Defeated Democrats look back, don't see agreement ahead

Washington (CNN) – Walking the hallways of the Rayburn House Office Building and through many of its offices, you saw rows and rows of boxes already packed up and even cartons of books being given away.

The more than 50 defeated House Democratic incumbents were forced last week to not only return to attend the lame-duck session of Congress but also to start packing up their offices, sorting through decades of papers, photos and mementos.

So Rep. Oberstar, even as he packs his bags, sill tries to peddle the notion that the democrats didn't get their mesage across. He still believes the American people just aren't smart enough to realize how wonderful those leftist ideas really are. Your message was loud and clear Congressman. That's why you're going home. No matter which party, when you have "decades" of pictures, mementos, memories, etc., maybe it's time to go.

"I think in the aftermath of the election what you will see is a polarization even greater that we had in the past several years.
    -------------------------------------------------–
The lobbyists, special interests, Big Business, etc are all pointing their guns at this adminstration. CHANGE IS HERE and the Rethugs don't like it. Hell even some entrenched Democrats don't like it because it means that the money that goes into their coffers is being jeopardized. You can't play at politics without money, and they know they do not have the draw that Obama has amongst average Americans. So they depend, just like the Rethugs, on contributions from big heavy-hitters. The top 2%.
Gotta protect the top 2% for the sake of political self-preservation.
If President Obama wasn't a threat to corrupt status-quo they wouldn't have made him their top priority versus fixing the economy.

Get ready to fight you Democrats. This is Armaggedon of another kind. You get to decide whether it is indeed God & Country for you, or Greed & Power.
CHANGE IS HERE JUST LIKE OBAMA SAID. Pick a side and get ready to RUMBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's gonna be a bloodbath.

Considering that America is not liberal leaning, just accept your defeat as a rebuke of your support for Obama, Pelosi, Reid and their liberal agenda... Have a nice retirement!!

We are losing some good and experienced people in Congress, unfortunately, they forgot that they serve the people and not the Kenyan village idiot and the botox intoxicated liberal from San Francisco. We tried to warn them, but they were seduced by the corruption and lies of the democrat liberal wing.

Hey CNN... why don't you do a followup on these 50 in say 6 months from now. Let us know which ones have become lobbyists... which ones have found another job feeding off the government trough... and which ones get jobs at MSNBC fetching quarter pounders and meatball grinders for fat boy Schultz (Alan Grayson's preferred position).

It is hard to understand why Americans buy into the crap from the right wing extreme media. Taxes under President Obama and the democrats are the lowest in 50 years, yet Fox did not inform their Taxed Enough Already viewers. This past quarter, businesses reported their highest profits in 60 years, yet Fox did not report that, but did call the president a Marxist, socialist and a communist and said he was not business friendly. The auto bailout worked and saved over two million auto related American jobs, the stimulus created almost 3 million jobs, but republican congressmen, after taking credit for the jobs, called it a failure. President Obama signed over 11 measures to help business, but if you watch Fox, they are concerned about the fist bump.

Hey am one of the first Americans to congratulate you for your sacrifie for bringing America from the brink of caos, You guys did an unbelievable job. When we was losing nearly 800 thousand jobs month I said to myself their was no way any one could stop this colossal momentum of job lost especially with the repugs putting every obstacle in the way to stop that. You guys just didn't just stop that momentum but you turned it around so that the economy started gaining jobs. Unfortunately you had to sacrifice for us to survive and the short memory people distroyed you for it. But if I'm the only one to thank you guys for one of the most courageous job I've ever seen politition accomplish sirpast by only the great depression well thank you and my family thank you.

In the middle of one of the worst recessions in history to hit America, the Democratic congress blew $850 billion on wasteful spending that did not even come close to meeting it's objectives and crammed through an expensive health insurance entitlement that also caused health care rates to increase even faster just so that Obama could count that political 'win'. Americans across the country spoke out clearly in opposition to both programs and congress blindly stuck with Obama. They were bad decisions and Americans have been more than happy for the chance to vote to get their message to Washington this month. And still Obama writes it off as poor advertising. He's next.

  10. Nancy Pelosi, the wicked witch of the west, the DemocRAT gift that just keeps on giving

"It was, and shame on us for not having messaged that legislation better and more effectively. That was a shortcoming of this election - that the Democratic Party did not carry that message nationally to the people of this country to show the costs savings, the changes that will result, the long-term health benefits for all Americans," he said.
    ==================================================================================================

Truly UNBELIEVEABLE! People this clueless, dishonest or disingenuous SHOULD be thrown out of office. Yes, if only they had LIED to us more about the healthcare bill, they would have won! It had NOTHING to do with lowering costs or providing better healthcare. It is a HUGE NEW GOVERNMENT ENTITLEMENT PROGRAM that will cost TRILLIONS we do not have.

The American people saw exactly what it was and repeatedly told these fools they did not want this fiasco. They jammed it down our throats anyways, because after all, THEY KNOW WHAT IS BEST FOR US. So when you disregard the will of the people that elect you, YOU LOSE YOUR JOB! Stupid DemocRATS just don't get it and never will. I am looking forward to 2012 when many more can be flushed down the toilet.

I certainly hope we don't have a lot of agreement in Congress, as that would mean the repugs won. mitch mcconnel already acts like he controls the Senate; he only controls the brakes, as he has since Massachusetts gave the repugs the power to stop laws from passing. It is better to stop than to go backwards. Don't help the repugs ruin the country.

If the dems are going to loose big in 2008, they should loose standing tall, not caving in to anti-American repugs.

That one sentence is very telling, regardless of party. Folks, you may have occupied that office, but it is far from yours! It belongs to the people you voted you in to represent them! That one sentence describes the attitude of many in power, Mine! Mine! Mine! Sorry but the term is PUBLIC SERVANT! Not rulers! I realize this does not apply to everyone in Congress but i'll bet it applies to the majority of them! REGARDLESS of party!
