TRENDING: Palin won't 'waste time' on Couric

(CNN) - If Sarah Palin does run for president next year, at least one high profile journalist will be forbidden access to the former Alaska governor.

Speaking to Fox New's Sean Hannity in an interview to air Monday, Palin said she wants nothing to do with Katie Couric, the CBS Evening News anchor who's line of questioning facilitated one of the most memorable political foibles of the 2008 presidential campaign.

"As for doing an interview, though, with a reporter who already has such a bias against whatever it is that I would come out and say? Why waste my time? No," Palin told Hannity of Couric, according to excerpts obtained by Time's Mark Halperin.

"I want to help clean up the state that is so sorry today of journalism. And I have a communications degree. I studied journalism, who, what, where, when, and why of reporting," Palin continued. "I will speak to reporters who still understand that cornerstone of our democracy, that expectation that the public has for truth to be reported. And then we get to decide our own opinion based on the facts reported to us."

In a series of interviews with Couric authorized by the McCain campaign, Palin stumbled over a number of questions, most memorably when asked, "When it comes to establishing your world view…what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read?"

Palin appeared unable to name a single publication – a performance for which she was much maligned - and later said she found the question insulting, as well as emblematic of a liberal slant in the mainstream media.

"So a journalist, a reporter who is so biased and will, no doubt, spin and gin up whatever it is that I have to say to create controversy, I swear to you, I will not my waste my time with her. Or him," she told Hannity in the interview Monday.

She was asked "What do you read" and was exposed and was embarrassed because she doesn't read ANYTHING and had no answer. So to her mind that is a "got'cha" question. Yup got you to admit to the US that you are an uninformed idiot.

Look what happened to Sharon Angle when she refused to answer questions about foreign policy.

And I see it is going to happen to Sister Sara in 2012.

This may be the highest complement that Couric ever receives!

Jeff in Alabama said..."And before any of you liberals out there make a sarcastic crack about being from Alabama..... I've been to Atlanta and nobody in their right mind would rather be in Atlanta than Eufaula , Alabama."

Whaaaat????? You sound likethe typical Palin type – ignorant and twisted.

Yeah.....forget Woodward and Bernstein....that Katie Couric is the real red hot journalistic draggon out there to take down the establishment. ROLF!

I wonder if Palin would be as successful in cashing in on her stupidity if she wasn’t purty and white? Then again, her appeal with the trailer park rednecks wouldn’t be nearly as strong if she wasn’t such a racially ‘pure’ patriot…and such a looker too. All she needs is a bikini, a gun and a six pack of beer….the ultimate vision of the tea party!

Approved questions for future interviews with Sarah Palin:

-Sarah, how many fingers am I holding up?
-If you have three apples, and I give you two apples...how many apples do you have?
-Tell me more about your prestigious communications degree and how you earned it in less than a decade.
-Deer meat or moose meat...which is better?
-Climate scientists–Are they Nazis or just cotton-headed ninny muggins?

Personally, I'd like to ask why she says she wants her family out of the limelight, yet has her daughter go on one of the highest-rated TV shows to perform and be judged, and then has the rest of her family featured on another show on TLC.

The United States looks so very dumb with this woman having her name in print so often. Not to mention coverage of her on TV. Its actually quite embarrassing to think that anyone with intelligence would vote for someone who has come out of the wood-work because they were not vetted properly. The Republicans look like real fools with her coming out and representing them in politics. Let's hope that she is sent off to oblivion soon. What an unmitigated disaster.

Sara, good for you! Couric doesn't know the meaning of objective reporting and someone has to call her on the carpet. Worst of all, I personally think she used to be one of the most objective reporters in the USA. I guess it must be the company she keeps!

I know a lot of women have a love/hate relationship towards you. However, most of all their envy goes so deep that they are unable to control themselves.

What about Mrs. Bush? OMG, I don't ever want to go there. Again, your other detractors (women and men) mostly envy you. Mrs. Bush; I have absolutely no idea; that is other than letting people know that she's still alive. Why did she not pick on the man (Fraud-in-Chief NObama) that is singlehandedly ruining our country?

Again, go Sara, go! God bless America!

  13. seriously???

"...And then we get to decide our own opinion based on the facts reported to us" you mean like the opinions people get to form from hearing the "facts" on Fox News? If you want to change the face of journalism clean up the cable news channel that YOU appear on since it is not even journalism at all!!!

lafnjim – The press is biased? Really? in other news the sky is blue....
More seriously, the interview made palin look bad simply because she was NOT talking with a reporter whose only 'questions' were pre-arranged ones. If that's bias for you...

You reporters and your liberal slant. I answer questions for my base. The people who don't know what the word "publication" means. You liberal elitists and your high and mighty books can take a hike.

Classic case of Republicans behaving like 2 year olds, all is No No No No and when they get challenged they take the ball and run home, and this wasn't the first time for Miss half term Alaska governor was it?

I guess Sean Hannity and Rush will be be the only "reporters" to interview Queen Sarah. Get over yourself lady you were asked a soft ball question by Katie Couric, and couldn't come up with an answer, it's obvious that you rejoice in being willfully ignorant. Hard questions come with the big chair honey, winking to the Viagara set will not work this time. Suggest you stick to another topic you know nothing about, parenting. No boys allowed past the kiddie gate! Yep that will keep you from being a grandmother again.

yep, the lady does have a degree in journalism and presumably believes that such credentials qualifies her to be the president of the united states. whether you like her or don't like her – she is not qualified to be president. as for ms. palin blaming ms couric for her inability to answers simple, straight-forward questions – i just have to laugh.

Good lord, JON!~ What a crude comment! Maybe someone will do the "honors" to you as you seem to have a rotten heart yourself. Whether or not you approve of Ms. Palin (and I do not), I wouldn't wish something that horrible on another person and you shouldn't either! Katie Couric is an idiot to boot!

Asking someone what newspapers they read is not "gotcha journalism". I almost want to see her run for POTUS just for the amusement.

Random Reporter: What are your views on journalism and its role in covering political races nowadays?
Palin: I want to help clean up the state that is so sorry today of journalism. And I have a communications degree. I studied journalism, who, what, where, when, and why of reporting. I will speak to reporters who still understand that cornerstone of our democracy, that expectation that the public has for truth to be reported. Someone with the backbone to be a real leader would be more likely to say "I screwed up the first time, but will be better prepared the next and then I'll show this reporter who knows what."

This being Palin, however, she'll run away and hide, while name-calling and blaming others all the way. That's a true leader.

Wait, let me get this straight.

This quitter and greedhead-moron Palin is blaming Katie Couric for the stupid answers that Palin herself gave?

Pathetic Palin. She represents Republicans so well.
