinded by her self worth that she has no awareness of her reality.

She's exploiting ignorant and uninformed Americans and telling them what they want to hear and laughing all the way to the bank. The intelligent Americans see through her phoney line of BS.

I think that Barbara Bush is correct - Palin should stay in Alaska. She has no real understanding of what America needs. She just wants to hunt and sound folks.

Just remember Sarah, it was the Republican Party that has created this "irresponsible debt", and it was George W. and his policies that made us less "Proud" because he ignored the other Nations of the World and decided to "go it alone". As far as being "Free", you wouldn't be able to do what you are doing without our "Freedoms" !

Palin is a scary person. LQQK at her eyes!!! No matter how she smiles, she has the 'devious' stare!! Check her out on EVERY photo – there is NO "twinkle".

"...Palin bashing American Idol contestants who appear to lack talent and make fools of themselves in front of America on the popular television show..."

But yet her DAUGHTER, Bristol, is on Dancing with the Stars and has NO TALENT????? Sarah Palin herself is on "center stage" of her OWN reality show – "Running for President" and SHE has No CLUE or Talent!!!! Her daughter, Willow, is also STARRING in her own "Facebook Reality Show", running amuck, with NO SUPERVISION – and for THAT, you don’t need any talent just a Mouth full of Soap to clean it!!! I cannot begin to imagine what the babies are doing, both Sarah's and Bristols????

President Regan – the ACTOR – is Sarah's hero and she does not have a mind of her own because she QUOTES him constantly!!! Jeez!! Get a CLUE of what MOST Americans are thinking and sit down one day and have DINNER with a Black, Hispanic, Mexican or any other person of COLOR and learn something!!!

I rather stick with our current leader from NOW until 2016 and his name is President Obama, who is Moving America Forward for ALL Americans – NOT a chosen few!!!

I just hope this book has numbers in the coloring spaces in order to avoid confusion in the trailer parks. Sarah, your 15 minutes were up 3 hours ago – give it a rest.

On second thought, no, you keep campaigning, and if you're lucky enough to survive the onslaught of the angry white men you'll face in the primaries, then you'll have a chance to debate a skilled orator in front of all Americans. So, you go girl!!!

I'm buttering up the popcorn for debate night, right now............ So, don't forget Sarah, Obama was born under a flaming bush in the Kenyan jungle during a fertility rite dedicate to bringing America down from the inside out, etc.,..... etc.,..... etc.............

You call these excerpts Failin-Palin? Seriously? LOL

They sound more like a bunch of "ya'betcha" slogans made into running and repeated sentences!!! This woman is nothing but a snow-blowing lunatic. She doesn't know JACK and it shows!!!

Sarah Palin is a master at hiding behind FAUX News, her twittter blogs AND all her coloring books and thinks she's qualified to be President!!!! What a LOAD OF CRAP!!!

Her new reality show proves without a doubt that Barbara Bush is 105% right. Sarah Palin needs to stay in Alaska. That's where she belongs along with all the wildlife!!! Alaska truly deserves this nut case.

I pray this nut job runs for President, then Republicans will get another dose of getting their lying butts WHOOPED AGAIN!

PLEASE run Sarah, please.....please, pretty-please. Because you are truly the GIFT that just keeps giving to the Democrats. With candidates like YOU, betting bookies and gamblers around the world will be RICH, RICH, RICH!!! Your an easy BET when it comes to LOSING again.

I am a great admirer Margant Thatcher, but Mrs. Palin & Mrs McDonnell are no where in the same league at all.

I watched a small portion of Sarah Palin's reality show and found way too much of it as a political ad. I don't see how it couldn't. But I am very sadden by what I saw. I very much enjoyed the sites and sounds of Alaska.

If this book is anything like the first book, I won't be reading it. The frist book wasn't thought provoking and I doubt this one is either.
