(CNN) - Despite the roll-out of Sarah Palin's new book and her first book stop, it was her daughter that received most of the attention Tuesday night.
Bristol Palin received her "Dancing with the Stars" fate during Tuesday's show, losing the mirror-ball trophy to actress Jennifer Grey.
So it was only natural that the elder Palin respond to her daughter's loss at her book signing in Phoenix, Arizona. At the time of the event, the former Alaska governor hadn't talked to Bristol, but she said she knew what her daughter would say.
"She's going to say 'Mom, it was a great experience, like you say people are going to criticize anyway, you might as well dance,'" Palin told ABC. "She's had the journey of, you know the challenge and the improvement and the work ethic. This has been all about work ethic and perseverance."
Palin said she "couldn't be prouder" of Bristol and congratulated Jennifer on her Twitter page.
The winner of the contest is determined by a combination of scores from the show's three judges and viewer votes. Although Bristol received consistently low ratings from the judges, she proved a fan favorite.
Season 11 of the show started with 12 contestants. Palin was one of three to make it to the final round including Grey and actor Kyle Massey.
